Review Z-two - Sandton

Kate Sullivan
Love the sushi! As a family we have enjoyed a Sunday Sushi buffet. The Salmon sauce bowls are out of this world along with other sushi options. There are also chow mein and some meals.
Mickey J
Amazing sushi, all you can eat sushi from Tuesday to Sundays. I've gone for all you can eat sushi here often, it's delicious and well priced! Went here like 2 or 3 days over the last 3 weeks- and each time the quality of the food was superb
Sharona Padaychee
Best Chinese cuisine, from sizzling hot plates, to cool sushi and more. Also not badly priced, very friendly service. We regularly enjoy this little gem.
Claira Cain
Excellent sushi and unbelievable value on their 2-for-1 Monday special. The conveyor belt was teeming with pretty food on the usual colour-coded plates so even though the restaurant was full, we got a wide selection of lovely things. Best to book ahead if you're any coming as any more than a couple.

Had just finished at gym with my fiance and we came here after having a sushi craving that needed to be dealt with and we were stuck in evening traffic looking for a place in the area (house sitting so not my usual spot). Found this place in Douglasdale Village and I'm so glad we did! We had an absolutely awesome evening filled with tons of food and lots of smiles as we devoured delicious sushi, soups, spring rolls and others in the Wednesday all you can eat special. Everything was delicious and we were so blown away that we're excited to come back! Staff were friendly and lively. Definitely recommend for those wanting a sushi experience in the area.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, stunningly decorated, friendly staff. We sat down and ordered food. It arrived so quickly. There was a nice bustle but still very private. Will def see us again. Well done !!

Amazing sushi. One of the better buffets I have had in a while. Everything was fresh and great quality.

Love the sushi. It's always fresh. Very slow service on half price sushi nights. Could do with an extra waiter or so. But still my favourite sushi spot. I really enjoy their salmon sashimi. Also the white rabbit sweets when paying the bill is a treat.

Lovely hidden Sushi restaurant in Douglasdale, fresh and great tasting sushi, good service and a lovely atmosphere! They have specials from Monday to Thursday such as All-you-can-eat and half price on majority of the sushi.

One of the best conveyer sushi places I've been. The service was amazing and the staff are extremely knowledgeable about their menu and the items available. I really enjoyed several of the dishes off of the belt (not depicted due to the excited fervour I had to eat them) but it's worth it to explore the other types of dishes on the menu - from the dim sum, to the soups, the sizzling beef to the dessert sushi! Really affordable meals that make for a good lazy-cooking day or a nice way to spoil the family. The atmosphere is easy and casual and I appreciated that. What a Gem.

The service is sometimes not up to standard. But most of the time, sushi is on point, service is good and I really have no complaints.
Marlene Muller
Great restaurant. Atmosphere is very pleasant. Clean, nice smelling and decorated beautifully. The service is really good with friendly staff. Our drinks and food was served really quickly. The deep fried salmon sushi was steaming and absolutely delicious. We ordered several different dishes and were pleased that all sushi with salmon in were generously sized portions. The cream cheese salmon roses were sublime. The beef dumplings very tasty and the chillie sauce a firm favourite. Mojito cocktail refreshing with fresh mint, delicately cut apple slivers and tiny lime slices...very nice.

Found this bug in my food, looks like some type of small roach. This kitchen is probably very dirty for them to have cooked this in the pot with the food. I am beyond disgusted. It is a pitty as I really liked their Crispy Chicken, but never again will I order from this dirty place.

The sushi is good but the salad, though generous, lacked finesse. The staff were very friendly and on the ball but the manager was very disengaged. The counters and condiments were sticky. Average.

After driving to Z2 restaurant in Douglasdale village shopping centre I order a simple vegetarian stir fry and when I get home I get a chicken stir fry! as a vegetarian, the worst thing that could happen is to order and get a damn chicken meal! Then I call the restaurant and I get attitude from a terrible individual who says that the manager is out then she proceeds to drop the phone on me as I am speaking! What terrible customer service and the damn manager says he can't do anything to help me! This is the worst service I have ever gotten and would never ever
recommend this highly disappointing excuse for a restaurant!

My friend and I had a lovely dining experience at Z Two. It's a hidden gem with what I believe to have some of the best sushi and dim sum in fourways.
Our waitress was charming and lovely and the manager tried his best to make sure our experience was comfortable.

