Review Wing Wah - Pretoria

Wow, best Sushi for the best price. What a gem. One of the few Sushi restaurants where you'll leave with a full tummy without breaking the bank. Be sure to try their two for one platter specials. Would absolutely recommend.

Delicious sushi! Unfortunately my sushi rice had a bit of a burnt after taste in some of the sushi I ate. We did their buffet and the variety is refreshing. R195 for all you can eat is a bargain for the quality and quantity fresh fish served. Their menu for the buffet is absolutely amazing and will refer any sushi lover to go and give it a try. The parking area is not big and the restaurant does not look fancy on the outside, but inside the busy atmosphere and marvelous food is set to allow for a good time. Looking forward to try their amazing specials on their take away menu!

Interesting sushi and not shy with the salmon. Very tasty!

Great value for money. Service encourages having a chat with friends so if you want fast food call and order to go. Staff are friendly and its nice and clean. Give their tempura a go! Update, their seerd salmon sashimi is probably the best I've tried!

Food is fantastic. Sushi is exceptional. The last two times I went to Wing Wah Faerie Glen the waitresses that work there are rude and the receptionist. If you want to take telephone orders you need to be patient

Reviews overhype this establishment. Yes it's a decent sushi bar and they do have fresh sushi but there's better options out that taste really good. The sushi has no special fact that could keep calling me back for more like other establishment have.

Fantastic sushi. We had the all you can eat. It was a Wednesday so other nights may be busier. The service was great.

Excellent food, as always, waiter was a bit slow , other than that great!!

We love the once a month "all out" Sushi and this establishment will always be one of our favourites. Love your all time specials and for a group of four this becomes real value for money with a wide variety of dishes.

Food was delicious especially the sushi. Did take the food quiet long to come but it was good all in all. Would go again.

What a gem! Best sushi in town, the deep fried sushi is excellent.

My current favourite place to get freshly prepared sushi. The restaurant draws a diverse group of people including those of Asian descent, so I trust that the food is authentic. There’s always a great sushi special on offer.

My favourite set meal is beef hotpot and black pepper chicken.

Specials provide fantastic value for money - better than some much advertised restaurant chains! Rice paper maki was something special. Portions offered on sweet and sour pork are much more than one would normally expect. Friendly staff and interesting decor. Did not like the homemade soy sauce though.

I find it really easy to give a full five stars!! I love this place so much! I have always been a slave to sushi and after finding wing wah it has just gotten worse! I simply cannot stop myself from wanting to order just about everything!! I declare wing wah my favorite!! #wasabibaby #sushilove #lovingeverymoment

Wing Wah is a lovely restaurant with a cosy vibe and very attentive staff. I did not have the sushi buffet myself, but my friends enjoyed it thoroughly. Extremely delicious and fresh sushi, certainly the best I ever had!

We absolutely love Wing Wah. Delicious food and friendly service. The best fresh sushi and their crispy beef is amazing. Our "go to" take away.

This is my go-to takeaway place. I've never been disappointed with their food. Delicious fresh sushi. The hot and sour soup is one of my absolute favourites. Great specials and friendly service. I would highly recommend Wing Wah for a sushi and wine evening or stay in takeaway night!

Quick and friendly service. Outside front doesn't look like much but once you are inside, what a different place. Very clean! Owner at sushi bar keeping an eye on each plate going out, love it! Sushi and veg chow faan was great.

My Boyfriend and I came for the Sushi buffet.
The price is now R159 and not R145 as said in the above pictures.
It was amazing. Some of the best sushi we've ever had. The deep fried sushi was delicious. It is definitely worth the price and the wait (it took quite a while). Although, the actual Chinese food was not the best. The fried noodles where too soft.
The service was very good. The restaurant is situated in a strange area but definitely better than it looks! I would recommend it to all sushi lovers.

It's time I rate them, we often get take-away sushi here and it's always been perfect, we've never been let down - even top restaurants don't get that right, consistency of a high standard sushi, our friends also love this place, you can't go wrong, well priced and their specials are just an added bonus!

