Review Mugg & Bean - Pretoria

This is the great place to chill and have your meal. Their food is prepared nicely and it's appetising. I liked their outside seating as it brings that feeling of connecting with nature and people. The service is good and fast.

This restaurant and this specific branch is my absolute favourite. Proudly South African! Richard is the best waiter! He offers my wife and I the best, most timeous service whenever we visit. The food is always fresh and delicious! Mugg & Bean regularly offers new and exciting dishes to choose from with generous portion sizes and some tasty drink options as well!

My husband and I went there for brunch and 1 thing about M&B, their bfast menu is the absolute best. You never go wrong. I enjoyed my order. The waiter was attentive.

Was here for breakfast and I was quite impressed with the breakfast options. The sweetcorn fritter stack was tastier than I thought it would be and portions are generous as well. Lots of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. I must say, for such a busy place, the service was excellent!

Nice place to grab a quick bite to eat or have a proper sit down meal. Great food with generous portions. The service too is excellent. Nothing I can fault here, and definitely worth checking out for yourself.

Repeat visit, first following the facelift which was started shortly before Christmas, bad timing on their part but, assume it was not necessarily in their hands. Regardless, not finished with the outdoor area as yet. Indoors, big improvement, aesthetically pleasing, decor depicting coffee cups with coffee grounds, Brownies etc., very enticing. Furnishings are completely new, dark in colours, earthy colours which have coffee tones to them. New crockery as well, cast iron based, also gives the feeling of quality. Smart from a practicality perspective, do not break easily. Consist of black, whit and cream colours, again, easy on the eye. My daughter sums it up as modern and stylish, who am I to argue. Menu, also overhauled and plenty to offer for various diets and our likes. Kids pig out on the bottomless juices and blended cold drinks. A big plus. Service, hey, this is South Africa, some days excellent, others, leave a lot to be desired. Certainly worth a visit. Did I mention, their Americano’s and Espresso’s are about 3/5. Fair to good.

My Girlfriend and I just had breakfast, I ordered the Veg Rosti and My Girlfriend an Big Ben, my Veg Rosti personally was OUT OF THIS WORLD, filling and definitely worth the price!! The big Ben is also really delicious, a little pricey but worth it.

Sinethemba was our server and honestly she is one of the kindest people I have ever met , I really believe she deserves a raise or a promotion , the food was delicious and this mug and bean reminds me of why I love this restaurant chain. Hearty food , kind staff and a relaxing atmosphere .

Mugg&Bean is a great pitstop while shopping at Centurion Mall. It has loads of outside space that is shaded. Overlooking some art installations and nearby shops. The service was good and the food was satisfying. I'm giving it a 4 star review, just because I've had better experiences at other Mugg&Beans. Comparing with its counterparts, it is a typical in-mall franchise with nothing extra to offer. Overall a goof experience with good service staff. And regular Mugg&Bean prices.

Me and my partner loved the place . Service was on point . Environmental it was refreshing. Fresh and delicious food . Definitely doing breakfast there next time.

Wonderful service, had the "Classic" breakfast with an extra hash brown and the bottomless coffee. The breakfast on the rye bread was delicious! Wish the coffee was a bit stronger.

Best best breakfast bagel done at mugg and Bean Centurion Justice is an amazing chef. 😍😍😍Wow I have had this bagel at different branches and hands down the best is made here at the centurion mall branch. Perfectly toasted just perfect 👌 😃 😃 😃

I don't often recommend Mugg & Bean to anyone, but I can confidently say that the Mugg & Bean at Centurion Mall gets a perfect score from me. The food is phenomenal, the service exceptional and the atmosphere is comfortable an cozy. As for the staff, Teboho was quick, super friendly and his service was absolutely top notch! Keep up the good work, you'll definitely be seeing us again!

Had the thirst for a good coffee. The new shop is awesome and we had such a helpful waitress. The pastries looked great. The shop was really busy but the coffee was served very quickly.

l will say this with confidence, this is one of my favorite places to eat no doubt! It is a little pricey but worth every penny. The staff very friendly, l love it. The food, wow! l love the Monte Cristo salad with extra wings on top. This is the best meal l have ever tasted. And honestly that is what l usually order lol. You should try it. The enviroment very warm, calm. If l were rich!! l would buy it everyday. But for the once in a whiles times l do buy, l am in love! Thank you mugg and bean.

Decided to come have lunch at the good old Mugg and Bean with my family, as I have not had mugg and bean for some time. I was very disappointed, the new menu is not the best, they have cut down so many vegetarian options including my favorite veggie wrap. The portions are definitely smaller for what we paid for. Hopefully Mugg and Bean will add more new vegetarian options in the future.