Unfortunately a demanding customer walked in an hour before closing and was obnoxiously rude to the staff. In this instance I would say that the only drawback would be the lack of command to diffuse the situation by the manager.

All in all, it was a pleasant dining experience and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for delicious food at a more than reasonable price. We will be back!
Nadhiya
Jeez I love this place. Not for the service or atmosphere but for the food (and isnโ€™t that what Zomato is really about?) High quality sushi and dim sum with extremely generous portions. Their lunch box specials are amazing value for money. There are so many dim sum places now but this one definitely takes the cake for me๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Unbelievable sushi! Best I have had in a very long time ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ the service is also top notch. I will definitely be back to this delicious taste sensation of sushi.
Mandy
I was sorely disappointed by the food I got from Z Two. Having read the other reviews it seems their sushi is good so if you are ordering that, then you are probably fine. I ordered a chicken with cashew nut as well as a pork chow mein. The chicken dish had a thick, sickly sweet sauce that tasted like a dessert sauce and the chow mein was dry and flavourless. Iโ€™m usually pretty easy to please but this was honestly my least favourite Chinese ever.
Andrea L
Holy moly this place is DAMMMNNN good! Can I please declare my undying love??

I don't eat fish but I love sushi. This usually doesn't leave me with too many sushi options. But with this place, there are many!

We had the rising sun roll, dynamic roll and the beef spring rolls. There was a special on so we got free desert (I forgot what it was called but it was banana, Nutella and rice crispies. AMAZING).

The service is really friendly and efficient.

I wanted to add photos but I ate everything too fast. I'll add some next time.

I highly recommend this place!
Melissa Van Eden
OK this has to be the Best Sushi in Town!
Great vibe, tentative staff and delicious reasonably priced sushi! The deep fried sushi is out of this world and...they even have dessert sushi which is a must! ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‘Œ
Alessio Claudio Perotti
great place i very rarely miss a monday, but the service is a concern the waiters are looking everywhere but me and the manager doesnt enforce anything i had to get ginger myself please rectify thanks sushi is great though
Alexander Pittendrigh
We waited over 40 minutes for a few portions of sushi and one portion of duck.
The sushi was average at best and the duck was sinewy, fatty and bland.
FatCake101
Looking for vegetarian sushi has always been a mission, as there are not many varieties. This restaurant is different, it offers so many varieties of vegetarian sushiโ€™s.

The atmosphere is great here too and service is okay, the food may take some time to be served but itโ€™s worth the wait ! Definitely will be back for more sushi !
Nadia
Very poor service. Waited over 40 min for a few pieces of sushi, then lied to by the manager saying it's being packed. 20min later still being packed.... Previous experiences: getting orders wrong or missing items off of order.

Visited Z Two, Douglasdale this passed Monday for the 1/2 price special. Restaurant was extremely busy - got seated at the sushi bar - not sure that making a booking would make a difference however as service from wait staff isn't exactly fast or attentive. The manager, Andrew, is quite hands on and does his best to ensure each customer is satisfied. Restaurant is small but sleek definitely could do with extra seating maybe outside seeing as the sushi special is such a hit.
Sushi was fresh and there is a big variety to choose from, prices on a normal day are reasonable. I would visit the restaurant again, but on a less busy night.
Specials:
Monday - 1/2 price on all plates except Brown plates
Tuesday - Buy any 3 plates of the same colour and pay for 2
Wed & Thurs - Sushi buffet R299 pp
Daily lunchbox specials after 11am.
Rhonda Hamilton
If you like not the normal sushi options, then this is the place. Much of their premium or non-standard sushi is divine, filling and well prepared. The decor and atmosphere is pleasing, clean in neutral tones. Manager was attentive. Wait staff on the ball, bar for when we were looking for the bill. The dim sum is excellent and very tasty.
We ordered UberEats and while the takeaway was tasty, it was not a the same standard as the in-restaurant food. When busy, service can be slow but on the whole, a great sushi place
Deysellydia
Situated in a shopping square between other restaurants and shops.
Good food bad service.
Restaurant has a fresh look and modern decor.
Casual restaurant. Sit down or take away. Only indoor seating available.
Denille Boucher
After putting our names down to be seated for four and expecting a phone call when our table is ready, as per the blond guy trying to be the manager, we still waited over an hour. Just to find more than 10 people after us were seated. Poor service. Thanks for spoiling a birthday

(Long review, I know)

After seeing many recommendations for Z Two in Douglasdale as a good option for sushi I decided to go take a look today to get an idea of pricing and options as their menu is nowhere online (soon to be on Zomato).

