Love this place, the guy who presents the daily specials in Afrikaans is probably one of thé reasons everyone loves this place.
The food is wholesome and the atmosphere between the staff is good. Everyone takes pride in their role in service.

#1 Steakhouse and #3 Restaurant in Pretoria and I can easily see why.
My only feedback or suggestion is for everyone interacting on the floor to know the specials of the day, especially, if the same person who gave the specials of the day is not the one taking the order.
With that out of mind, #Tasteful place, with amazing people. I can not fault.
Every moment was an experience. From the aquarium, to the isle of wine, to the comfortable chairs and generous hosts.
My starter was #Mushroom & Biltong soup and my partner had Beef Trichado.
The texture of the shaved Biltong was pleasant surprise on my palate and relief from the Creamy Mushroom punch of flavor! My Partner's Per-Peri Beef Trichado was tender and spicy. The peri-peri sauce was a kicker and requested again for the main. YEP! That good!
#PerfectTiming on the mains. I must say, the lamp was respected, and the piece of steak I got from my partner was melt in your mouth heaven. Easily one of the best steaks I've had in my life thus far. Something as unmemorable as mash was memorable. The salad for me, was quite bitter and I think it throws meals off and doesn't serve the purpose it's meant to for the generous portion of food.
I've easily sum up my experience by not having one picture. The FOMO was deep and I wanted to immerse myself fully in my partner's presence and the richness that was Pachas.

Great lunch special for R140 pp. This includes big glass of wine. I had the Sirloin steak -‘perfectly cooked, tender and so tasty - didn’t need to sauce on offer. I. Oils have lunch here every day
What a surprise when I was “kidnapped” for my birthday supper. We stopped at Pachas and had a warm welcome at the door. Our table was ready for seating and drinks orders were placed with Jennifer (our waitress). Both owners were at our table to give us a rundown on the recommendations for the evening. All the recommended dishes sounded mouthwatering! We opted for the following:
Starters
- Brie in phyllo (9/10)
- Springbok carpaccio (9/10)
Mains (Ordered Kanonkop Kadette)
- Pork Belly (8.5/10)
- Lamb shoulder (8.5/10)
Dessert
- Chocolate Fondant (8/10)

The service was good and the continued interaction with management made this a wonderful evening. We will be back!

My wife and I each had a sole (different dishes) with white wine. Both soles were excellently prepared and tasty. We both decided to go back soon, having placed Pachas up there as a favourite restaurant which sets standards for relaxed quality dining! The ambience underpins our impressions.
We went there for a birthday dinner. Food was great, service was good and they even surprised us with an unexpected birthday dessert! Great for special occasions!
It was our anniversary and we had a great meal there. Every small detail was perfect. I would however ask that different music be played. As it sounded like a normal radio station and not in line with the ambiance of the restaurant setting.

We went to Pachas for my husbands 40th birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The two ladies who helped us were extremely helpful and the service was impeccable. We never had to wait for any food and all the food that came out was absolutely delicious. We had our own private room which was perfect for our function. Seriously impressed.

Hearty food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody. One of the few restaurants that goes the extra mile to make you feel special.
We came to Pachas for the first time in its new location to celebrate newlyweds. We had a beautiful private room and overall it was a wonderful experience.
Service: The service was slightly over attentive, other than that it was excellent, friendly, timely and the waiter was well informed.
Ambience: The feel of the restaurant as a whole is elegant yet comfortable. Our room boasted a sense of exclusivity and the table was beautifully set. The air conditioning was adjusted to our preference so it was very comfortable.
Food: Not a single item our table of 8 received could be faulted. It was truly sensational and flavoursome.

