Walked in during load shedding and was warmly welcomed by the owner, was a busy Sunday evening, the food takes a while, but you are guaranteed the best fresh food to be served
Awesome restaurant, we always visit when we are on the South Coast, the food is amazing
Fantastic food, great ambience and brilliant service. The muscle pot is a real winner. A gem on the South Coast. Thank you Julien and Daniel!
Amazing food, the chef knows what he is doing. Good service, with the manager checking on you once in a while. They only thing thing that I would improve is the atmosphere. A bit more effort in the look and effect of the place.
Good food, the prawns are good, but smaller in size. We also had the yellow fin tuna, the fried hake and chips which were all very tasty. The only complaint is the service, which is laid back.
What an adventure!! Chef Julian a humble, polite, hardworking talented chef. Being formerly from Scottburgh, I am in awe of the level of food at this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. I couldn’t fault any dish presented to me.
The fresh seared tuna steaks with wasabi mayo and honey, soy Balsamic reduction was heavenly
The mussel pot was ridiculously value for money a combo of prawns and mussels the creamy sauce 🙌🙌. The devil chill prawn 🦐 was asian style with lots fresh coriander. Wow!! Must try if ever in the area
Fantastic service and perfectly cooked food absolutely loved it, the mussel pot is a must when going there and the hake fillet i ate was spot on
Food was great. Well worth a visit when in the area. The mussels is the speciality of the house and is recommended. Pricing is also reasonable compared with the quality of the food.
What an amazing experience!!! No words can describe the food or the service!!! Friendliness from the moment you arive at the door. Tuna melting like butter in your mouth and a mussel pot that burst with flavour!!! This was an experience to remember.

We absolutely loved this restaurant. Our family of 4 arrived for an early supper and after seeing the board of chef's specials we opted to try a range of dishes. The calamari starter was succulent and perfectly seasoned and the mussel pot was deliciously creamy, served with a crusty baguette. We shared the tuna steak with sesame and wasabi, and the prawns which came with delicious risotto-like yellow rice. But the hero of our evening was the seafood bisque, made to order and jam packed with sweet crab, mussels, calamari and prawns, all in a fragrant tomato broth flavored with saffron. Chef/owner Julien and his staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. All-in-all a fabulous evening and we will definitely be returning!
Probably the best restaurant in town and worth a visit if you are in the south coast. The owner chef (who is French) is well involved and present. Tasty food and go for the specials. The Onion soup is definitely a signature dish, so at least get the taster. Note: It is called The Frenchman, C Breeze is old name for the same place, it does not have a website and ring for updates menu/prices.

Chef Julian created a 7 course gastronomic experience for us that was amazing. Attention to detail and attentiveness were outstanding.Highly recommend traveling south to experience his passion and flair
What a find! Real authentic food : Julien - The Frenchman - knows his business. The Onion Soup is a must. Love the idea of a taster portion. Kingklip had a tasty lemon butter with fresh Coriander. Will definitely be back for a Tuna Special 😋
Absolutely stunning French Onion Soup…venue and desserts! Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!!! Well done Julien and team♥️
Wow, what an experience! Went there for my 21st birthday and had the best cuisine I’ve ever tasted. The Frenchman told me I was quiet during our visit, but I kept my words for this review. What an amazing experience. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in France, the food was the best I’ve ever had, and Julien (owner and Frenchman), made us feel at home, he treats every table like they are the only ones in the restaurant and he visits often, sharing stories about his journey. I would recommend The Frenchman to every visitor coming to Scottburgh. This is a MUST on your vacation bucket list.
Thank you for the best food and the best service.
What an amazing find! The calamari starter was lovely, but the kingklip was absolutely devine! The wine selection is good, and wine is served at proper temperatures! I will definitely make another stop here before we head home!
And yes, the place is a little expensive but the food is worth every cent!
UPDATE!!! well, we went back as planned, and the prawns were definitely worth it! Can't wait to return next year!
We did not expect to have amazing French seafood on our trip and Julian did not disappoint. The food is among the best we have had and is most among the best restaurants in the area. We loved that chats with you and your passion for food shows. Next time we are that side we will be back!
Really love this place! Great food and great service!
Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a treat. Julien is a fantastic host, and the food is fresh!
We enjoyed the prawns, kingklip and fish n chips! There is a skate area for the kids as an added bonus.
Thank goodness at last a proper restaurant, not new to SCOTTBURGH
restaurant renamed and revamped
Lovely menu everything cooked and supervised by owner. I was there Saturday lunchtime which was a little quite but had a delightful meal. Looking forward to my next visit.
