The Winter tasting menu at De Kloof is a very enjoyable experience. The first impression of ambience is great, the lighting isn't too bright and the decor isn't modern or outdated, it's just comfortably itself. The service immediately impressed me.
Another thing that impressed me is how seamlessly the restaurant incomperates ingredients to reflect the season that might not be conventional. The execution of different cooking techniques also impressed me greatly. No dishes felt gimmicky or forced either, which was a great relief compared to some fine-dining establishments.
We started off with a shiitake mushroom soup with the most divine grana padano profiteroles and thyme gel. The wine pairings were fantastic. Afterwards, we moved onto harissa butterfish with more gorgeous wine. Then, wild boar ravioli (my absolute favorite!) followed by delicious filet and kudu cigars. The best was dessert, an ode to butternut. It featured butternut malva and sorbet, balanced with honeycomb and butterscotch. Cognac topped it off and the meal was complete.
The service truly is great, albeit a bit slow. I'll definitely be returning!
Our family visited De Kloof Restaurant a while back. We had an amazing time! We had their 5 course tasting menu with paired beverages. The experience was absolutely amazing! Even though their prices are very high, it really is worth it for a special occasion. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!
This is such a hidden gem. I am so glad we found it when we did.
We chose this venue for dinner, however I think a Sunday lunch might be even more beautiful for the picturesque views.
Food was delicious and made to order, just how I love it. The waitress was very sweet and kind. She knew her wines and was such a pleasure to engage with.
The was a calming ambience. It was a great overall experience, mind the drive if you are travelling from the north.

De Kloof is the more prestigious fine dining experience of the DK group, should you like us not have been to De Kloof but tasted the DK Wagyu beef burgers downstairs then please powder your noses, put on a formal shirt and rock them heels. The ambience is romantic with the views, soft music and lightly lit luminescence making it a perfect date night for any special occasion or just ensuring that your partner feels special from time to time. Spring Restaurant Week time so we absolutely had to make this our first visit to De Kloof in the beautiful Waterkloof Golf Estate. The meals were fantastic and the service excellent. Only one critique the portions are a little bit on the small side but other than that they were delicious.
Oh My Soul, the food was absolutely delicious, everything on my plate was just amazing. Service was great got such a warm reception all smiles, our waitress Lia was so so friendly and efficient even went as far as explaining what was on our plates. Given that it was a Sunday the place was somewhat empty which allowed me to look around and enjoy the elegance of the place and the lovely view overlooking the golf course, I have no complaints. Great lunch
Upon recommendation, we got invited for dinner at De Kloof. Friendly and warm welcome at the entrance and we were shown to our table.
In summer, try to get a table on the balcony - magnificent views!!
We ordered drinks and received an entree for the table consisting of delicious sweet bread and “chilli poppers”.
We opted to just go for main meals and desserts.
Our meals were either the Persian Chicken or Stijl Varken (pork belly). I ordered the pork belly which was very dry and not moist at all. The rest of the meals were “ok”. One thing is for sure, I won’t order the pork bell y again.
For desserts, we ordered the Dark & White desserts. If you like sweet, sticky desserts, then this one is for you.
Altogether good fine dining evening!
One of the true gems in Pretoria. This place offers an escape from the mundane, with food and wine (the food has wine pairing recommendations which are brilliant). Definitely not disappointing, the portions are small, but delicious. Staff could use a bit of a wardrobe make-over, but all in all amazing!
We went there for restaurant week lunch. The service was great, however the food took way too long to arrive. Our mains arrived close to an hour after we finished our starters. Overall the food was great and I would go back again hoping not to wait too long for food.
De kloof is definately a treat!
On arrival you are greeted and seated. While you peruse their menu, you are served home made bread with a little amuse bouche.
Their wine list is broad and something for everyone, including different pockets.
With all the descriptive and unique dishes, if not sure, you can try their 5 or 8 course tasting menu - with or without wine pairings.
If you are not keen for fine dining, then DK Burger downstairs is a more laid back vibe with signature burgers and cocktails... you must try the different and unique Gin concoctions - you won't be disappointed!
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their restaurant and menu. The menu doesn't change as often as we would like but the meals are so great! Art on a plate!
We rate this restaurant as one of our best and it has been acknowledged as top 500 as well as top 20 restaurants in South Africa.
A great venue for a business dinner to treat associates. Located in a golf estate with a nice restful view you are easily put at ease and are able to settle into the motion of an enjoyable evening with a tasteful wine list. Fine dining is delivered with a slightly humorous menu and a few names that required thought to formulate. Fine dining is a special treat and this is no exception. I was in a party of 3 and we all tried something different and al were most impressed. The guest of honor was from Germany and consider to be a bit of a fine dining foodi and he was well impressed with the delicate presentations and the subtle flavours that permeated the signatures on each plate. The layout also meant that we were a respectable distance from neighbors and were able to converse easily. There is an interesting story around the restaurant and its beginnings but you need to come and experience it for yourself. A little pricey and we came away with a bill in the region of R800 per person. The experience was a good one and although this was my 3rd visit, I will return. Don't be shy it is a great experience.