Have been here many times, often for special occasions. The menu has not changed much in many years, but everything is delicious. Their new premises however lack some of the old world intimacy and atmosphere I used to associate with Pachas.
This must be really one of my top restaurants to go to. The food has always been amazing, the service outstanding and the ambiance just wonderful. The owners / managers take your food order, waitresses your drink order. The owner Jan is always in the kitchen to ensure that the food you receive is up to expectation. I have never had a bad meal here. As for the menu pricing, it is definitely worth every cent. The portions sizes will really make you satisfied. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great evening and want to leave there happy!!!
We had the most amazing meal.
We started off with a portion of 4 Oysters each and then had the Kabeljou for main. What a delicious well prepared meal. The service was outstanding and all in all we had a great evening out.
We were fortunate enough to attend a friend's engagement on a Friday evening. The staff was absolutely fantastic and went out of their way to make the evening special for the couple! The private rooms are beautifully furbished and comfortable. The food was exquiste without overly complicating the dishes. Good food never goes out of style. A wonderful restaurant to celebrate special occasions!

The service was very good. The food was excellent and good value for money. We both ordered Springbok Carpaccio for starters. Our mains were Fillet Haloumi and Between the Sheets. For desert we had baked cheesecake. They will definitely see us again!

Food: The food is of an extremely high quality for a very decent price. Most of the time you dont have to open the menu as the daily specials include something for everyone.
Favorite is the steak with mustard and brandy sauce with probably the best creamed spinach in town
Service: spot on. From Managers,waitresses and support staff, all very efficient with the Owners always present.
Decor and ambiance: Upmarket,and tastefull with relaxed atmosphere.
Our go to for most celebrations becuase you know the evening will be special.

Par excellence! An explosion of taste and professional courtesy. We ordered the succulent pork belly, fillet haloumi, sirloin on the bone and fish of the day, equally well prepared , esthetically and taste wise a 10 out of 10! A combination of flawless service & proper structure makes this century old new vibe an absolute must! Exellent! Fast and very friendly personal service. Can recommend the biltong soup as a starter. The atmosphere is stately but cosy and the restuarant has many private corners and rooms for separate functions.
Exceptional food as always does not matter what you order. Great service just makes it an overall good experience and I will always recommend to everyone
Beautiful restaurant, great ambiance and top notch service. Food isn't anything spectacular and nor is the price. Maybe we just chose the wrong meals... but... if you're looking for something different then give Pachas a try.

None of us had ever been to Pacha's before last night, and what a travesty that is! What a wonderful restaurant!
Beautiful private rooms, I actually forgot we were even in a restaurant, we could open gifts, tell stories etc and it felt like we were sitting in someones lounge rather than a busy restaurant.
The staff were excellent and attentive, refilling our glasses before we'd realised they were running low.
They really went out of their way to make my husband's 30th birthday extra special, adding candles in his dessert and special birthday wishes from the servers.
about the Food: he had the fillet Atlantis, on recommendation and it was divine. I had the kingklip on the bone, special of the day, which was really very tasty! The ribs were the star of the show, best i've ever tasted, I can see why they are highly rated.

What a nice place to enjoy a cold freeser with excellent service feom the floor staff to rhe owner. What,,,,,,,,the owner taking the orders not the ladies. Special by far. Food prepared to perfection. Drinks very expensive but the food is making up.
We had dinner with friends here on Tuesday 13 December. Made a booking quite last minute, and they were nice enough to help us with a table outside. Unbelievably attentive service, of the sort you do not get anywhere anymore! We were so impressed. All of us ordered the ribs on recommendation, and it was some of the best I've ever had. Really happy with this restaurant, will be going there a lot in the future!

Decor like the old upmarket restaurants used to be , very pleasant , service was excellent and the manager was on top of things , I ordered the fillet medium with rice, came perfectly cooked and was very flavourful.

The hidden Gem of pretoria has finally been found. This is what I always expected a restaurant should be. You get treated like Kings and Queens. The food is fresh every single day. It's truly the best service I have ever had from a restaurant in SA. Make sure you make a booking cause this place is always full.

