Review Roost - Plettenberg Bay

We enjoy going here when in Plett for breakfast. Enjoy it, presentable and tastes great. Fresh bread and good coffee. Always enjoyable.

My wife and I had a great lunch at Roost. Easily the quickest amount of time between ordering our food and having it on our table. My chicken and bacon toastie had a great combination of flavors, to also include cheese and pesto. My wife’s hungry hippie bowl was also tasty, and had a variety of flavors and textures. My gin and tonic was also nice. We both recommend this place for lunch if you are at Old Nick.

I LOVE ROOST! I don’t know why, but I love it! I’ve had disappointing service, slow waiters and one or two not so delicious items, but despite all of that, I love them! All their breads are freshly baked and made with sour dough! Sourdough rolls! Sourdough ciabatta! Sourdough everything! (Sourdough is my guilty pleasure). The eggs Benedict could be better, but alongside the adorable spreads and condiments tray, I’m willing to overlook the imperfections. All in all it’s in the perfect location, has a really bright atmosphere and a warm and homey feel💖

Excellent place to stop for lunch that will keep the entire family happy! Lots of choice on the menu even if you are vegetarian or vegan, and the food was really tasty and very fresh. I highly recommend the choc nut milk smoothie - and I switched the cows yoghurt for almond milk and it was delicious. My son loved the play area and I also loved browsing the shops and the mid-week market that are all bursting with homemade local goods.

My food was pretty good, service was excellent. My wife's food was amazing. She had the French toast berry dish. It was outstanding. Will definitely come back!

The owners and staff are super friendly and I have yet to try something that isn't delicious. Their Saturday morning market stall will drive you crazy if you visit them on an empty stomach😅

We were questioning what we’d find when we chose a 3-1/2 star rated location for breakfast but our choices were limited on a Sunday morning. We were one of the first in the restaurant so e we had our choice of seating, but by the time we left - just before 11h00, the place was packed to the rafters. And for good reason! Why the 3-1/2 star ratings. Our entire party of four had a 5 star experience. The wait staff was attentive. Our waiter took our orders from memory and delivered all, exactly as ordered - and we had quite a bit of uniqueness to our plates. When the food came, we took pictures of our plates because the presentation and craftsmanship was so remarkable. We called the chef to our table to give our compliments. He was well pleased, grinning ear to ear. And the food tasted as good as it looked! We hope your experience was as good as ours. But we will certainly return next time we visit Plettenberg Bay. Thank you, Roost, for the memorable and delicious start to our day!

I don't know what the problem was of the previous visitors, but we loved it. We almost didn't go here because of the last reviews, so felt compelled to write one. Bread: awesome (even to European standards) Service: great Rest of food: delishious and healthy Would definitely come back here

Best toasted sandwich I have ever had. Inspired breakfasts for both my husband and I, elevating usual breakfast plates. We are impressed and will be back soon for an exact repeat! Yummmmmm

Forget about Mugg & Bean & Friendz in Plett on a Saturday afternoon at 15h00. They are closed! How grateful we are for that otherwise we would never have discovered this delightful stop on the N2. Excellent service and tasty food. Highly recommended.

Nice cozy café next to the N2. Great coffee and friendly staff. We had breakfast and it was decent as well. Would recommend for a quick stopover for sure!

I was sitting outside .... and I ordered . The tables were dirty outside ( tables needs to be wiped ) I was waiting for my coffee . My friend came 20 minutes later and my coffee showed up half way , because the waiter tipped my coffee over while walking and did not bother to bring another saucer .... the spoon was just placed on the dirty table . My friend ordered coffee and he waited even longer his coffee ....... not to mention the trouble she had with the table next to us ......

My husband and I have spent the last week honeymooning in Plettenberg Bay and we drove past the Old Nick Village and noticed Roost. We read a few bad reviews, but decided to try them for breakfast this morning and those reviews were completely incorrect. It was a top-notch experience, with fast service and great food. We spent 35 minutes here from start to finish - cappuccinos arrived within minutes of ordering them, likewise with our sandwiches and orange juices. We'll be back for breakfast tomorrow!

Not great. Service in shambles even though restaurant was half full. Food was average as well. Coffee machine was broken, waited 20min for drinks.

Went to Roost this morning with a group of 7 people. Waited to be seated and were politely cautioned the food can take up to 30 minutes. We were absolutely comfortable as this is not unique in Plett this time of the year. Three smoothies arrived which were made from sour yoghurt. The waitress identified this before we explained highlighting that we were not the only ones being served dodgy smoothies. 40 minutes later the toasted sandwiches arrived- three plates short. We asked for the tomato sauce 4 times and then fetched it ourselves. A jug of water took 3 requests. Cutlery took a 15 minute wait after the initial food arrived. 10 minutes later another sandwich arrived. After a 75 minute wait for our full order, frustrated and hungry, the last two sandwiches arrived, one of which was not the one ordered. Our negative experience was peppered with a waitress who was unfriendly, and did little to try and assure us we were being attended to. I understand that Plett is busy this time of year, but this level of service is unacceptable anytime, anywhere. We will not be back, and I have no doubt many other diners will follow suit.

The cappuccino was delicious. We ordered a quiche, which was served cold. We asked to heat the dish and waited 15min. It was still cold in the centre and when we asked to warm it completely, they had no microwave. Average experience overall.

We wanted to eat breakfast at Roost this morning but unfortunately we weren't afforded the opportunity. We waited over 30 minutes for coffee but we didn't receive anything. We eventually cancelled our order and left.

Loved the breakfast so much, we went back twice! The one great thing about this place is the delicious bakes displayed which makes it irresistible not to buy. Service was great with helpful and friendly staff. Thanks for the great experience!

I loved this cosy bakery, come café, for a divine weekend lunch. The toasted sandwiches are huge and very reasonably priced. The potatoe fries, crispy outside, creamy inside, mmmmmm! Sounds like a love story, and it was! Very filling, but oh my goodness absolutely delicious. To drink, I had a homemade gingerbeer, totally authentic (like grandma made). Even if I just drive through Plett again, I'm stopping here.
