Review The Frenchman - Scottburgh

S M
Probably the best restaurant in town and worth a visit if you are in the south coast. The owner chef (who is French) is well involved and present. Tasty food and go for the specials. The Onion soup is definitely a signature dish, so at least get the taster. Note: It is called The Frenchman, C Breeze is old name for the same place, it does not have a website and ring for updates menu/prices.

What a find! Real authentic food : Julien - The Frenchman - knows his business. The Onion Soup is a must. Love the idea of a taster portion. Kingklip had a tasty lemon butter with fresh Coriander. Will definitely be back for a Tuna Special šŸ˜‹

Wow, what an experience! Went there for my 21st birthday and had the best cuisine Iā€™ve ever tasted. The Frenchman told me I was quiet during our visit, but I kept my words for this review. What an amazing experience. The atmosphere made us feel like we were in France, the food was the best Iā€™ve ever had, and Julien (owner and Frenchman), made us feel at home, he treats every table like they are the only ones in the restaurant and he visits often, sharing stories about his journey. I would recommend The Frenchman to every visitor coming to Scottburgh. This is a MUST on your vacation bucket list. Thank you for the best food and the best service.

What an amazing find! The calamari starter was lovely, but the kingklip was absolutely devine! The wine selection is good, and wine is served at proper temperatures! I will definitely make another stop here before we head home! And yes, the place is a little expensive but the food is worth every cent! UPDATE!!! well, we went back as planned, and the prawns were definitely worth it! Can't wait to return next year!

We did not expect to have amazing French seafood on our trip and Julian did not disappoint. The food is among the best we have had and is most among the best restaurants in the area. We loved that chats with you and your passion for food shows. Next time we are that side we will be back!

Walked in during load shedding and was warmly welcomed by the owner, was a busy Sunday evening, the food takes a while, but you are guaranteed the best fresh food to be served

Awesome restaurant, we always visit when we are on the South Coast, the food is amazing

Fantastic food, great ambience and brilliant service. The muscle pot is a real winner. A gem on the South Coast. Thank you Julien and Daniel!

Amazing food, the chef knows what he is doing. Good service, with the manager checking on you once in a while. They only thing thing that I would improve is the atmosphere. A bit more effort in the look and effect of the place.

Good food, the prawns are good, but smaller in size. We also had the yellow fin tuna, the fried hake and chips which were all very tasty. The only complaint is the service, which is laid back.

What an adventure!! Chef Julian a humble, polite, hardworking talented chef. Being formerly from Scottburgh, I am in awe of the level of food at this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. I couldnā€™t fault any dish presented to me.
The fresh seared tuna steaks with wasabi mayo and honey, soy Balsamic reduction was heavenly
The mussel pot was ridiculously value for money a combo of prawns and mussels the creamy sauce šŸ™ŒšŸ™Œ. The devil chill prawn šŸ¦ was asian style with lots fresh coriander. Wow!! Must try if ever in the area

Food was great. Well worth a visit when in the area. The mussels is the speciality of the house and is recommended. Pricing is also reasonable compared with the quality of the food.

What an amazing experience!!! No words can describe the food or the service!!! Friendliness from the moment you arive at the door. Tuna melting like butter in your mouth and a mussel pot that burst with flavour!!! This was an experience to remember.

We absolutely loved this restaurant. Our family of 4 arrived for an early supper and after seeing the board of chef's specials we opted to try a range of dishes. The calamari starter was succulent and perfectly seasoned and the mussel pot was deliciously creamy, served with a crusty baguette. We shared the tuna steak with sesame and wasabi, and the prawns which came with delicious risotto-like yellow rice. But the hero of our evening was the seafood bisque, made to order and jam packed with sweet crab, mussels, calamari and prawns, all in a fragrant tomato broth flavored with saffron. Chef/owner Julien and his staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. All-in-all a fabulous evening and we will definitely be returning!

We came to C Breeze on the recommendation of family and it did not disappoint. The food was all delicious and scrumptious and tasty! My hubby had the mussel pot which was amazing and the sauce perfectly makes the meal. He had rump with the special sauce which was devine and the rump was so tender and cooked to perfection. I had the red Thai Curry and it was so tasty and well flavored - big enough for two. The best and perfect touch is Julian. His hands on approach and interaction made our night. Will definitely be back again. Thanks guys

Excellent service, fantastic food with a real authentic French chef , Julian! The Tuna was just perfectly seared with sesame seeds and wasabi mayo - great combination. The Prawns were beautiful cooked and plated. Overall the jewel of Scottburgh!!!

Presentation is great but the fish was totally raw, when I sent it back the chef tried to convince me it's sushi not fish and need to be raw.... I think tuna is fish and if I wanted sushi that was what I would have ordered. The lamb shank had very bland taste and the meal was not enough for main starter size...
I was offered a double portion but had no idea single would so little.

Had an amazing dinner, mussel pot starter was so tasty with a nice warm baguette to dip in the sauce. Sol was delicious as was prawns and finished off with a creme brƻlƩe.

Everything about C Breeze is about the sea. Ā The sea is in full view. Ā As the name of the restaurant implies, fine zephyrs blow on from the sea and make the air around this restaurant refreshing. Ā And the food is the finest fresh sea food you can get. Ā Nice friendly atmosphere and good service. Ā They are well known for their French mussel pot "Dieppoisse" and for good reason--its basically the freshest mussels and prawns cooked in a sublime creamy sauce (not heavy). Ā Also, try the fish cakes. Ā Desserts are nice too. Ā I had the Fondant; it was nice and rich (but not excessively rich).Just another reason to love Scottburgh.Just one thing--the inside could really use some air conditioning.

Excellent! Chef Julian has excelled himself. Good service, good food. We had no reservation and where told we would have to wait because the kitchen was very busy. The food was well worth the wait and the service was so good it didnt seem like a wait at all.

I had a really great lunch at C Breeze after a day at the beach. The owner and chef, Julian, is originally from France and very friendly. He came to check on us a few times while we were eating. I'll definitely go back when I'm in town again

C Breeze - aka Julien's is run by the same owner as the restaurant at the crocodile farm (Le Rendez-Vous), and serves authentic, genuine French cuisine (the owner Julien and Catherine Lepront are from Dieppe in France). Ā

C Breeze restaurant boasts the 'Trip Advisor 2015 Certificate of Excellence' award as selected by locals and visitors alike, and whenever Scottburgh comes to mind, you will find that most people highly recommend this restaurant in tiny Scottburgh.Ā

What a truly inspirational chef and restaurant! This accomodating and diverse little gem is up there with some of the best seafood that I have ever eaten served with a true passion and knowledge of food that is unrivalled!

FULL REVIEW TO FOLLOW SOON.

*Recommendation: If you are wanting something truly special, you won't go wrong making a visit to 7 Cornier Street!!

Food was exceptional and well priced. Best food I have had on the south coast of KZN. Chef came to the table regularly. His signature mussels are to die for.

What a restaurant. Heard from friends it was the place to eat on the south coast. The mussel pot dieppoise. (Home recipe of the French chef owner Julian) is to die for. The chef will help you with your choices and can adapt his menu to your specific tests or diet. Even bating....don't miss out or you'll be sorry.