Wide variety of wines to choose from, and an array of food as well. The fillet was one of the tastiest I have had in a while, with a don Pedro to end of the evening.
Absolutely the best food and great service with a smile. The most tender calamari I have ever had and a great selection of quality venison.
Pachas is a very special restaurant for me and my husband. We enjoy eating there on special occasions. We went back a few weeks ago and we were not dissapointed.
My favourite starter is the biltong and mushroom soup, by far the best I have ever had. Although this time I tried the bree cheese starter. This was also tasty, but if it's your first time there, rather go for the biltong and mushroom soup. For mains I would recommend having the fillet atlantis, though a bit pricey it is worth every cent. With every meal you will get delicious creamed spinach and butternut at no extra cost.
If you feel like having an old school traditional wine and dine experience then pachas is the place. You would not be disappointed.
We went for a Sunday lunch and I must say I am impressed. The service was outstanding and so was the food. The manager checked up on our needs just enough so that we never ran out of food or drinks but but so much that it was annoying - really well done. We order the leg of lamb, the special of the day and it was great, and Tasted like lamb used to taste on a farm. The plate was huge; none of us could finish it but we tried. The leg of lamb was tasty and covered in a very yummy sauce with roasted potatoes in the side. We also ordered the Kingklip and the Duck, again both of these dishes really outstanding. The restaurant was filled to capacity and seems to be the kind of place where people become like family based on regular visits. Definitely worth while.
Pachas has been one of my all time favourites for years. Going back today made me realize how amazing they still are. A recipe thats only getting better with age. The food is excellent quality. Lunch at Pachas. Obviouslly a restaurant with a reputation...a good one. So this was my 4th visit, and I will be honest: I like the atmosphere and how the menu is presented (lots of personel, interactive stuff from one of the owners -I presume- and a goodish waittress) and the wine we chose ("Springfield Sauvignon Blanc 2015" and a "The Work of Time 2009" -excellent )was hyped up a bit (it was good, but expensive due to the normal ludicrous markup). So, about the food (we had the "Rump with Mustard-Brandy sauce): obviously it is good (not as good as the price would suggest), still; well prepared and full of flavour, but you can get a better a rump steak for a better price at at Caraffa and Hinterland...
A good old favourite in my book. Although the feel is a tad outdated and a bit old school formal, the service remains on point and the dishes are still great. There are more modern places to go to but for a private dinner in what feels like an old bridge/whiskey club, this is a good choice. Slightly over priced for the old menu but nevertheless, not a bad idea.
Pachas is one of Pretoria's timeless classics. The service, food and portion sizes is always good. You always know what to expect at this restaurant. The owner is also very hands on and hospitable. I really enjoyed the seafood options on my last 2 visits there. The garlic creamed mussels, grilled calamari and King prawns were delicious and memorable. Looking forward to my next dining experience there.
Lovely dining experience! The owner and waiting staff know their food and attend to you as if you were the most important people in the place. The food is delicious, and they throw in an amuse bouche and 'liquid desert' that make the whole meal extra special. Thank you Pachas!
Have been supporting this restaurant for the last 10 years. They have excellent staff and waiters, great ambiance, but the food is lacking a bit. They need to get their food on the same levels as their service.

One of our favourite romantuc dining spots. The service is inpecable, as is the food. We recently celebrated our anniversary at Pachas. For starters we had the lobster bisque and the steak tartare, both very taste. The owner was right to call it the best steak tartare in Pta! The Between the Sheets steak was cooked to perfection, as was the lamb curry. Dessert - the best chocolate browny ever!

The food was okay I guess, the starter (Avocado and Shrimp served with grits) was kind of disappointing and sad. The main course (Duck) was delicious but not the best I've had. The cheese cake was nice, I've also had better...
The outside décor, tablecloths and cutlery really needs to be replaced. Gives off a cheapish vibe.
All and all I enjoyed the night and I will probably return in the future.
This definately is one of the top restaurants in Pretoria. Friendly and well trained waiters see to your needs. All meals are carefully prepared and served in an eye pleasing way. Excellent ambiance, fantastic winelist and scrumptious deserts ends of a perfect dining experience.
The menu isn't daring or different. Having said that, they raise the ordinary to the extraordinary. The place invokes an intimate ambience. Perfect for a dinner date.

Great good, great service! However the decor and menu is in serious need of an update. If you haven't been here before, its worth a visit, however, for someone like myself who has been visiting this place for years, I would like to see a bit of a change to the menu, even the Chef's Specials haven't changed in a LONG while.