Amazing service received from Mashego, but upon returning home after our meal I had a bad reaction to your vegan meal(avo on rye bread with rainbow slaw) my wife had the exact same but tasted different I initially thought mine had a buttery taste but my wife said I’m imagining because hers is fine I finished half of mine and my wife ate the rest of my open sandwich .It states vegan on the menu and I’ve been vegan for 7 years so if I were to have dairy my body would reject it like it did when I got home, my wife felt nauseous ,but I’m guessing it’s because she finished mine. When I threw up I could just taste what I think was definitely butter,so do you guys toast your bread in butter ?Please train your kitchen staff and educate them on what can and can’t be used when a diner specifies a dietary requirement. If my 7 year old was with us and had my meal instead you guys would face a law suit as she is has a dairy allergy.

Didn’t stay long but I went here for after work drinks with friends and I really enjoyed myself.

However the inside area is so hot, I don’t know if this had to do with the construction outside but it was way too hot inside there.

The service was fantastic.

An amazing mugg and bean! Manager is super friendly and very attentive ! Will definitely be back! Even though the restaurant was packed, the food arrived in no longer hen 5 minutes and was exceptionally cooked!
Greg Bath
Absolutely fantastic experience! Both waiting staff and the manager are on the ball and are extremely professional. Our food arrived after a little more than 5 mins, which was really amazing!

I can recommend this to anyone!!

A very nice spot. Staff is friendly. If you’re looking to detox, I would recommend their green tea as it really does the most. Overall it is a nice family spot.

Early afternoon coffee and M&B was the destination. I forgot to take a picture of the lovely cake, but it was good too! Service was ok (it was quite busy, so waiters were running around).

Always the best staff! Super friendly and helpful. Not to mention how delicious and well crafted the dishes are. Enjoyed myself thoroughly, would definitely come again.

Came here for breakfast with a friend . The place is located in between stores so there’s quite a lot of activity going on . It’s very lively . The outdoor tables are the best ones and have great lighting for those Instagram pictures 😂. The construction going on at the mall is definitely off putting,it’s extremely noisy and inconvenient.

Our waiter was Richard he was super friendly and the service was excellent. I had the M&G classic breakfast and to drink the bottomless Wildberry Fizz . The bacon was a bit too sweet for my liking . I prefer it being made savory but I didn’t notice it was the honey glazed one .Although it was written on the menu . I wanted cake and was quite disappointed they only had cheesecakes and the other cakes were still being made . They should definitely try and improve on making all the different type of cakes available

Overall a great place especially for breakfast .

The food is a good quality, the outside seating are tends to get a bit crowded and the floor a bit dirty as one cant walk through and clean.

I did not love mug and bean at centurion mall because we got a rude waitress. She did not bring menus at first then came with an attitude to us to take an order. As we were having drinks she came to us and asked us to pay the bill because she needs to go home. I did not find that very polite.

Been planning my New Orleans French toast meal for days now and they send the delivery without the maple flavored syrup. What's the point then. Highly disappointing.
Mark Hulley
Ordered a california omelette with the sauce on the side. Received the meal after more than 30mins with sauce on it. You have to ask for jam and butter for your toast. Maybe Centurions like dry toast for breakfast

Been to this branch a few times. The staff is friendly, management is great and the place runs a well oiled machine. Great location for a light meal an good coffee when mall crawling. The quesadillas are an all time favourite.

Food has always been fresh and good, besides my sweet potato chips which are never fried equally... there are always some undercooked fries in the batch. Service is quite slow and you need to be patient, I don't recommend mugg and bean as a lunch stop if you are trying to get a lot of shopping done.

We ordered a Mexican Fiesta Platter and a vegetarian sandwich for lunch. The experience was not one of the greatest - order was wrongly taken due to which we got our food after 1 hour. The bill contained items we did not order. They did try to make up by offering free coffee but still. The food was so yum as usual and we enjoyed our chocolate mocca's. I still tipped albeit the terrible customer service just to keep their confidence level high and spoke nicely to our waitress. If I'm around centurion again, I'll try them again.

Good meal at this branch today with the family.
Service was polite. I love that they are constantly evolving their menu's.
We tried the ginger wings and the jar salad.
Both very tasty.
The salad jar didn't make sense to me besides presentation, you have to flip it over into the bowl anyways

Their spray aircon can be a bit harsh if you sit in the awkward line of its spray, but refreshing if you are away from it.

I love mugg and bean, this branch good, the food is good especially the lunches and drinks.

It does require a revamp on the inside as it can get rather crowded inside. The outside space is great in warm weather.

We go to this branch quite often because its in the mall and we always get good service and good food.

This, in my opinion, is the beat place to chill and have a quick bite in the mall. I just wish they had a larger area to sit outside.

