If you are looking for a nice jol, inexpensive drinks and food then this is the place to be.
They have really affordable menu options in terms of food (but with a cheap price tag don’t expect Gordon Ramsay quality, albeit their food is still tasty)
Great food with awesome drink and food specials. Live entertainment
Bonfire made in the evening so the whole bush atmosphere is amazing. Would go again
Slowly turning into our go to place amazing food and great atmosphere. Not to mention the prices are the best. Totally recommend it to anyone.
Food is great, waiters are friendly and the specials are great as well.. only problem is the music, one girl just plugged her music and changed whenever she felt like it..quite annoying..but it’s a nice place overall
Very nice place to sit and have a super cheap burger with chips and a drink with friends, awesome bush like atmosphere. Will definitely see me more often 👌🏻
Relaxed atmosphere, we had a great waiter who was very friendly. The kitchen was not yet open when we arrived after a long hike but they made a plan for us which always makes a great impression. The food was amazing for the price. I had a double cheese burger and chips for R19,99. My friend had the chicken burger and the special sauce was delicious!!
Today, literally on a whim, we stopped at this little hole-in-the-wall for a bite to eat before driving back to Johannesburg and it was like being back in Zimbabwe. Think African bush, a traditional Boma (Lapa), live music (by Wikus Botma), and all in a very relaxed setting (with ridiculously well priced food).
Our table looked out onto the bush where some Vervet monkeys were playing and we were completely surrounded by lush vegetation. I was struck by the fact that this has to be one of the most no-frills venues in Pretoria East but the place was completely full today and the vibe from the live music added some African magic to 'Die Bos'. Some families had opted to take picnic tables further out and had brought their dogs along for the lunch.
The menu: Steak, burgers and ribs. Don't expect salads (or anything fancy) here. I would stick with the T-Bone every time in terms of value-for-money. In fact, due to their daily special, we paid only R59 for a 500g T-bone.
The service: We were served by 'Taffy' (Tafadzwa) who was never short of a smile and although we could see he was very busy with other tables which caused our service to be slower than I would have liked, I didn't feel that his service lacked on this visit.
The drinks: Pretty much a KWV Brandy poster-child. If its whisky or a brandy and coke you're after, this is the spot for you. The wines are from a box so not recommended for the wine snobs. I like that their Coca Colas are served in the glass bottles still (ice cold) and not a plastic buddy or tin.
*Recommendation: For a well-priced steak in the bush (right in the heart of Pretoria East) Die Bos is truly an experience.

My local pub, it feels like you are sitting in the bushveld. A true South African pub. Prices are very cheap and service prompt. Try their T-bone steak, it is always cooked to perfection. Go on a Friday night. Great live music.
Been here for lunch twice. Service was good, food was good and prices were really cheap. Sitting in the bush in a suburb is pretty awesome :)
