My family and I had a great first time experience, and the service was really good. The food was delicious and they have very big portions, worth every cent. Plus the view outside was beautiful, over looking the lake and sunset. They also have a pool. It's also kid friendly because they have a play area for the kids so you can watch them while you're dinning. Overall, it was great and I would definitely go again. But bring your appetites.

Awesome place on the shore of Mzingazi lake, with cute monkeys scurrying around freely. Don't worry, they are well behaved :) The food was awesome, tasty with good sized portions and nice side dishes. Loved the fillet on the bone steak!

Great atmosphere. The meals were surprisingly good too with generous portions. They could not be faulted and compare well with the best restaurants in Durban.

We had our 52 years Ex Student and Teachers School reunion on Saturday. It evening was a resounding success, meeting with old friends and family. Porky's was excellent with the catering and service.

The view of the lake is tranquil and peaceful. The waiters are friendly and helpful, but most significantly the food is delicious. The buffet carvery menu served on a Sunday cost R180 and had a choice of three kinds of meat ie lamb,pork and chicken as well as three veg accompaniments ie pumpkin, cauliflower and spinach. There was a delicious greek salad as a starter and dessert was malva pudding, cheese cake and chocolate brownies with custard. The lamb was succulent and delicious and all veg cooked to perfection. The average price on the a la carte menu is R100 to R120 . The steak and chips was cooked to perfection and well portioned. The Portuguese calamari was enjoyed the most by our group. A visit to Porky's by the lake is well worth the trip down to the country club. It was a Sunday well spent for me. UPDATE: The security at the entry gate has been hyped up of late, which is great for the residents, but unfortunately thoroughly embarrassing to Porky's patrons. A attended a business get-together there and was not permitted through the gate as I didnt have my driver's licence. (I take full responsibility for that as I changed handbags in a hurry to get there in time). I called a member of our very large party who was already at the restaurant to come to the gate and drive me in, but was constantly reminded by security that I couldnt park there while waiting. Where exactly could a woman travelling alone go to wait? Then 10 more members from our party who had travelled almost 150 km to get there, arrived in a taxi, and they were told that taxis were not permitted in. ( Ironically, this was arranged so everyone could enjoy a toast and not have to drive back)The taxi dropped them all off at the gate and left....and there we all were....professionals and executives, with a booked table at the restaurant, standing on the street, wondering what the solution was. There wasn't any!! I called the restaurant, and was told they manager will come and fetch us, when they found him!! We had to devise our own plan to get in. The manager was apologetic, but sadly, said he could do nothing to solve the problem which was a result of the body corporate rules. Pity!! I did so enjoy my regular meals there! So...heads up....be sure you have a valid driver's licence and you're not coming in a taxi if you're planning a visit to Porky's.
