Review Carla's - Muizenberg

Lovely atmosphere. That was our favourite element. The prawns were also very fresh and very tasty. Normally I prefer to have a bit more flavour in my rice, but after eating it with the prawns, I understood why the rice was plain. It doesn’t detract from the very fresh taste, as it normally would. I can say these are some of the best prawns I’ve had.

Melt in the mouth muscles, followed by delectable prawns. All in delicious homemade sauces. The atmosphere and owner are warm, welcoming and fun. We had a great time, and look forward to visiting again. Thanks Carla and Alvina.

Recently visited Carla’s for a birthday dinner, we visited for the first time after many recommendations and were pleased with this quaint establishment. Food was lovely (prawns insane), good hands on and friendly service. Would be ideal to have some more ventilation in the restaurant. (Load shedding at fault) Otherwise a pleasant and peaceful experience! Would recommend

The most delicious food, authentic Mozambique style cooking . Owner is hands on. Limited menu but generous portions and so tasty.

Had a great meal here on holiday. Only serve prawns - and they are excellent.

A quaint little 26 seater venue with pleasant Portuguese music playing. A cosy intimate ambience. The meal offering limited to exclusively focus on prawns (nothing else on the menu due to a red tide at the time of our visit. Indicating that this spot serves fresh seafood). Though I believe nothing else needs to be on the menu, since Carla's is known for PRAWNS. If you're looking for The Most Delicious prawns in Cape Town, this is the Go-To spot. At first I thought the price was steep, however after tasting the prawns in that Magical Sauce, I believe it's well worth every penny. The latte was also quite delicious. Seriously the best prawns I've ever had. At least once in your life, treat yourself to a plate of prawns at Carla's. You can thank me later😂 Our compliments to the Chef❤️

Delicious Prawns. Tasty and Firm with a great sauce/marinade and a generous size. Carla is wonderful - friendly chatty and super accommodating with my aged mum. Very considerate and thoughtful and a great memory. Wonderful real atmosphere in a small and intimate setting - we had a fantastic evening. Thank you Carla. 😊

They do prawns absolutely perfectly. If you don't like praws, the peri-peri chicken but when you books, ask then to keep some as they often run out. That's it, but it's great. Note, they only take cash!

Carla is a warm host. Amazing prawns, peri-peri could have had a little more fire. No credit card facility, pay cash or EFT.

Delicious huge and perfectly cooked prawns and moist and spicy peri-peri chicken with Carla's delicious secret sauce. Byo wine policy is a bonus. We loved it! Sorry too busy eating to take pictures! Highly recommended.

It's nearly impossible to get a table here. There are only a few of them, they are booked in advance, and they seem to only book one party per table per night - so definitely don't expect to walk in! Once you do get a table, plan to order the prawns when you go. There are a few other items on the menu, but when we tried to order them, they turned out to not actually be available... That said, the prawns were really fantastic, so we didn't end up minding that they were the only option. Definitely a unique dining experience, and I would go back!

This is genuinely the most Lourenço Marques atmosphere I’ve experienced outside of being there in LM/Maputo! Great location and prawns help to transport us back! Thanks Carla

First time ever eating at this restaurant and they certainly delivered! The food was absolutely delicious, we had a bottle rose, the prawn appetizers, the hake double with coconut rice and the quarter peri peri chicken and to end with the Chocolate volcano- everything was perfect! I hope you try this place! Papa Joe is the best waiter! Excellent service :)

The mussels were amazing as a starter Great prawns and piri piri chicken. Unique in Cape Town . Again excellent as ever tonight.

Best prawns ever. Carla is great. Small restaurant, seats maybe 24 or so. Menu is prawns or chicken or go somewhere else. And it's all perfect . Don't be shy to ask for more sauce.
