The vibe here on a Thursday night is electric and I would urge all jazz/live music lovers to come here at least once in their lives. It can get quite packed though. They also have quiz night season which is always great fun and a good way to meet up with friends. I've only ever had the pizzas here but I've always enjoyed them especially because they are thin-crust.
Aaah our local drinking hole ❤️ delicious pizza and cheap beer, what else could you ask for? At the same time take this place with a pinch of salt and don't take a girl here for your first date. Unless your girl finds a game of coinage and a shared cigarette with the local football team charming. But if you have a could buddies to take out for a good a warm hearted time then this is a good place to be, they have live bands and jazz nights and the occasional quiz night which all adds to the charm of this humble restaurant, humble but indeed great
The Wizoo is not a restaurant per se, our pricing policy and simple objective to serve quality for the price charged combined with a free entertainment line up puts us in a place where we are not a restaurant, bar or club. We aspire to be a friendly venue you will come with your friends as take us as we are on the day. Come in as friends and leave being better friends. If something is not happening for you object until it happens, many of our waiters are students who don't get the full-service aspect of their work yet. Teach them well and they will give much more respect back. Love and Peace, The Great Wizoo.
Very awesome atmosphere here - especially on their jazz nights. What I love about it is the ad-hoc nature of the performances; random people from the audience can just go and play and everyone supports each other. Really good hunting ground for hidden talent. Pizza isn't bad either.
Welcome to the student budget life. And what a place to spend it on. The Great Wizoo has the perfect combination of great cheap food, drinks and banter that can flow late in to the night. If you looking for a place to wind down after a long day with friends, you need not look any further!
To be honest the prices are what make this place so great. You feel like a dirty slave dealer when leaving the place having only payed a couple bucks for some decent pizza and plenty drinks.
I absolutely love this place. A bit of a hidden Rondebosch hangout, it offers the cheapest pub food and drinks In the neighborhood. Set up with a stage for live music, a projector screen for sport lovers and a cosy corner kitted out with "your gran's" furniture (and a shelf full of everyone's favourite board games). Really nothing fancy but Paradise for those hipsters out there. The service is mainly "order and pay up front" and can be slow but I honestly go there mainly for the pizza!
I must say The Great Wizoo has come a long way... The atmosphere is brilliant most days, the food is great and not very expensive at all! The service is average but the staff is ultra friendly!
What better way to spend a thursday night than with swinging jazz and some great pizza. Wizzoo has a knack for the cheap -but-oh-so-good, with a great variety of easy pizzas and chicken. Of course the bar is a great feature too (I like their wine in particular).
Relaxed atmosphere is a winner.
Their burgers are delicious and ridiculously cheap! I had the cranberry and brie burger, which was out of this world! And the chips were delicious too! You can't cook at home for these prices!
Beautiful view with good food at reasonable prices. The venue needs a bit of work.
As a student bar, everything is good even if not much is outstanding.
Judged against comparable bars, I must say that aspects as the view and the service is generally very good and friendly. The drinks and food are very reasonably priced and there's generally a very pleasant atmosphere, if not occasionally very loud, despite it not being that kind of bar.
Service is usually warm and friendly but staff numbers are not high so it can take slightly longer when busy. Decor is not the strong point and facilities are not anything outstanding, such as bathrooms. They're just bathrooms. But for the price point and the expected experience, you get what you expect.
In summary, a fun, value night out with no pretense necessary and a great view.
The Wizoo is a favourite drinking hole for students and eclectic personalities. From their Thursday night Jazz events to their reasonably priced beer, if you are looking for a local pub to grab a drink at this is definitely a place to visit. If you are wanting an up-market venue please go else where!!
Fits the mold of student dive bar with all the trimmings. Big screen TVs, all vital soccer games shown, great jazz evenings, pub quiz nights. A regular and dependable spot.
The Wizoo is a fun place that's visited by a wide range of people, from various cultures and income levels. It's popular with University students and has good prices. Excellent free Jazz on Thursday evenings. It is a proper dive and the loos leave a lot to be desired.
Great place with lovely music and a trendy crowd. it's a perfect place for everyone. They serve scrumptious food at moderate prices and have awesome specials.
Always a chilled vibe... Cheap, groovy, superb views and friendly staff.
Cool for student jams and watching sport.
Try the Worx pizza - Above average
Wizoo is a student bar, with incredibly well priced beer and every month different drinks specials. The food is not bad, but on a busy night it takes fairly long to get to you.
Thursdays are jazz nights. Great atmosphere. Food sold there and there are some board games available too
The epitome of familiarity, I have never had a bad time at the Wizoo. Great prices, food offering and service, and the vibe is easy to settle into. A definite hidden gem in the Southern Suburbs.