We had 5 different types of springrolls, 4 savoury & 1 sweet (we ended up taking a dessert springroll option as they were out of the chocolate brownie sushi that actually drew my interest to the shop in the first place - every resteraunt has experienced a shortage of something before so I don't hold it against them).

Let me try keep it short...

Value: Amazing! the portions were much much bigger than the average springroll size - they were all at least the length and thickness of those weird 'jelly tube' toys (pic couldn't be attached but google it and you'll know what I mean) with the halloumi springrolls being even bigger.

Service: Average, very slow. Friendly enough but nothing 'wow', everything took super long to arrive but we didn't mind as we weren't in a rush. It was much more time consuming than it should have been considering deep frying a few springrolls is probably the fastest thing they could do in terms of food prep there and it took at least 40 minutes to get an order of 8 springrolls and a further 5-10 minutes for our dessert springrolls (kept in the kitchen longer so the icecream wouldn't melt while we ate the savoury springrolls I assume).

Quality/taste: We had the Beef, Chicken, Vegetable and Halloumi springrolls and then the chocolate dessert springrolls (called the Kawasura roll). Our favourite was definitely the beef, it was so well cooked and flavored, I think any of their beef dishes will be to die for. All the savoury springrolls (except halloumi) had more cabbage than anything else which was quite disappointing as cabbage is quite a bland flavour. The springrolls were excessively oily but not inedible at all, just a bit more oily than average springrolls.

Allergens/ ingredients: They don't include a description next to each item so when we ordered the halloumi springrolls we were (pleasantly) surprised to find they had avo and mushrooms accompanying the cheese - it tasted great but could have been a disappointment if we didn't eat either of those two ingredients. The Kawasura roll came with ice cream trickled with a very tasty Bar 1 type sauce and the roll itself (described by the waiter simply as a 'chocolate springroll') came stuffed with nuts and strawberries smothered in chocolate - I loved it but my brother isn't a fan of berries in dessert and found the strawberries overpowering, the nuts could also be an issue for those with allergies.

Overall thoughts: It is a nice place, good food but when compared in terms of price and taste to my favorite sushi place (Yamazaki / Yamakados in Cedar Square and Centurion Lifestyle Centre) I definitely prefer Yamakados. Yamakados have a R165 anytime sushi buffet (all week, all day) including fried rice & noodle dishes, springrolls, soups and more so I would say they are better value and cater for more tastes as not everyone enjoys 'real' sushi (the Z Two sushi discounts and buffets do not include springrolls or noodles or anything other than their 'real' sushi and is only twice a week) >> All this being said I think that Z Two has a wider variety of options (some interesting combos like a prawn & condensed milk california roll) and maybe if you compare prices per plate without specials taken into consideration it may even be cheaper.

Great fresh sushi ๐Ÿฃ. The service is so so, the waiter seemed a bit confused at times ๐Ÿ˜œ. Overall good experience.
I would definitely make another trip to Z Two.
Lorene Du Plessis
We really like Chinese food and sushi, and this was the second time we went to Z Two in the past two weeks... (I had a permanent sushi craving).

Their sushi is super fresh, so creative (think tempura prawn on a sushi roll covered in condensed milk!), and very well priced. Their fushion sushi is really amazing!

They also have a small selection of cocktails, and a sufficient wine list.

I only remembered to take pics when we had the first fee plates, it's too good to delay eating! Haha. Their dessert sushi is divine, though very rich (brownies and cream cheese is a very decadent combination).

