Fantastic Classic Cheese burger. #3 on my sandton burger index. Fantastic Greek salad for the table. Surprisingly good with a bottle of white wine in the heat & shade.
Last few times I’ve been the staff have been so good. They are attentive and very friendly. Such a pleasure coming here. Foods also great.
Ever had breakfast at River Cafe. The Breakfast Jar is a must taste. Not only do you get to eat out of a jar but the mixed seasonal fruit, muesli, yoghurt served with pumpkin seeds and decorated with a fresh strawberry is great for that early morning start to the day. A downside is that the staff do require more training.
What a nice child friendly place where the food is tasty and portions are generous. A large garden with jungle gyms, a jumping castle, little scooter bikes and the fun of children feeding pigeons. We will definitely be back.
Dear River Cafe Team,
Thank you for hosting a whole class of little 4yr olds and their parents at your beautiful venue on Saturday, in the rain. Nothing we asked for was too big or too much of a hassle for you guys to handle.
The food was amazing and the service was even better.
Lorraine and her team went out of their way to cater for every single person at our year end function. We really appreciate it and will without a doubt be back.
The little ones had a great time, even though they were stuck inside the restaurant because of the rain, and the adults had a lovely time catching up.

We love the River Cafe for a long lazy lunch with kids and dogs in tow. Plenty to keep the kids occupied, they can run and play you can get down to the business of relaxing in the shade of a big tree while enjoying very decent food. Service is a bit erratic die to tables being spread out across the large lawns and kids running all over the show, but if you aren't particularly fussy, it is always friendly and you as efficient as can be! I just love their pesto pasts with fresh asparagus. My hubby loves their burgers, and their is a wide variety for kids. Can also recommend the wraps and nachos. Huge portions and good value for money.

Lovely spot for a Sunday breakfast. The portions are very generous and the setting is beautiful. The patrons seem to be mainly those with dogs or small children, so if you are not partial to either this is probably not the place for you. They were setting up for a children's party just before we left, in the nick of time ;)
After visiting the Field and Study market, we decided to go and have a proper lunch at the River Cafe (just above the market). They have a massive sand pit for the kids, a play area and a jumping castle. The restaurant was full and had lots of kids having a blast as well as a birthday party. There is a big tree which the kids also loved.
The place is slightly pricy, but other than that I cannot complain.
The pizza was delicious and so was their chicken salad! I would definitely go back as it was a fun day with great food.
Always have a great experience here, the staff are friendly and the food is good, but what makes this cafe even better is that it's in a beautiful park that not a lot of people know about. You'll see dog training classes here, people cycling, jogging and running. Then if that isn't enough there are stables and an equestrian yard, on the weekends you can take a guided house tour in the park for R20. Then on certain weekends go down to the market, most stalls have snapscan payment options making it even easier.
I recently was down here and enjoyed a portion of nachos with bacon, can not tell you how delicious it was!
A well-kept secret for people with kids and/or dogs or just want to enjoy the outdoors... This cafe's burgers (go for the WAM Burger) are always a good bet! The service is slow but as long as you come here to relax with your kids/dogs and enjoy the afternoon... This won't bother you too much! Well priced as well!
