We only had 2 glasses of wine, but our waitress was super friendly, well spoken, very prompt and attentive. We got super service and were very well treated, on a Saturday afternoon an hr before the restaurant closed. I will definitely visit this farm again, but will make more time to do so.

Vergelegen is a stunning estate and lunch at their Stables restaurant is a treat. The menu is kid friendly, and the food is pretty good too. The salad is just perfect, while my boys love their pizza. I tried the chicken burger on my most recent visit and thought it was one of the better ones I've had anywhere. Would happily visit again.
This place exceeded my expectations - wasn’t sure what to expect but I had a great meal here. Would recommend the cheese board. After eating we went for a walk around the grounds to the historic site and it was great - and the herb gardens and rose gardens. Loved it!
They achieve their objective - lovely setting, well thought out menu for breakfast, lunch and light snacks. Service is attentive and professional. Family friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Spectacular view, delicious breakfast, very good service, enjoyed the walk in the garden and my son loved the play area - will definitely be back!
This is a great place to get breakfast or a little lunch. With a view that is just outstanding, the relaxed couches outside and the kids play area set a little further away it is a peaceful experience.
Inside the restaurant is a large space well lit with natural light from the big windows and skylights.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and the portions were generous, but really it’s about the relaxed atmosphere, and the beauty of the surroundings.
Well worth a visit.
December 2013 saw our second visit to Vergelegen in as many months. We had been invited to attend a picnic at the estate to celebrate a friend’s 70th birthday. The picnic area is just past the impressive rose garden, and the tables are well spaced out among the camphor trees in the enchanted forest.
Had impromptu lunch here two weeks back. Beautiful interior & amazing outside seating area (fully booked so we sat inside). I had the pork belly, which was really lovely and a very decent portion at that. My boyfriend had the siracha chicken pizza which he also enjoyed. Also lovely wines & one of the most beautiful settings we have ever visited

Stables is a little tricky for me to review. I'm generally skeptical of the over-manicured, pristine, modern wine farms - and Vergelegen is clearly one of the better ones. In addition to this, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by my burger. However, the helping was good (as it should be for an expensive R120). The sandwiches my companions had looked a lot better though, and were favourably received. The service was also good and it's a beautiful setting sitting outside. I wouldn't go back, but with a different meal choice I may have felt differently about the experience.
