Beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere, and huge delicious scones. The service was outstanding and the person who helped us had a great sense of humour. We accidentally discovered this gem on our way to Makwassie, will definitely visit this place again if we are in the vicinity. Thank you!
The fact that people queue for breakfast is always a good sign. Friendly service and a very cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately a few things on my plate were cold by the time the food arrived, but is was still tasty. Food was well priced, but the coffee was quite expensive.
I had an absolutely delightful experience at this restaurant. We found ourselves outside the city and in need of a place to relax, and that's when we remembered Die Akker from my days of hanging around during my first year of studies. While I didn't pay much attention back then, I always remembered the good vibes and good food.
Returning after a few years, I'm thrilled to say that this place is still as special as ever. The cozy atmosphere was perfect for escaping the cold winter air, and they had a fantastic special on a basket of meat and chicken.
The food was impeccably prepared, and we didn't have to wait long to be served. I haven't seen haloumi cut this thick in a long time, and it was absolutely amazing.
I want to extend my gratitude to the staff for their incredible patience as we stayed until closing time, catching up with old friends.
I highly recommend this lovely little place to anyone passing through Potchefstroom. You won't be disappointed!

We always visit Die Akker when going to Potch for hockey etc. Always loved to eat there. Last time the experience was not like usual.
They accidentally put in the wrong order and had to rush our food which resulted in our food not being cooked all the way. It was only one of the dishes and they offered to fix it right away. (Mind you this is the first time it has happened ever)
My friend had a biltong and feta salad that was delicious. My other friend had chicken strips and chips and explained that it was very nice. The food overall is very fresh. There is a big variety to choose from.
They have tasty milkshakes and hot chocolate’s. There is a variety of drink to choose from on the drink menu.
Definitely a place that caters for students as the table’s have plugs for computers and you can but vouchers for using the wifi.
Very calm and cosy atmosphere and would be easy to study there. Also not a very busy of crowded place.
Would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in potch.
The prices are moderately expensive although you do receive a lot of food. Their menu’s are very user friendly as they have tabs on the side with the food categories, which makes it easier for you to choose what you would like to eat.
A great place, delicious food and resonable prices! Staff are always friendly.
Going strong for 30 odd years! Still very friendly staff, wide variety of food, and a buzzing atmosphere of young and old dining and working and buzzing.
(Don't let the unappetising - ugly and dilapidated - exterior fool you. Inside it is very well decorated and maintained. Hopefully the owners will do something about the exterior soon.)

One or 2 minor things that could be improved but the friendly staff, generally good food and quick service. makes them.worth the visit.
I had coffee and a light meal with a colleague of 50 years ago. Lovely environment and a charming waiter. The venue couldn't be better. We sat there talking for three hours in a comfortable, quiet corner of Die Akker talking about the good old days.