Food was amazing! Had the pekking duck and it was impeccable! Service I also could not fault at all! Really a must visit for people looking for great chinese food!

A lovely hidden Asian restaurant with a wide variety of tastes. Their noodle & rice dishes are always fresh and tasty. Crispy spring rolls with a tasty sweet and sour sauce. They also have a wide range of fresh sushi. Most menu options are reasonably priced and their portions are big. The takeaway option is convenient. But food is served fast for both seated and takeaway (15-20 mins).

They also have a sushi buffet with a wide range of options. Judging by the amount we ate, it is certainly worth the cost. They have both sushi bar seating (with a conveyor belt), as well as seating at tables. The overall atmosphere feels a bit cheap, but isn't distasteful.

Overall a delicious neighbourhood restaurant with a variety of dishes and tastes.

I visit Wing Wah regularly. Great food, very reasonably priced and excellent service with friendly staff. Highly recommended. Best unknown secret in Pta East

Very hidden restaurant within Faerie Glen. The dishes are reasonably priced and completely authentic! Their sushi specials make this a go to place everyday!!!

What an amazing sushi place! I have been getting my sushi from them for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed! Their prices are very affordable and portions are very good! They also have amazing specials, almost every day! I will definitely continue to support them and would highly recommend them!

So I'm the only one in my house that eats sushi so it's very difficult to stop for sushi with the family. Today I thought trying out Wing Wah as my son had a soccer tournament in the area. I had to do take away and eat it at a different restaurant lol to the delight of my family. However I must say the sushi and the quick service at Wing Wah makes it a place worth visiting if you are a sushi lover. I ordered the deluxe platter and it more than satisfied the need I had. Will be back.

We went to this restaurant for sushi and it was most enjoyable. If you looking for a relaxed evening and good sushi I would recommend it. The staff are friendly and the service good.
This is so far my most favourite Chinese place in the East. Prices are great, sushi is amazing. My favourite dish is the crispy pork with noodles. And love their sushi specials ons Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. And I always have a prawn spring roll for starters.

It might seem abit dodge at first but trust me they are worth every penny!!!

Best hidden gem, the sushi & stir fry dishes fantastic & great value for money in the East, friendly staff & owner , always worth the visit !

Took our kid out for the day today and decided to have lunch at Wing Wah as recommended to me a while ago. This restaurant is hidden at the back side of the the little complex of Fairdale in Faerie Glen.
There is a sushi bar area as well as nice tables to sit at and although the aircons made me cold and uncomfortable, this is ideal for those who wants to cool off. The service was ok and the food my favourite. The salmon tasted fresh and the rice the perfect texture. I enjoyed everything we ordered and have no complaints except for the price on the standard noodle dishes, almost double unnecessary.
The amount of noodles we received as a side to the wings was worth it though for only r8,but then again wings for r108 is a bit much if you compare to popular chicken places where you can get a full meal for a fee people at that price.

Best sushi in the east of PTA. Interesting sushi such as the deep fried california roll witch is a must. Service is warm and friendly even tho the language barrier can sometimes be a slight problem. If you a sushi lover give these ghuys a go. They really try hard.
Tanja Horn
Simply one of my favourite neighbourhood places. We often go to Wing Wah for sushi and saki. Tonight was sushi buffet and gin. The buffet also includes spring rolls and soups. Fantastic as always. Everyone should go for a meal here at least once.
Germa Beukes
Awesome place, great food. Service could improve a little but great variety of sushi and other dishes! And good prices, good value for money
Steph
Placing my sushi order over the phone was slightly difficult. On Mondays you can get a 2nd plate of the same sushi for only R5 extra (on select items). Order was ready within 15 minutes and it was delicious and so fresh. The deep fried California rolls are my absolute favorite. They remained crispy for a long time. I also love the rice paper salmon maki and prawn tempura maki. They have a couple of new and interesting types of sushi that I will definitely be back to try! I love browsing through all the crazy things at the Chinese grocery store next door.

