The food is amazing. The atmosphere is vibey and relaxing. The owner is so cool and so accommodating. I highly recommend the sushi especially!
Awesome experience. Kiki was amazing and the food was fantastic. Thanks for the wonderful food.
The manager is very friendly and remembers her customers. She’s also always dressed as a 90s RnB singer which is great. The spring rolls were big but enjoyable. The sushi was good too, although I did find a bone in my salmon!
Quaint little place, friendly staff and great sushi! I must admit, I was not expecting the best after reading negative reviews but I’ve had a lovely dining experience 👌
I was rather apprehensive after reading the reviews for this place, but decided to give it a try anyway, having bought the all you can eat for 2 voucher from Hyperli.
What a pleasant surprise! Kiki was a gracious hostess- fully aware of her negative reviews and working hard to improve. The sushi was well made and quick to the table. We did have the place all to ourselves, so I'm sure that made a difference, though there was a steady stream of take away orders coming out of the kitchen as well. Definitely got my money's worth, will definitely be going back.
Booked the eat as much as you can for 2 people for R150. Obviously a big bargain. They are a bit cheap with the fish ingredients in the sushi but still very tasty. Sweet old lady that runs the place. Would go again
Quait Asian restaurant...about 5 minutes from the office is always a great lunchtime getaway.
Fresh sushi will not dissapoint and all the Chinese favourites are also available...fried rice is always the best....noodles are good too but very very oily...I tried fried ice cream for the first time-interesting experience...I won't give my opinion...try it yourself and make up your mind..overall-not amazing place but you can have a decent fresh Chinese meal at an affordable price for the portion size.
Amazing place. Food was fantastic and Kiki made us feel at home. Awesome experience. Great food and the taste is excellent. Will definitely be back.
30.03.2017 Without fail there is always food in our office. This time for our wellness day we got treated to some really healthy options and platters of sushi takeaways. I'm beginning to love sushi more and more and was curious about these extra long length pieces and the ones wrapped in yellow. Have no idea what it's called but they were tasty.
I find the sushi pretty good and I have been a customer for a couple of years. Pricing is fair and i find the best meals are actually on the chinesse menu.
I have read these reviews and I did not have the same negative experiences. I visited Kawayi about a week ago with a friend on a Saturday night. I called ahead of time to book and the owner sounded a bit rushed but was still friendly and asked that I please ensure the coupon was not expired. Once myself and my friend arrived and sat down, about 2-3 people did come to the gate, but nothing sketchy or out of the ordinary. The owner was very friendly and was having conversations with the other diners there (there were 2 other couples and 2 families). We had a Groupon all-you-can-eat special. The green tea was brought to us within 5 minutes. The waitresses (2) didn't speak much but had no problem understanding. We ordered a platter no. 10 . The owner brought half of the order after about 8 minutes as she said she didn't want us hungry and waiting before the rest came. Honestly, the sushi could have been packed tighter, but the food was fresh and very good. The rest of the order came about 9 minutes later. It was all very tasty. We even ordered additional sushi and it was brought quickly and was delicious. The owner was friendly from start to finish. I didn't hear any complaints from the other diners there and all seemed to be enjoying it.
My sister and I bought a voucher online for kawayi sushi bar. We had read the reviews online and were a bit sceptical but thought we'd give it a go non the less. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was lovely and the owner kept coming to check on us and see if everything was alright.
The sushi was a little loose and although the experience wasn't authentically japanese, the flavour and freshness of it was undeniable. All in all for a really reasonable price and for a super chilled no fuss meal, it was truly a delightful and surprising experience.
