Well was I blown away by this little hidden gem!!! Every single dish from the Pork Belly starter to the Crayfish Pasta was exquisitely prepared, presented and a gastronomic experience on the palette! Well worth a visit!
The view of the harbour is amazing, the food is crazy good and the staff are amazingly friendly. The most delicious food I have had in recent memory. And the consistency across the dishes is incredible! Truly a hidden gem
We had our Christmas lunch this year at Mauro’s - the food was without exception very good - started with an olive bread, followed by various starters of carpaccio of beef, avocado ritz and seafood ceviche followed by beef steak and platters of turkey and gammon - deserts were apple strudel and walnut pie - good service and great food!
Passing through town and our guesthouse recommended Mauro's. What a fabulous experience. Lovely setting overlooking the harbour and every single thing we tasted was just delicious and clearly prepared with care. Have not had a meal like that in ages! The service was also spot on.
Dave and I drove back from East London, deciding to stop in Cape St. Francis on our way back. We had quite a strenuous drive, having run over a monkey on our way to Port Alfred. This resulted in the car needing to be towed, and us having to get a hire car on a Sunday. Not that simple in rural Africa. Friends of ours organized a Bed and Breakfast for us to stay in and the owner made a booking at Mauro’s in St. Francis for us.
Delicious pastas! Friendly waitress who had no hassle serving the 16 of us. Only thing I will improve is the wine list.....good portions and no skimping on quality ingredients!
Excellent, Mauro's is by far the best restaurant in town.
I highly recommend the ceviche as a starter and the prawns as main course, his pizzas are also delicious.

This is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of Port St Francis.
We shared an assortment of starters which included Crevettes (De-shelled prawns baked in Cheese & White wine), Fegatini di Pollo (chicken livers) with Ciabatta and Baked Snails in a garlic & cheese sauce. All were fantastic.
For mains I had the Pork Scaloppine made Prima Vera style (Rocket, Tomatoes, Onions & Glaze) which was full of flavor. Others had the Fried Calamari, the grilled Lamb Chops and pizza. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
We had eaten too much and had no space for dessert.
This is definitely a place to visit and have a really good meal if you are in the area.

Very friendly and hospitable staff. Beautiful view of the port and lovely restaurant. Olive bread was delish however I found the rest of the dishes to be average. Calamari was a bit on the tough side.
Was expecting much more seafood on the menu as the sign outside reads Mauros fresh seafood.
We had a lonnnnng catch up with friends we'd last seen under tragic circumstances. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and we laughed and cried and enjoyed being looked after by our beautiful waitron and others. Pizza was superb and I watched someone else eat sole. It looked amazing. Much later we had ice cream which was creamy and delicious. We didn't want to leave and we were left alone and never felt rushed.
Absolutely incredible the food quality is out of this world, slightly pricy but worth the treat.

Great restaurant in St. Francis. We called in for a last minute reservation in the afternoon for the same night and still got a table. We were told that it’s not their best table, but that was totally fine for us. Luckily another party of 5 didn’t show up for their reservation, so we ended up getting a great table right in front of the windows with a view of the harbor.
The food was very good. The service only so-so. Our servant took forever to come take our order. We had to draw her attention to us.
Mauro came over to our table and chatted with us, because my dad is also from Italy. He also gave us some great tipps for the rest of our trip.
The food is absolutely lovely. Great atmosphere, and a huge selection of quality wines. Mauro is a wonderful host.
