Very nice place for a romantic dinner. Food is great and the atmosphere ok. Service was more than average. Just the parking is a problem for me
This place is excellent. Service is very good and the fish and rice I had was top class. Would recommend it to any fish lover. I love this place
Wow!!! When you think Fish & Chips. You think easy quick plain and simple... Boy was i wrong here.. Toni as usual does not disappoint! The food was excellent and the waiting staff ensured that our wine never ran dry 👌🏼... if i could fault one thing it would be the mussels that was a bit small. But hey.. the rest of the food totally made up for that.. we had a fish and salad platter and for desert a LOVELY fruit-custard pie.. Go try it people. Its was LEKKER!!!
The quality exceeds the price, best tasting dishes and the service is top notch. The fish is fresh, pasta has the most amazing flavours and the salads aren't a heap of lettuce. One of Pretoria's gems!
I think this is the best fish and chips joint in Pretoria! I am a big fan of the Tony food chain and I love her twist using unique ingredients. I opted for the fish and chips which was very tasty. The batter for the fish was done perfectly and cooked really well! I will definately be back for more. A pity there isn't a franchise closer to me.
Toni’s Fish And Chips shop is not at all what you would expect! We were really pleasantly surprised, it’s a lovely cosy feeling restaurant. The food was fantastic. I loved the Haloumi, the batter was so crispy and the cheese inside was melt in your mouth. The calamari was tender and juicy, the fish was soft and flaky. Everything was just right! Toni the owner also serves as a chef, you can really tell she takes pride in her food. They do also cater for Gluten free dining. This is definitely a hidden gem, try it you won’t be disappointed. Huge thanks to Zomato for the meetup, wouldn’t have discovered this one without you!
I got invited to a Zomato foodie meet up at Toni's Fish and chip. I was so excited as it was my first Zomato meet up.
I had been to Toni's before, just for a takeaway a couple of years ago, and I can definitely say that I was impressed.
The decor inside is relaxed and contemporary with a nice beach feel to it. The waitress that helped us was excellent and had wonderful skills. We were really made to feel special as wine was offered and Toni herself came out on separate occasions to see how we were and if everything was OK.
The starters were amazing and drool worthy. The hunk of halloumi that we received was sinful. The spring rolls were delicious with all the different flavour combinations. The clam chowder was also a definite winner as I love clams. To top it off, a gorgeous piece of garlic bread.
The mains were served family style with 3 platter boards on the table. The one board ( grilled) had fish, calamari, rice, chips and tartare sauce. Th3 fish was cooked to perfection. There was another board that had the same, except it was fried, that was my favourite. The other board had succulent prawns and crispy fried onion rings. All the flavours were delicious, but some things could have done with less cooking and a bit more seasoning.
The salads that accompanied the boards were amazing. The dressing on top of the salad, was a type of creamy texture, and I have no idea was it was, but I really enjoyed it. The perfect mix of greens, olives and cheese etc.
The dessert is something I missed out on as I am insulin resistant, but I really wish I could have eaten it as the remarks about it confirmed how delicious it was. The home made nougat looked amazing. I think I really missed out. I was offered a cappuccino instead, which was a nice gesture as I love cappuccinos.
Over all I had an amazing night. It was awesome meeting new people and learning all about Zomato and how it started, and we were really made to feel special. It really is nice to be treated once in a while.
Toni made the whole experience that more intimate and interesting by chatting to us afterwards and telling us all about her restaurants and her visions for recipes. Truely a great woman.
Thank you Zomato.
Step into Toni's Fish & Chip and you would expect your ordinary greasy fish with an oversized portion of chips, but this in not your ordinary Fish & Chips. This is something else this is Toni's! Situated in a quite street in the older part of Pretoria you might drive right pass it, but you shouldn't. You will miss out on some of the best seafood that you will find in the capital. Make sure you save some space for dessert as the deep fried bar one is a must have!
When you think of Toni you'd expect a big old greek man. But when you meet Toni SHE is a down to earth, very much young, woman who looks like she belongs in a surfer movie. She is extremely friendly and went out of her way for me with my gluten allergy. The hake is absolutely delicious it does...
