I got a takeaway for lunch today. The passion fruit smoothie I had was delicious. I also got the single portion salad which I also really enjoyed. There was a kick of ginger in one of the salads which gave the meal the perfect amount of heat.
I was also impressed with how quick their service is.
I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes.

I love being able to select a dairy-free vegan option for any of the smoothies. The blueberry one is my favourite!
I haven’t actually sat down to eat but have been there to order a take away meal.
They have a salad and protein lunch that gets served from 12:00. You can choose 3 salads or get 4 and order the protein for that day. The time I added protein it was fish cake.
I was very happy with the salads and would recommend it to any one looking for a healthy lunch option.
The down side is that it gets quite busy around that time and they only make one bowl of each salad.

Late lunch at Rootbar today! It's fairly small with dark walls and a few green plants dotted around to lighten it up. We had the large side table all to ourselves! This place is busy but around 3 the lunch rush dies down. My friend opted for the chocolate smoothie bowl and said she loved it but the portion was big and she ended up taking some home. I opted for the Thai chicken wrap which I can only describe in one word: YUM! So delicious, packed of chicken and vegetables, lightly toasted and such a yummy tangy/spicy sauce, served on a wooden board (nice touch!) ... the wrap alone would be a 5/5 rating. However, the cinnamon smoothie I had was too grainy and thus disappointing. Service was great! You order and pay at the till. Very casual and relaxed atmosphere. The cashier was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and able to recommend dishes. It's clear that they care a lot about their products and providing good service. One thing I will suggest is to list the ingredients in the wraps as well.
I've never actually been to Rootbar but I usually order it on ubereats when I'd like a nice healthy meal for lunch... I think that their passion fruit smoothie is absolutely delicious, I give that 5/5.. To eat I'll always have the chicken, avo & pesto wrap which is really good too, the only downfall in my opinion is that the wrap is really small so I'm often not full afterwards, but if you have it with a smoothie that's super filling.
Coffee stop at the Rootbar. I love their logo which embodies their “earth to table” view point. I really dig the ceiling - a black and white pattern of leaves and apples. It’s so over the top that it works. Having touches of green plants here and there breaks up the raw wood and black theme well. A small cozy space with ample plug points so you can do work and get your healthy on.
Everything is fresh with the focus being on smoothies, juices and few things to eat. I had the latte which was prepared perfectly. Wonderful creamy microfoam texture and perfect serving temperature. They have it right.
Great spot for a quick healthy breakfast. Lovely, friendly service. Have to stop myself from going here every weekend. Tried almost everything on their breakfast menu and all fantastic!
Ordered via UberEATS. The roasted veggies and feta wrap was delicious, good combination of beetroot, butternut, spinach, feta, pesto and avo. It was definitely a light meal as I was still quite hungry afterwards. Only complaint are that the avo inside was completely brown and there was hardly any pesto in the wrap.
Stunning little place that I stumbled upon in Newlands. Great ambience, food to die for, friendly staff, and very quaint. Plus, it's health oriented so you don't have to worry too much about calorie tracking! Five stars, and would definitely recommend.
Do yourself a favor and try the chocolate smoothie bowl. It will change your life. It's everything you want a smoothie bowl to be in terms of texture and flavor. I usually ask them to add some protein (whey or hemp) when I'm there after gym. I've had a few of there smoothies and salads which are also pretty tasty. I try to avoid going between 12-2 because it gets very packed and it's a pretty small place but if you're willing to brave the rush, that chocolate smoothie bowl will not disappoint!