Visited Pachas with my husband last Friday as I was just too tired to fix dinner and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was exceptionally good - I had the sirloin steak with mustard and brandy sauce and my hubby had the linefish with lemon butter sauce and fried mushroom. Our waitress was ever so lovely and pleasant. And the ambience was very nice. I would recommend this place for dining - very nice
I have been going to Pachas since I can remember -long before they were at their current location. Their ribs were delicious when I was a little girl, although now I opt for something a little more sophisticated ;) always AMAZING food -really top class!

What a winner this place is! Daily specials, sometimes fresh oysters flown up. From fillet to ribs their meat is done to perfection ???? the private booths enhances the ambience when the mood arises.
Pachas is a wonderful place to entertain official guests or business contacts. One is able to relax - the service is polished and friendly as well as in two of our official languages (English and Afrikaans) The surroundings is elegant and comfortable.
We had a farewell dinner for our au pair on Tuesday 9 Des 2014. One of the owners took us to our table and immediately upon sitting down, our drinks orders were taken. The drinks arrived timeously.
My starter, Carpaccio of Marlin, dressed with Wasabi mayo and deepfried capers, was exceptional. The fish, lightly smoked, had a creamy, pale pink colour and that slight sweet taste reminding me of shellfish.
It was a joyous dish, a delight to eat.
Their rump steak was meltingly tender, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. Pan fried potatoes - crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Traditional vegetables was served - creamy spinach and pumpkin. Remember to order your sauce on the side if you don't like a lot of sauce.
My eyes being bigger than my stomach, I ordered fresh mango with cream and yoghurt, but couldn't do it justice. The mango should gave been riper and sweeter to pull such a desert off.
That said, it had been, in my opinion, a succesful supper!
Whenever we feel like treating ourselves, Pachas is our choice. Exceptional food. The biltong and mushroom soup starter is excellent and their steaks are fantastic - highly reccomended with the Dijon mustard sauce. Still my favourite restaurant in Pretoria.
Fine dining Restaurant. We were a very large group and they handled it very well. All the food served looked amd tasted amazing. Quite expensive.

I had an exceptional dining experience at this Italian South African fusion restaurant! The main courses were a delightful blend of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with excitement. The salads and veggies were fresh and perfectly complemented the main dishes.
The drinks menu was impressive, offering a variety of refreshing options to pair with our meal. The waitstaff provided top-notch service, and the involved manager passionately introduced us to the daily specials, showcasing his deep love for the restaurant.

An incredible evening spent indulging in fine dining. The quality of the cuisine served here was simply on a different culinary level. The carpaccio is an absolute must-order item! The ambiance is one of refined sophistication and devoted attention. We celebrated our anniversary in this location, and it turned out to be the best choice.
We Even got a special surprise from the restaurant in the form of free Italian kisses for our anniversary.
Banting Friendly
We were first introduced to Pachas by a friend 10 years ago, we have continued to celebrate most our special occasions from that time to date. Last night they blew my socks off when I told them I was Banting, the chef specifically made delicious Banting veggies & salad for me to enjoy with my Eisbein! We always drive all the way from Midstream to get there as their consistency when it comes to taste and service is secondary to none. It’s world class! They pay attention to every detail, thank you 😊

My wife and I went here on an impromptu date night to celebrate some recent good family events. Fortunately we went in the late afternoon and they had a table for us; I would definitely recommend reservations in the future!
The thing that impressed us the most was that the people who came to talk to us about the menu and specials were extremely knowledgeable about the food, and could make recommendations based on what you like. This is not something that we've found often in SA.
Everything we had was very good. If one thing stood out it was the cheesecake. It's a German style, which I had not had before. It's quite possibly the best I have eaten. Very light but not crumbly, the perfect density and texture. It's worth going back just for that!
Pachas hosted my 50th birthday party. The first time I went to Pachas was for my 21st. The food and service were impeccable. I don't know how you always get it right. I received so many compliments from my guests. They will all return. Thank you Pachas.
