Wat a great place food. fun. wine. intertainment. service.best sunday i have had in ages weldone to all
Great food.....Best eisbein ever ..... recommend to all
Authentic, laid-back, country pub vibe. Excellent service, great food, good VFM. Great selection of German and local beer and decent wine options. Shall definitely be back.
Lively locals from Somerset West and surrounds cake to visit this German restaurant which hosts the annual Herman inspired Bierfest which is part music festival and part feast. Guests are served pretzels and Eisbeins by Beerfest waitresses. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the owner is really friendly which lends to the atmosphere ! Live music, good food and a great vibe.
Was lovely. Sat at the indoor fireplace. Family had Eisbein and I had a schnitzel. Waiter was sweet, and food didn't take that long. Give 45 min for Eisbein. It's made from scratch and worth the wait. The only advice, or suggestion, thicker piece of schnitzel, and give option for cheese sauce.
Loved the decor and atmosphere. Rustic but reminds me of home
the vibe is absolutely amazing .the food took hella long but it was comforting because the food was fresh and perfectly crispy (pork belly ). the food taste great and the prices are decent.roughly R300 for two people. the actual service staff were on the slow side so prepare to wait for your drinks. but it really is a good restaurant and i would gladly go again !
If you love German cuisine or just want to enjoy a hearty meal and have a good time with friends, then Im Eimer is a place you’ve got to try.
They are known for their Eisbein and rightly so. It is absolutely delicious and far too much food to enjoy in one sitting. The crackling is crispy and the meat falls off the bone. It’s perfectly seasoned and the accompaniments like Sauerkraut and mash are delicious.
Do pre-order it to avoid a long waiting period and/or disappointment – they only prepare a few every day.
The place has a real rustic Joe’s Beerhouse type of vibe to it and it has a certain charm. Can’t wait to go back; just thinking of that Eisbein makes me hungry…
Excellent eisbein and ziguerin schnitzel. We ordered the eisbein ahead so did not jave to wait. Be warned the ziguerin sauce is spicy but I loved it. Highly recommended for relaxed atmosphere , great food and good service.
Rustic German restaurant and used to be the only place with Erdinger on tap. The decor is interesting but give a nice feel to it. The best eisbein you will eat ever. Essential to book a eisbein as they only make a limited amount. Best crackling on eisbein!
Visited the venue today for the first time after a recommendation from my son. If German cuisine is your thing, well then this restaurant is the place to go. The place was fully booked but they made a plan to accommodate us. We had Eisbein and Schnitzel and this was cooked to perfection, and our patience was well rewarded as we waited almost an hour but we were warned that Eisbein takes time. Great variety of Beers all resonably priced. Overall a great experience with good service and we will be back sometime in the future.
I really don't know what to make of the venue, had I not been referred here by friends I would never have walked inside. It is something else..........The service was very good and a polite young gent explained the menu in detail and brought us craft beers to die for, the booze is cheap as chips!! The food was very good. A once off visit
A must-visit for any fans of German cuisine. Our table enjoyed the eisbein, the schnitzel, and the venison goulash with spatzle. (a hand made egg noodle- delicious!) Every dish was absolute perfection- warm and spicy gluwëin included! What a great dinner choice. Ample portions in an unique and eclectic environment. Try the eisbein- it's their specialty- but be sure to phone ahead and pre-order it, otherwise the wait time can be a bit lengthy. Highly recommended. Yum!
What a hidden gem of a place! It exudes a charming countryside ambiance, adorned with an array of vintage decorations and curiosities to captivate your interest. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly waitress (whose name, regrettably, escapes me, given the one-month gap since my visit). The service was truly exceptional, with both the waitress and the manager displaying remarkable attentiveness to ensure our experience was nothing short of stellar.
Our dining journey commenced with a refreshing Erdinger Weissbrau and a crisp beer shandy, setting the tone for a delightful evening. For starters, we opted for the jalapeño poppers, a culinary revelation as they incorporated smoked ham, lending a unique and delicious twist to this classic dish, far beyond the ordinary flavors found in most places.
Moving on to our main courses, we savored the remarkable ribs and chips, distinguished by their exceptional basting, a welcome departure from the standard fare at other establishments. I also indulged in the pork neck steak, served with the vegetables of the day, chips, and sauerkraut, which culminated in a truly amazing meal.
The evening unfolded with an enchanting atmosphere, accentuated by a few crackling fireplaces scattered throughout the restaurant. This serene, peaceful setting offers a respite from the hustle and bustle. With fresh, generously portioned dishes, I recommend this spot for a monthly retreat or as a must-visit while on vacation. It's an unforgettable experience.

Well done. The food was top class. The service was great, as the waiters serviced our table regularly, without us needing to ask for assistance. The atmosphere with the fire and music in the background surely made it a very pleasant experience. On arrival there was enough parking and no need to wait for a table. Bookings can be done before the time. Well done guys, surely the best Eisbein I've tasted in South Africa so far.
Really original German food, tastes just like in Germany. Biergarten atmosphere outside, very cosy inside with a fireplace and Stammtisch.
Reasonable prices and great service make this a really special place to come to. It looks a little strange from the outside, but just go in, it's great.
We pre orderd the eisbein. It was a great size portion. Sunday afternoon lunch turned into 8 hours, live music, dancing, the place is decorated brilliant, old school meets rustic. We went with local friends of ours and had a blast. A must if your in Somerset west
Great rustic setting, German food and beer. Fire places and delicious food. The grilled Eisbein is particularly excellent but come hungry and note take about 45min to prepare.
Erdinger Weissbier is a particularly worthy companion.
Really special little hidden gem. Loved the vibe and the decor. Stopped for a milkshake but from what I could see of the food it looked like decent sized portions.
As I have been to I'm Eimer before I was happy to see that they have kept to their high standard. The restaurant has a rustic German beer garden feel with memorabilia spread around, making for interesting conversation topics, and although a big portion of the restaurant is outside/undercover, they also have a small area inside for those cold winter days. As this is a German restaurant, their menu obviously includes a range of different German drinks and dishes. Their stand-out dish, which I have tried before, is the Eisbein and I can highly recommend it. If you decided on going for the Eisbein, note that it takes 45min+ to prepare so maybe phone ahead and order to ensure they can start the prep. This time around I went for the Pork Belly that comes with sauerkraut and mash which I also really enjoyed. The staff are very friendly and regardless if you are just going for a couple of drinks or something to eat as well, you will have a good time.
What a hidden away gem, esp. If u want to just get out for a beer away from shopping centre's and lots of people. Quite a variety on their menu too, next time we'll eat something. German beer was pleasant.
Always an awesome experience, the Eisbein and the Snitchzel were fantastic, and Akkedis rocked on the stage while the fireplace was doing its thing !!
Incredible owners and even better food with an atmosphere that will make you want to go back every day.
Specials are often added tk the menu and don't forget to swing past on a Sunday morning to see the bakery that offers some tasty homemade dishes such as melktert, homemade buttermilk rusks, chocolate brownies, jams, chutneys, pies, sugar cookies, hertzoggies, carrot loaf and so much more.