We will definitely return often to Z Two! Go on a Monday, all the sushi is half price ๐Ÿ˜‰
Nicola Hemsley
Waited over an hour for 4 plates of sushi!!! Good sushi but incredibly slow service. They really need to do something about the lack of service especially on a Monday night when itโ€™s busy.
Philip Goosen
This is actually a great little joint. We did opt for UberEATS so can really not comment on the decor and service, but the actual food did not disappoint. It was especially the beef chiw mein that impressed me, the balance of soy and sesame oil was perfect and the beef was succulent and soft. Definitely my go to spot should the craving hit me again
Vixi Murray
Food was absolutely delicious!!! Sushi so nice and fresh and good portions. Dim Sum so good!! Definitely think Iโ€™ve found my new favourite Chinese restaurant. I was very impressed.
Shannaheyes85
What a lovely sushi and Chinese restaurant. The sushi is amazing, as is the decor and feel of the place. Will definitely be back to try some of the other meals.
Andre Prinsloo
The flavours of the fusion sushi is great. Very creative. Rice was a bit undercooked. The decor is very modern and nice atmosphere. Loads of parking available.
Natasha Levenderis
Stunning looking restaurant, and that's where it ends. Sushi was bland and definitely not authentic. The rice was undercooked! Too many of the sushi plates on the conveyor were smothered in mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce or honey, sometimes all three! If you're looking to taste refined sushi, this is not the place to go. We did not eat off the cooked menu, so cannot comment.
Jessica-jade
Most amazing place to go for dinner. We had Tom Yum and Won Ton Soup - both amazing and tasty. And then sushi as always, their fusion Sushi is to die for but if that's not for you then normal sushi is the go to and equally good. Absolutely love Z-Two, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Our new go to Sushi restaurant. We've been a couple of times and it never disappoints, even with Take aways.
Lois Qutob
One of my absolute favorite sushi joints in Johannesburg. So different in ther fusion sushi choices. Its fresh and delicious. I recommend the cucumber roll, haloumi sashimi and the nutella banana roll for dessert. Monday special is half price, wed and thurs all you can eat R200.

There's only 2 things that can be improved upon: speed of order and deep fried sushi. I find it's much too heavily battered.
Carly
Phenomenal strawberry, cream cheese and salmon sushi-wow. Just delicious. The whole meal was amazing. We had a bit of everything and it was all so tasty. Thank you
Isabel Wessels
This is the second time I've ordered food here and it deserves some recognition. The food has been amazing and soooo tasty, I'll definitely be going there on a regular basis. For something different I tried the halloumi spring rolls and all I can say is wow!
Domenique May
Tried their sushi and Chinese food and it was honestly delicious! Their Sushi for one impressed me and the amount of fish they include in their sushi is surprising. I can understand their price reasoning. I'm also impressed with their decor, considering majority chinese/sushi places I have been to haven't paid much attention to their interior, but this place, it definitely has! I say it's worth trying
Buhle Nothando Vilakazi
Congrats to Z Two for providing what can only be described as the WORST SUSHI EVER!!!
I don't even know where to start, that dumpling looking thing over there is supposed to be a tempura prawn and if you're keen for a steak size sashimi head over to Z Two. Won't even get into the roll that's drowning in sauce. Everything was spectacularly bad, couldn't bring myself to finish this.
Do your self and give this place a miss.
Taneal Cooper
Great atmosphere to this place. Friendly employees and amazing food. Definitely a place worth visiting! Menu has a variety to choose from and the milkshakes are really yummy! I recommend the sweet and sour beef.
Crissy Van Zyl
Very very very impressed! It took me a while to try this place out.. but I'm so glad I did! Amazing starter, amazing main, amazing service.. amazing everything! Only downfall: They don't have a liquor license which left me rather disappointed, BUT they made a plan for me and got some from their neighbours! #happiness

My starter was the Z2 Spring Roll... and I think I've fallen in love!! The chances of me ordering spring rolls anywhere else again are VERY slim!! It's filled with mozzarella cheese, avo and glass noodles.. and it completely blew my mind!! The avo held itself together so well after being deep fried, and the gross "mushyness" that one would expect after deep frying an avo, wasn't there at all! When I took my first bite the mozzarella cheese formed this beautiful string of deliciousness! Need.more.now!

The sushi was unbelievably fresh and they were so generous with the sizes of the Salmon Sashimi that I got! The rest of my sushi = pure heaven!

I saw someone eating the Sizzling Beef Hot Plate.. and I'm surprised that I didn't get up and ask him to have a bite ;) because it looked and smelled unbelievable!!! DEF trying this next time!!

