Chef Dylan has always wowed us with his delicious creations. I’ve had a pork belly main dish from him on a previous occasion while tonight his brisket was just spectacular. Melanie was a great host and so so friendly, while the rest of our party enjoyed equally delectable mains and tapas starters. Will be back in the near future and look forward to experiencing more amazing fare!

Restaurant staff were friendly and polite. We only tried the tapas dishes for the evening. The food was tasty. Quiet peaceful evening out. Good thing we were staying at Honeywood so that was ideal if you had indulged in a few alcoholic beverages.

Great place, great food & great staff. Dean & Jason did an awesome job looking after us & had a great time having lunch with family at this little jewel on the KZN South Coast. 👍

A hidden gem, we stumbled upon by pure luck. The food was exquisite we were blown away! Warm atmosphere, great service.  Five star food at such a reasonable price! See you soon.

This was my second visit to The Cellar, and, once again, I was blown away by the flavours that chef Dylan Smith offers in his clever, beautifully presented dishes.

The restaurant is situated next to the pool, but one can choose to sit either inside or on the terrace. We chose the terrace as it was a sweltering summer's day, and proceeded to happily scoff the light and crusty bread, baked daily, complimented by utterly moreish black olive tapenade while we deliberated over what to order.

I chose the beer-battered prawns, served with crisp corn cakes, fresh cucumber, pineapple salsa and soy-ginger mayo. I have not had such a deliciously flavoursome starter in a long time, and relished every bite! My husband and Dad both picked the salt and pepper calamari, which was on the specials menu, and were equally impressed.

For our main courses, Dad and hubby chose the fillet, which was decadently tender, served with buttons of roast butternut, fresh rocket and spicy chermoula cream - all topped with crispy potato ribbons. Yum. Yum. And all kinds of yum. Mum had the duck, which was a sticky, decadent affair with beetroot, butter-poached onions and chocolate and red wine glaze. It was moist and gooey and everything you want a ducky-dish to be.

But the winner was my vegetarian option - usually an afterthought on even the greatest of menus - which was given a rare consideration that made me very smug at my selection. The butternut base seemed to have a spicy, eastern flavour, complimenting the rich mozzarella spring roll, crispy samosa and sticky, ridiculously yummy arrancini ball. I had to ward off a wayward fork from my carnivorous husband, who agreed that the arrancini was especially tasty.

Finally, we had been determined not to order dessert, but could not resist sharing the chocolate platter: a chocolate and chilli bon-bon, choc tart with berry sorbet and vanilla mousse rolled into a light and crispy chocolate taco. It was worth every calorie.

In-between the delicious nosh, the service was polite, friendly and attentive, making for a marvellously memorable evening out - so if you're down on the South Coast looking for somewhere to treat yourself, The Cellar is an absolute no-brainer.

Exquisite meal! So often in a meal the flavours fade as one gets towards the end of a meal - not here. My venison jus was intense to the last morsel. My wife's schnitzel was tender and tasty our friend Elise, had the lamb and what a combo was that. Recognizable but not overwhelming flavours from the cutlet to the Malay sauces. Every little nuance is excellently prepared and presented. I am seriously impressed. Compliments to the chef.

The food here is always Devine, we always enjoy our meals. Atmosphere is cosy and staff are friendly. The waiting period inbetween meals is Abit long however the wait is worthwhile

For starters we had the mussel and chorizo hot pot and the Italian mezze. The hot pot was a tangy mix of thai coconut soup which was Devine. The Italian mezze was deep fried Aubergine and olives, definitely an acquired taste

For mains we both had the beef fillet which was tasty and succulent. It was served with Abit too much French fries which I personally didn't prefer

For dessert we had the chocolate which was a brownie crumble with ice cream, hot chai chocolate and orange peel syrup, absolutely a must try for all chocolate lovers. @

We've been here many times before.. The food is amazing and always up to standard.. The wine is divine and we always come back for it.. We ordered the Italian mezze platter and crispy duck for starters and it was simply delicious.. We had order the chicken breast and beef fillet for our mains and cleaned our plates.. The dessert was the cherry on top.. I will definitely be back.. Overall amazing food and wine and great service!

My wife and I love this place, and we make a point of going at least once every time we're holidaying on the South Coast - there's absolutely nothing that comes close to it in terms of quality and service in the area. 

The menu is small, but there's always something for everyone - and it changes on a regular basis... I've never seen the same menu twice.

My wife tends to go for whatever duck option they're offering, and is always very happy. The last couple of times I've had the prawn curry (delicious!) and the beef fillet (perfectly cooked with great accompaniments).

The waitresses are attentive (but not over the top and constantly "there"), and the chef/owner will always come and ask how we enjoyed ourselves.

Give it a try. Do it.

The Cellar is a little gem hidden away at a boutique hotel. I love the quaint and rustic little spot. There's not many places like this on the South Coast.

Let's get to the food, there was hits and misses. My boyfriend had the duck which looked amazing and he loved everything about his main. I had the chilli prawns with egg fried rice, which sounded great but failed to deliver especially with flavour.

Dessert however, was absolutely amazing and possibly the best dessert I've tasted and it looked like something they would make on Masterchef. It was a baked cheesecake and with each bite you would experience a different taste and texture.

The service was great and the two waiters that were helping us were friendly and attentive.

I'll definitely be back and the main reason would be to try more of their desserts!

Stayed at Honeywood Lodge and had dinner at this awesome restaurant. I loved the descriptive menu. The service was top notch. Friendly caring staff. I would highly recommend you stay at the lodge and have your meals at this establishment.

. Fine dinning on another level. Food and service from the start to the end was beyond words. Great touch from the chef at the end to come out and chat to each table to enquire about the food. Fine dining as it should be. Wish I had a place like this to eat in Durban. 20 out of 10 my rating for food and service.

We were treated by friends who brought us out. It is a level above most other restaurants in the area and so one cannot compare price. The quality and taste of the food is far superior to most restaurants in the area. If you coming for lunch I would recommend the set menu which includes starter, main and desert and would be the best value for money.

Amazing food! This place is a real gem. Fine dining tucked away on the southern coast. It’s a must! We had the 5 course tasting menu. Wow wow wow. We stayed the night and the accommodations were excellent. We can highly recommend a walk in the garden and a massage at the spa! We will definitely be back.

I have no words to describe the talent of the chefs. The food is out of this world. First time trying impala meat and I loved it. I had the best dessert ever. The staff is very friendly. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Blown away! We were looking for a fine dining experience for a friend's birthday and The Cellar did not disappoint. Cozy, lovely ambience and friendly staff. From making the reservation, the welcome, and through all the courses the staff was attentive. The food was simply amazing. The different courses were beautifully presented, pleasing to the eye, and tasted as divine. A culinary experience of note.
