A Big thumbs up to this establishment. From starters, main course and even the dessert. And not to forget the hubbly. Drinks were freshly squeezed. Delicious. Everything was top notch. Waiter Mr Nigel made the evening fantastic. Will def return.

The place is amazing, the food is tasty delicious and fresh, it’s a great place to go with friends or on a date. The service is amazing. Brandon assisted us and was great, the place is clean. If you park close enough and sit by a window seat you can see your car. There is vegetarian food available as well as lots of salad platters to choose from. Great tasty foods to try. I will definitely be returning to this well ran establishment.

A friend of mine suggested we try out this place, as opposed to visiting the usual Galata/istanbul kebab. This place honestly beyond exceeded my expectations, its nothing fancy in terms of decor and interior, but boasts a very relaxed chilled vibe. We ordered a few things one of which was the chicken chops recommended by the owner, which was so flavorful and delicious that I’ll definitely be coming back for me. Their service was insanely fast and staff were very friendly. Food was priced similar to other middle eastern restaurants. They could maybe improve by adding a dessert selection to their menu, but otherwise I was very impressed and recommend you try out this place.

Very Nice Syrian food with good service.

It is a shisha/hookah place and restaurant. They have freshly made fruit juices, kebabs and wraps. It is very close to some restaurants that play loud music at night, but not so close that you cannot have a conversation, just close enough to feel the vibe of the area. They do not serve alcohol here.

Great authentic food. Delicious tea. This place has a lot of potential but the interior, which was taken over from the previous restaurant, needs a serious overhaul. It feels a bit run down and grimey. Looking forward to come back and see how the place develops.

Relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. There is a bar and lounge as well as outdoor seating. Various kebabs available. You can also order various flavoured hookahs. Food is reasonably priced and the service good.

Ordered grilled platter for 2: Grilled meat & chicken weren’t seasoned enough and quite bland; the falafel was tasty but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend going here for food.

Enjoyed a work lunch here, the food was good!

My loving place in Rivonia. When you stress out, feeling lonely or just wants friends party. Then get to this place and leave all your worries behind. Sit relax and enjoy the vibe.

Love the place, the food is well prepared and filling especially considering the price! The hookah is only R120, that's refreshing considering most establishments want to sell hookah starting from R250, only problem is that at night it's not so relaxing because the clubs across play very load music but that shouldn't stop you from coming .

Lovely Vibe with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Hookah and Food are excellent. All hookahs are in Khalil Mamoon's, love the uniformity. You get a feeling like you in a middle eastern country when you enter.

We ordered the mixed grill for 3-4 people and a portion of falafel. The overall decor of the place isn't very modern , but don't let that fool you. The food was absolutely incredible. Every item was perfectly cooked and tasty. The portions were also generous. I enjoyed my visit here and will definitely go here again.

Been coming to shaams since 2017 and never had a bad experience, food is consistantly good and portions are well sized, the staff and manager/ owners are always welcoming and friendly. Its an awesome atmosphere especially on a weekend night, they open till late and hqve a wide variety of food optipns from shawarmas, lamb chòps, kebabs, salads and the best desserts i've ever had.

Shaam is magical. I love everything about being there. Although the menu is quite small, the food is always satisfying and hits the spot. Their tea is a one of a kind that I crave when I've been away for too long and the meat is exceptional. The staff are very nice and always helpful. The one downside is that the hookah is very expensive.

This place doesn’t really feel like a restaurant, food is mediocre and people tend to come when it’s more of an event or a casual bubbly bubbly session

Not a bad place if you looking to just relax and smoke a bit of hubbly, but the food is quite average. Atmosphere is ok and the complimentary tea is good.

looks like a place for people who enjoy a low key space to eat arabian food and smoke hubbly. but was not my cup of tea... restaurant decor is minimal and vibe is quiet, service slow and a tad offish, food was average although the conplimentary tea was a plus... not sure yet if I would go back...

but as I am a lover for lamb schwarma I may give it another go...

Food was really good! And the owner is so friendly! Can't wait to come back
Now months after I gave a good rating I'd like to change this. I went to this restaurant in their early days and a very friendly elderly man served us he was amazing until we noticed that he disappeared with (his son I think taking over things.) Of the 3 times we've been there we've realised that this place is not friendly to people of colour. We observed this long enough to be able to say it on Facebook. We and some friends have been completely ignored only with one waitress who recognises us as regulars serves us.
When we walk in we greet the owners who usually seat at the entrance and they ignore us, they turn to look at our tables and literally sneer, they walk around and greet all customers except the black ones (Africans) and they make it very obvious that they do not want us there. As soon as a white person or one of their own walks in they are completely different.
Honestly opening a restaurant in Africa is not a good idea if you don't like black people because this is our home and there's a lot of us, the least you can do is respect us instead of making us uncomfortable in out own home.
The 2 stars are for the staff and the food.

I really like the authentic Arabic taste. The menu option is good, loved the shawrama. Service is also good. I am definitely the revistor. It should be on UberEATS for home delivery.

After the horrific experience we had at the Turkish Restaurant across the road, we came to this restaurant. We received excellent service and had, in my opinion, the best shawarma in Joburg. I asked for the special pickles and they made sure it was included which the other place completely ignored or forgot about. On top of all of this, one of their heaters did not have gas and the owner/manager immediately got it replaced. Living in Dubai all my life and being Middle Eastern, I can vouch that Shaam restaurant has a decent Shawarama and I will be coming here again to satisfy that craving.

Excellent! Best pipes in town. Anybody who's traveled will appreciate the layout and ambience which this restaurant captures. The Arabic coffee is a must have.

Lovely restaurant! The decor is authentic and colourful, the ambience reminds one of being in a foreign country and the location is ideal for a peaceful dinner. The waiter was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Started off the meal with traditional Arabian tea, which was served in a typical Turkish tulip-shaped glass. We even received a complimentary second cup of tea after our supper!
I would recommend the Shami kebab, although I've heard that the Iranian kebab is even better.
Will be back for another dinner in future!

Before I start, YES THAT IS A FLY INSIDE THE GLASS OF THE FRIDGE. I only saw it after I ordered and thankfully nothing I ordered came from the fridge.

Decided to try this new spot in the area for takeaway and all I can say that the only way it can go is up.

The staff don't understand the menu and cannot explain it. I was told that the price on the menu of the falafel is for a starter portion and I must pay double for the meal. They didn't know whether the "meat" on the menu was beef or mutton.

I ended up getting the falafel which was decent but you get a better meal from Anat and would have been very bland and dry without the baba ganoush side I ordered. I also had the meat shwarma that was apparently lamb which was very bland.
Great experience. Very nice and chilled hubbly lounge.
Very good hubblies, they have there and a very reasonable prices.
And their way of bringing the tip is just cool and different.
——

My revisit was another great experience, friendly waiters.
Went there for hubbly, drinks and watch a soccer game.
They don't sell alcohol but it's still cool.