Wow, could the service be any slower or the staff any more miserable? We went on a Sunday night when it was empty, but it still took almost an hour to receive our food. Our waitress looked like she hated every second of her experience in the restaurant, and despite the food being alright, I would never go back just based on how ridiculously poor the service was.
Beashi0503
I refuse to give tip because the waiter keeps me waiting for such long time. I don't think he's well-trained. Sushi is tasty. But I'm not satisfied with the service and atmosphere.
Dale
You always know what you are going to get when you go here. The food is always good. Cooked dishes don't lose their standard depending on the day you go and the sushi is great every day. Pricing is also great. The service is on the slow, disorganised side, but that's their only downfall.
Cari
I have been to this restaurant twice...not my cup of tea. I have only tried the sushi, which wasn't great. I found that they put a lot of sauce on the sushi which over powers the dish.
Robyn Ford
Straight off the bat - do yourself a favour and get takeaways! This sushi bar produces some of the freshest and tastiest sushi I've ever had but the service is appaling. The waitresses have no clue how to serve, they speak to each other as if they are a bunch of school kids on the afternoon bus home, so much so that you have to shout to be heard over them. They have not learnt the menu, they are slow to bring drinks and they mess up orders without even trying. The management is even worse - there are 2 youngsters who sit outside smoking all night, oblivious to the guest's needs and when you tell them that you are not happy with the service they don't know what to do about it.ย

But the sushi is delicious, interesting and professionally made and the sushi chefs are very capable, pleasant guys who will make you anything you want, and they do so with a smile. Cappucinos are also great and on a Tuesday night you can get 3 plates for the price of 2.
Jess Grobler
May 2017/ clearly predicted the future. Terrible service these days and the conveyor has had only edamame beans since 7:30. Sad.

Feb 2017/ I don't even want to write this review because I don't want people crowding out my favourite sushi place but I just have to publically acknowledge how great Z2 is. Their sushi is magnificent, the restaurant is awesome, service is great. They have half price sushi on Monday guys. Please don't all rush there at 6:30. And if you do, please just save me a seat.
Sushi-Sue
Wed and Thurs they have an all you can eat buffet for R200- a bit more than most buffets but the sashimi is super thick and delicioussss.... perhaps even had too much of it and was on a sushaay high for far too long. (is that even possible?). Great for dinner and wine - manager is sweet and very accommodating
Godfrey De Meyer
I'm not a sushi fan so I tried their sizzling beef which was absolutely amazing. But be warned:we waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive which was inexcusable as it was not even half full on the week night we were there. I mentioned this to management and they said they would work on it. There is a small wine list but they're not licensed yet but you can order a glass as they can bring it over from the neighbouring Banjaara.
Janet Watermeyer
Food very very ordinary. There is a much better Chinese rstaurant called Kakoa in the Pnp center across the rosd close to the kfc. Fantastic food!
Foodle
Dragged friendy here cos I had been before and enjoyed the sweet and sour prawn and the reasonable prices on a previous occasion. We were in the mood for something spectacular to brighten up a hard week. Luckily we weren't in a hurry because the waiting period for the food was just too long!! Hope they can improve this because they would get perfect scores then! My sizzling prawn with fried rice was to die for. Hot, garlicky and super tasty. If you don't like spicy it would be a bit much but I love a touch of chili. Friendy's sizzling beef was to double die for! We both swooned in ecstacy trading mouthfuls. As one does. Totally made up for the tardiness. However it's definitely something for management to work on. Absolutely yummy dishes, friendly staff, nicely buzzy. But please improve serving time: waiting over half an hour is plain unacceptable. Quality of the food and value for money means we will be back!!
Heather Hook
Popped in to order a takeaway the other evening with a friend. Extensive menu offering Dim Sum, all your usual stir-fries and what not - as well as sushi.
Staff are friendly and it was quite busy, the sushi belt was also well stocked.
I ordered two portions of fashion sandwiches and a portion of california rolls, only R 66 - affordable and super tasty.ย
Took quite a long time to prepare - but worth the wait.
Will certainly visit again :)
Bronwynne W
What a great find! Amazingly good food and dim sum with choices of sushi and Chinese food! Well priced and great service. Not the place for a romantic evening out, tables quite close together.
Juanita Matias
The first time we had takeaways and were pleasantly surprised. Was so tasty and of excellent quality, we decided to give them a try as a sit-down. The food was good but you couldn't complain about the service because there wasn't any.
Coreen Walstra
Great sushi spot in Douglasdale. Awesome selection of sushi, freshly made and it tastes delicious. It's very well priced for the type of sushi you're getting. Definitely worth a try!
Bianca
Perfect little sushi spot! It was so full when we got there because of the 50% off special - but the manager quickly got us a seat at the conveyor belt. The salmon is fresh and everything tasted amazing! This was really a good special for the variety and quality of sushi we got. Loved it! You can book my spot for every ย monday!
Claire Opperman
One of the best sushi spots I have been to. The sushi offerings are fab. I tried new dishes and I now have a new crispy salmon fave (teriyaki sauce FTW) Our waitress was very friendly and the sushi chefs are on the ball. Definitely going back soon!
Must Love Pudding
Let's begin by mentioning that you are welcomed with many friendly smiles and hellos. Once seated, your friendly waiter is at your assistance and always around when you need them. Sushi is freshly prepared and tastes amazing. Z Two are very creative with their sushi and very generous with their Salmon at a reasonable price. Definitely a must on your sushi to eat list. Well done!

