The place is a secret gem. The restaurant is classy, the waiters are professional. The staff know the food really well.

The portions are great, big enough. Had the Ribs and it was a bargain. The sauce on the ribs is tangy, the ribs actually fall off the bone without effort.

Great building and always a great vibe and ambiance with great service. Specials that change daily and a well thought out wine list. If you like mussels give these a smack.

You simply cannot go wrong at Ray’s Kitchen. The food is delicious, the portions generous and the staff friendly and efficient. We go there often on a Friday evening because the atmosphere is vibey and friendly and Paul is always coming round to check that you are enjoying the food. It’s like fine-dining, but without the need to get all dressed up and stuffy.

Nestled in Dunkirk estate - this was an absolute “hidden gem” to find.
The food was impeccable. I was blown away by every bite.
We had an issue with one of the meals and the owner(I think) handled it with no issues as he gladly replaced the meal.
Lovely feel of being tucked away in a forest.

A definite must for Durban/Ballito visitors.

Rays Kitchen is inside Dunkirk Estate in Salt Rock. Stunning restaurant and literally the best coffee I've had in years - from a roastery called The Science of Coffee, seriously incredible.

We came for breakfast three times in two weeks and it was just brilliant every time. The food is so reasonably priced and so generous. When you order avo, you don't just get avo. You get avo that is lovingly marinated in a basil oil. The poached eggs were perfection. You could add on extra salmon and hollandaise for literally R25. Their health bread was divine, they do bresaola which I'd never tried but man was it good. Their pork sausages are so lean and tasty. Even the tomato "garnish" is special with herbs and cheese on.

One of the best meals I have had in Balito/ Salt rock area. The Creme brûlée was absolutely delicious, and the pasta I had was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back.

What a find. It seems like i was late to discover this hidden gem inside Dunkirk estate.

The service is efficient, friendly and effortless. The waiters, runners and managers are attentive without ever being intrusive.

The food is inspired and ranges from pizzas for casual fare to a full menu for dinner. The fishcakes were fresh and magnificent. My favourite main is the peri-peri deboned chicken.

It is quintessentially Durban with its casual inside/outside setup and outdoor, woodfired pizza oven.