Authenticity sets the benchmark for a well established noshery (restaurant). Wing Wah definitely brings authentic to the table with a variety of mouth watering dishes. Attention to detail and personal attention from the matriarch. Whether you're looking for Sushi or original Chinese cuisine Wing Wah steps up to the plate.

Sushi was the craving on a Friday night and Wing Wah didn't disappoint. Situated in the back corner of a shopping centre, buzzing with patrons and I could see why. Friendly service from our waiter, and fresh and yummy sushi. There was even space left for some deep fried ice cream.
Ansunette Pelser
Great option for takeaway sushi. The salmon sashimi was lovely and fresh, however I was slightly disappointed in the salmon roses, which didn't have a lot of salmon. The salmon tofu parcels were also delicious, although I got those by accident - I had actually ordered the prawn tofu parcels. Considering the great quality of salmon used, I'd say it was a very lucky accident!

Wing Wah is a well hidden gem in Faerie Glen. Don't let looks deceive you. 😄😄

The food was really nicely prepared and the staff very helpful.

They have a double up special on most evenings. Even when you sit in.

The area is clean and no car guards will pester you.

We visit often and can surely recommend this venue 😄😄

We went to the restaurant for dinner and to my surprise they changed their furniture again. No more round tables in the general outside area but rather black couches. We were seated in one of the closed rooms where the round tables are. The traditional Chinese food is still just as good as before. They have good vegetarian options which is hard to find at a Cantonese restaurant. We always go to the restaurant when we have a big crowd and don't feel like cooking.

Best sushi I have had! Prices are reasonable and they have specials several days in the week. Dont expect a fancy, glamerous place or location but I will definitely go back.

Wing Wah is a neighbourhood Chinese/Sushi restaurant, Sushi Bar and take away in Faerie Glen. Inside feel cool and is dimly lit, pleasing to enter.
Charming waiters greeted me friendly.
My order was prepared in less than no time. Just had time for a refreshing Lipton Ice Tea.
Special fried rice - perhaps just reheated?Sweet & Sour Chicken - tasty.
The Sushi: Rainbow Rolls & Fashion Sandwiched were freshly prepared & good.
Communication with the Chinese lady felt difficult and I received a Spring Roll instead of the hand roll I thought I had ordered.
Right next door is a Chinese Supermarket.

What a pleasant surprised! Was "in the mood" for sushi and Wing Wah did not disappoint. Quiet little sushi joint - with sit-down and take-away options. Sushi was generous portions and extremely fresh and tasty. Definitely worth a visit.

Our first time with the family at Wing Wah...what a pleasant experience! The sushi was great, the rest of the crowd ordered set menus and the food looked delicious. The decor and vibe is real (don't expect anything fancy) and it took us right back to our time in Bangkok. Definitely going again.

Best sushi I have ever had! Definitely worth a try anyone looking for amazing sushi! Been there many times and the sushi is top quality every time!

This place has completely enslaved me! Nowhere else can I enjoy sushi to the extent that I do at wing wah! The fish, the rice and even the ginger and soy are all incredibly stunning! We have become regulars and we will keep going back!

This restaurant is a total childhood memory for me, it has been there for over 20 years, I am sure that ownership has been changed a couple of times. Coming back again After almost a whole decade. It has changed in decor. Its been renovated into more booth seats. And as the sushi trend has become more acceptable in recent years, they now serve sushi as well.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for dim sum. They make more of a traditional kind of dim sum,not your fusion kind. The dim sum menu is comprised into different categories. Ranging from small dish, medium and large, now this is not how big the dish is but more complication or more expensive.
You probably have to specify that u are there for their dim sum menu. You would tick on the list of the things u want and that's how you order.

The dim sum was i would say average. It's fresh, Not bad.

What was ordered.
Turnip cake, prawn gao, beef rice noodle,
Steamed chicken feet, siu Mai, pork rice noodle (cheung fun), and a pork rolled with tofu sheet.

The presentation however wasn't that attractive but the taste definitely says otherwise. Was quite nice.

One of the best sushi places I've ever discovered. They have a wide variety of sushi dishes to choose from including platters. Definitely recommended!