What a strange dinner.
Started out with let's try a new restaurant and finding this sushi place online.
We get there the place is busy, a good sign
Neat and tidy dekor and tasty looking sushi on the belt.
It being a Thursday there is a sushi buffet , I don't like the price of sushi, so eat as much as you can is my kind of deal.
We order some sushi of the menu to try and start taking some sushi of the belt, did we find some tasty sushi, on taste and presentation a solid 4 rating, but where is the sushi we ordered, 30 minutes in and no sign of them after 45 minutes we have stopped taking sushi of the belt as there is a large pile of empty plates stacked up and I need to safe space for the ordered sushi.
Straight out of Frankenstein kitchen arrive the Mr Hide sushi.
The lethal wasabi parcel, don't know who decided to basically fill sushi with about 20grams of wasabi JoJo spat hers out, I kept mine down with the sand like texture eliciting sensations from my body I have never had before, it was bad.
But still there was the seared tuna and salmon sashimi to go it was like leather, dry and there was so much of it I had to bite chunks of it and have the rice separate, I would not consider it sushi.
Then the crown achievement the special hand roll, it basically had salmon off cuts and some unrecognizable brown paste.
After the food of nightmares I have to rate this place a 1.5 try the sushi and only the sushi you know don't cross to the dark side and try something new of the menu.
This place's kitchen is possessed and not in a good way.
Leigh-Anne Povey
I just happened to walk past the owner as he was speaking to a staff member and I am absolutely disgusted. He was refusing to pay them above minimum wage, never mind treating him with absolute disrespect, threatening to fire him for requesting a legal norm in our country. I will never go back.
Andrew Davidson
Very pleasantly surprised. The sushi is very good quality and there is a good variety (although many not traditional). The service is a bit slow, but the experience was good.
Dana Booth
Delicious sushi! And a huge variety of sushi as well. We ordered a combo and a salmon special, all of which was fresh and nicely presented. Their ice tea is also great, and now comes in a sugar free version. Will have to work my way around this menu!
It take quite a long time to prepare, but at least we know it was made fresh and hadn't been sitting around, and the service can be a bit slow. Also if you want the soya sauce with less sodium you have to ask for it, they don't have it on the table.
The decor is really nice inside and I love the way they have done it all in all a positive experience
Stuart Malcolm Cochrane
We love our sushi and we were in need of a new place to try. All I can say is we have found it. Z Two has great sushi and so reasonable. Especially the buffet on Thursdays. Great restaurant and friendly staff too.
Stacey Faber
Got to try this place tonight and was pleasantly surprised! It was a full house! Monday's they have a 50% off special for sit down guests! Sushi is well priced! The yummy rolls are my fave! ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿค there are also well priced dishes for those who don't do sushi! On Wednesday and Thursday nights they have a sushi buffet at R200 per person. Guess where I'll be Thursday! ๐Ÿ˜ they also don't have a liquor license as of yet so you can take your own booze!!
Rachael Gold Crossley
First impressions: clean, bright, tentative staff. Kung Fu Kitchen 2.0 with a relatively simple menu and large portions at great price. All you need for casual Sunday night dining. Impressed that the veggies in my chow mein were still crunchy and green!
Warren Larkan
Simply the best Sushi ๐Ÿฃ place in town. Actually gourmet Sushi is more like it. Friendly staff add to the modern chic of this restaurant... Truly a gem in Douglasdale. Give Throbbing a miss for this place.
Dennis Chiang
Been here a couple of times now, decor is nice and relaxing. Sushi is above average, food is geared to westerners and not very authentic. But it's made really good. Prices are the highlight of this place. Very value for money.
The miso soup on the other hand is by far one of the better ones I've had. Hot and sour soup is not recommended. Too sweet and not hot and sour enough.
Overall experience is good, with friendly waiters and staff. Clean restaurant which is always good.

