We had the best meal in a long time. Steaks were perfect, our waitress excellent and knowledgeable. Great ambience too. And those chocolate vodka shooters....
We were on holiday from the UK and a friend suggested we try Hussars. The best meal ever!!! I had chocolate chilli chicken , it was to die for.

If you enjoy meat; then this particular Hussar grill will always meet your high expectations.
It is refreshing when the front of house staff are able to engage and impart the perfection of the meat, age, cut, preparation, and carry across the dedicated excellence in preparation of the kitchen.
Whatever you order is perfectly prepared. Even the accompanyments are delciously prepared.
I travel very frequently, at times times twice weekly, from Durbanville to waterstone Hussar grill, for their perfectly aged, tender Rib-eye steak. Never once been dissapointed there. You don't even need a sauce. The prepared taste of the quality of the grilled meat, is perfect just as it is too. On route from Durbanville to Hussar grill at waterstone.....I pass easily 10 or more good steak houses and grills, for the reason that excellence cannot be replaced by convenience.
Staff attentive, yet never intrusive. Good choice of wines and quite frankly, whether a relaxed meal out, or a business engagement, it is the perfect setting which compliments them both.
No matter where you are, the trip or journey for that matter to Hussar grill Waterstone is well worth it. It is consistantly good and always consistant.
An enjoyable dining experience I gladly part with money for time and again!!

I really enjoyed my dinner here. Firstly, I was so impressed with the complimentary crisps and olives, my rump steak was perfectly cooked and all the sides that accompanied it were so fresh and tasty. The second thing that really impressed me was the complimentary chocolate vodka shot (?) after our meal. It was truly delicious and I will definitely make a come back very soon. Thank you! 😊
Ons kom uit Nederland en het onlangs in jou restaurant geëet. Die bitterballen ('n Nederlandse snack) was goed van smaak. Ons het baie geniet van die steaks en sal vas nog wel 'n kom eet.
Een minpuntje is dat jy vir die toiletgang 'n flink eind in die winkelsentrum moet loop. Een gerenomeerd restaurant moet tog wel 'n toilettenblok in die zaak hebben, as jy tydens die eet moet, is jouw eten koud as jy weer terug is
We had a late Sunday lunch at this branch. Hussars never disappoints and there's a great level of consistency amongst the branches. I ordered my fillet bleu and it was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was really great - he was knowledgable and attentive. The complimentary chocolate vodka shot at the end of our meal made it even better. It's always a nice little touch.
I'm a seasoned Hussar Grill diner and have tried many of the different outlets that they have and I would recommend this one for those who live close by and crave a good game steak (or any other kind of steak for that matter). Service is always top notch and the waiters are always extremely knowledgeable about wine parings especially for the game steaks. If you're not seasoned in pairing ask the waiter and they will gladly assist.
I've been to Hussar MANY times and usually stick with my favourite ("Grilled Hog Ribs"). Tender, tender, tender! Perfectly prepared, as always. Bitterballen starter was amaaazzzing. Have to compliment the service at Somerset West. Was really, really awesome! Our waiter "easily" managed ALL his tables, no pressure at all. Kept our drinks topped up, smiles flowing and paid close enough attention, without being intrusive at all (which a lot of other restaurants fail at). Probably the best service at a restaurant I've had in years.
The steak is to perfection! It was soft and succulent! I also ordered the steak tartar, and it was just as amazing. Enjoyed the fact that we could bring our own wine, and our waiter was still always there ready to pour it.

We had great expectations since we know the Hussar Grill in Rondebosch. The service was kind and attentive and the food was overall tasty and good.
Here are some points and I hope the Hussar Grill in Somerset will improve a bit:
The toilet door needs to be fixed, if not properly closed, the door opens by itself, which makes it not a good view. Alternatively you can place a nice painted partition wall, too.
To be fair preparing food for 6 people isn't easy, once everything should come to the table at the same time. Still, we have waited almost 1 hour for our food. Putting the Rondebosch Hussar as a bench mark, the preparation could take less time (maybe 40 min? :).
Concerning the temperature inside the restaurant, either the air-condition can be turned on or the doors can be open properly at both ends for air circulation.
I don't know how strict the interior is given by the Hussar Franchise, but it could be (slightly) more individually designed for Somerset, since it is not Rondebosch. This is just my opinion.
Wonderful ambience, well priced and great quality grills and sides. Wines to every wine connoisseur's desire and taste. A must try for any carnivore!