This morning I have to unfortunately climb on my soap box and mention a few things about M&B at Centurion mall. We arrived at 7:10 (shop opens at 6:30) and ordered breakfast. All I wanted was a freshly baked croissant and bacon on the side, hubby ordered his usual. Croissant and bacon arrived at the table and when the waitress put the plate down in front of me I could see this croissant is not fresh. It was hot as hell and I am sure it was nuked in a microwave for about 2 minutes. The two pointy bit was rock hard and the middle section rubbery. Now my question is, why is it ok to mention on the menu "freshly baked" and then serve a nuked croissant???? And expect me to pay R36.90 for it!!!! I asked the waitress and she confirmed that it was left over from yesterday. What made the situation even worse for me is the fact that at the window we where sitting at another waitress was standing outside picking her teeth and scratching her head??? Went to serve another of the 3 customers that was in the shop. The manager who was informed of the problem with the croissant clearly had more important business on his cell phone to attend to than me not being happy about my day old nuked croissant. With only 3 tables in the shop surely you can make an appearance and have a chat. Maybe being a manager at the M&B Centurion Mall puts you above talking to customers especially the unhappy ones. As a individual who has paid my dues in the hospitality industry for over 20 years I know what it takes to bake croissants to serve them fresh but maybe management and staff at this M&B are too clever to understand the importance of good quality food and service

Reliable, great menu. Mugg & Bean never disappoints. Great food big portions fresh food nice combinations. Not a romantic place but a nice get together and meeting spot. Love that the menu keeps changing and incorporates banting alternatives.

The normal run of the mill mugg & bean. The place was not that busy but our waiter forgot about us and only remembered when we wanted to leave! A must try though is the berry apple ice freeze!

To me, the home of great tasting bottomless coffee. Place to sit inside and outside on a deck under umbrellas. It is a whole different vibe outside while inside is more cosy and warm.
They have quite a variety of drinks all of which are really nice.
They also have a good food selection however I think that their prices are a little steep for what you get.
The waiters' service can definitely do better. The managers do their rounds but the waiters seem slow to get to their customers having to single them more than twice to get their attention and still having to wait quite some time.
Came here after our first choice was packed, the food is very tasty however the service was very slow our waiter seemed to be on vacation most of the time and we had to call on him. What really annoyed me the most was the bees nothing is as irritating as try to eat while fighting the bees off. Over all its a nice place for a Sunday lunch.
Tshepiso Ferdinand
The food here is amazing but the service really is bad, slow and its like they don't realise that they are actually at work as supposed to being at a social, honestly its totally unacceptable the type of service offered at this place especially given the brand that they are! We had to ask for the menu 5 minutes after being seated, I mean really! To add there are bees that are totally annoying and make it hard to eat!

Mugg and Bean has a great menu, but I am consistently disappointed by the service. This branch is busy and it seems to take a toll on the waitrons.

While I did not appreciate the attitude of some of the waiters my meal during the visit did not disappoint. The Pulled Pork Torta was flavorful and not too spicy. I hope my next visit is better.

Had an egg Benedict and the source as plain mayonnaise having a bad day. The eggs were cooked differently, one super dead (well done) and the other lost between medium and under done. The service was quick but it took forever to get the bill. So great if you want to experience extremes in all this but not if you just want to fed and go home.
Emanuel
The new menu takes time to get use too, however, the platters are devine.

I like going to Breakfasts at Mugg n Bean. I've been to other branches and I have always received good treatment. The place is always busy, which is a good sign.

Wifey had the Classic Benedict and Bacon and summer fruit loose-leaf tea which smelled divine. I had the
Creamy Mayo Benedict with Mango fruit juice.

I really love hazelnut lattes and breakfast foods but the fact that they took waffles off their menu kind of makes me sad. Also, their gourmet lattes are either so sweet that you'll get diabetes or it tastes like a normal latte.

On the bright side, their food is good and I enjoy the bustle of the place. Not bad for a quick bite.

Very average service.. Took forever to get a cup of coffee, and subsequently the bill.

Also ordered a glass of tap water which obviously never went down well because it never arrived..
Mugg & Bean. What can one say? Bottomless coffee for the win. Free wifi if you are on Always On.
Nothing special.
The food is standard fair and fills the gap.
I gave 3/5 as average is average.

Loved coming here! Both the Classic (less the ham) and the Vegetarian eggs Benedict is my go to meal, any time of the day! Absolutely love it. The service is good. I like the outdoor seating area. Back in the day I loved the Potato skins, but for health reasons I cannot eat it anymore. :( The Nachos are also decent. Keen to try the Quesadilla's soon.

In the younger days I would go to Mugg and Bean at least once a week to have the Choc-Chip American flapjacks because they were just incredible. Haven't had the flapjacks in a long time though.

So as breakfast goes I think mugg and bean is onto something. had the cursant with chicken mayo cheese and bacon. Was totally amazing and the chips are of the best I've had