Late review: At the Douglasdale Village Shopping Centre, on the corner of Douglas Drive and Leslie, I found a new gem. Z Two opened up less than 2 weeks ago, with absolutely delicious Chinese cuisine at incredible prices.

I went there for dinner on Friday evening, and was surprised by the "buzz" outside. Luckily most people were there for take-aways, so finding a seat was not difficult. There are quite a few tables inside, as well as, seats around the sushi carousel.

The decoration is simple, yet effective and the green wall makes the atmosphere crisp and happy.

Currently, they do not have a liquor license so we took our own bottle of red and no corkage was charged. (YAY) But they should have one within a month, I was told. However, the alcohol prices are very reasonable and nothing over priced.

Not knowing what to order as the menu has a large variety at low prices, relative to other restaurants in the area, we started off with some chicken spring rolls and sushi. Not a complaint in the world- fresh, full of flavour and divine. Some of the best sushi I have had in a while.

After a little binge, Dim Sum and Chinese cuisine was on order.

They have various different flavoured Dim Sum, but the chicken, coriander and cashew nut caught my eye. This is a choice I do not regret. The chicken was slightly dry, but the overall taste was just perfect.

I also ordered the Sizzling beef, which blew my mind with flavours! I have not tasted something with such flavour in the last few months. I loved the cow - shaped serving plate! The fried rice that came with was also divine, wow.

Overall it was a wonderful foodie experience! I cannot wait to go back and highly recommend giving it a try!

UPDATE:

I phoned to book a TABLE for 2 for the Monday sushi special night because I knew it would be busy. We arrive... aren't greeted, we wait a bit. Finally a lady just looks and me and says. Yes? To which I say I have a booking under my name. She proceeds to show me to the conveyer belt seating - there is only one chair. I look around for assistance (there are 3 waiters around me) and no one offers to help. We walked out! I've been a loyal regular customer and get welcomed like that! Not cool!

OLD REVIEW

Okay, I've been back, tried the sushi, tried more hot meals...

The service has definitely improved this the first time I went there. I had take away sushi the one time and it really wasn't very good... but I've had sit down sushi and it was really delicious. So basically, I'd say sit in for sushi and opt for hot meals for take aways... they have some really nice options... If however, you are ordering take-away, this is where they can be a bit slow, so call at least 25-30 minutes ahead if you don't like waiting around.ย

PREVIOUS REVIEW:

So I've been here twice for take-aways for dinner and here's my feedback. I was completely disappointed by the dim-sum... they are advertised as a dim-sum and sushi restaurant and the chicken dim-sum I ordered was completed tasteless - zero flavour. So I won't go back fort hat. However, on the other hand, their pork and assorted fried rice and their crispy beef (which I had with noodles) is actually very nice and I'll go back for that alone. I haven't tried their sushi yet, and am a little apprehensive to do so. But maybe one day when it's on the 50% off special then I won't have that much to lose right?ย

In terms of service, I can definitely understand why a few people have commented negatively on this. The first time I came here I waited at the till desk to be helped for 10 minutes, then i waited a good 25 minutes after being told it would be a 15 minute wait for food. The staff seemed a bit frantic and all over the place - I think this might be because I came here really soon after they opened the restaurant and they may not have been quite ready yet.ย

I'll go back for the hot meals... and I'll give the sushi a try at least and I'll revert back once that's done. :)

Definitely will not be coming back. The service is shocking, and I find it odd seeing as though we are the only table here. When we walked in they were still mopping floors and cleaning the restaurant, at 12 p.m. The waiters have no idea what they are doing, and have gotten nearly every order incorrect.

Dim sum used to be great but the quality has gone down over the last 3 visits. The sushi is super fresh! Take aways are now taking more than 20min on average.

New addition to the Douglasdale Shopping Centre - cute spot with a sushi belt and and seated area too, we came here for takeaways and decided to try their dim sum, sushi and curry. Customer service is very good . Onto the most important stuff: the food. It did not blow me away. The dim sum was a...

Nice new sushi/dim sum spot in the Woolies Centre. Sushi was fresh and tasty but a little pricey . The best deals price wise are their sushi combo platters; they also have quite a few specials on during the week which may be worth checking out.
