Fantastic service and the food is never disappointing! And I've eaten at three different Hussar Grills and they are all incredibly worth dinning at. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We were a party of 10. Food arrived perfectly on time. The waitress Cebisile was absolutely fabulous! Service was excellent and food to perfection A must visit for steak lovers Will definitely be our new favorite in town.
You can never go wrong with a fillet on the bone and this ranked with some of the best I’ve tasted. Loved the way they present the meat and sides come separate
I have to commend management on the way they dealt with a “MrD” order that went wrong. They went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of and the food 2nd time round was great. This is a regular place for us as the staff are great and knowledgeable and in particular Sandra is our favorite waitress ! But the food is always outstanding and the way they rectified our issues was fantastic. Def try this place for a great steak and overall awesome experience.
This is a fantastic restaurant, from the food to the service I was really impressed. There steaks are well prepared just as you like them. I had a sirloin on the bone it was soft and succulent with one of the best pepper sauces ever, there vegetables were even well made and tasty. My husband had the ribeye steak and he raved about it. As I sat in the restaurant all I saw were happy patrons eating away looking happy.
There service is really good, the waiters are attentive and polite. Well trained.
We will be back.
The food was awesome. The Steak was absolutely tender like a knife through a butter. We had the Madagascar pepper fillet, Hasser Carperbagger and the chateau braind
Out for dinner. First time at Hussar, service was great, steak was flawless and wine list impressive. Definitely deserves a second visit😍😍😍
The original Hussar Grill first opened its doors in Rondebosch in 1964 and since then has built a reputation for being the best steak restaurant in Cape Town so when it first popped up in Johannesburg, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't keen to see how it stacked up against our Johannesburg 'locals'. With a fifty (50) year heritage in all things steak, a class-'A' grain-fed beef (and game) offering, and its award-winning wine list, THG certainly has a lot to offer in terms of a dining experience.
I cannot vouch for others but I am going to start this review with the fact that this particular THG's steak game is strong and as such, it is ranked up there as one of the best steakhouses that I have visited this year.
Onto the food:
We started with Steak Tartar, tender, finely chopped raw beef with all the traditional accompaniments and one of the biggest portions of oven-roasted Marrow Bones I've ever seen served with pesto and croûtes. Messy, mouth-watering and definitely a delicacy that I would have again.
From there it was onto our mains..I selected the House Specialty, Chateaubriand: a succulent fillet topped with brandy and flambéed then served with Béarnaise sauce on the side.
Our dessert was the Hussar Grill signature Ice Cream Dessert: vanilla ice cream, peanut brittle, marshmallow, nougat, honeycomb and sprinkled nuts, drizzled with their signature dark chocolate sauce. Extravagant, rich and a must-try for those who have a sweet tooth!
Another value-add that I noted a lot of families took advantage of was that The Hussar Grill, despite having an extensive wine list, allows you to bring your own wine for the meal without experiencing a corkage charge. That's right, THG charges no corkage.
In summary,
Service by Sandra: Exceptional!
Interiors: Modern, cosy and trendy!
Food: Good quality beef, great portion sizes and dishes that have a lot of flavour! What's not to love about South African Class-A grain-fed beef carefully aged, and then grilled to perfection?
*Recommendation: THG Waterfall Corner is a must try for the meat lovers!

I went to dinner with a few friends and it was overall a great experience. Firstly, they're serious about their meat. I like the simplicity in which they present their steak and sides separately. Starters are small but each one was flavoured incredibly well. The staff were vibrant and helpful, they never let us have an empty glass and provided recommendations for everything. The chef came to check on us too. It is pricy, but worth it for the quality of food.
All I can say is wow. This beautiful restaurant situated at the Waterfall Corner in Waterfall is a real gem.
We were welcomed by my new favorite snack, sweet potato crisps and olives. Our beautiful waitress, who was not only energetic and helpful, but incredibly knowledgeable on the menu helped us select the perfect wine to accompany the meals. And it was just that, perfect.
To start I had the springbok loin carpaccio, sliced paper thin, topped with parmesan shavings and drizzled with olive oil and balsamic reduction. Cyprian had the chicken livers served with croütes. And Gareth had the famous Italian tomato soup that has been with the restaurant since it opened in 1964.
For mains I had the Hussar Carpetbagger. This was a piece of fillet stuffed with a combination of smoked oysters, cheddar cheese and topped off with a brandy and wholegrain mustard saice. To be honest, it was really rich. But thats how I like it. Cyprian had the slow roasted lamb shank served on a bed of mashed potatoes. He said the lamb was so soft, it fell off the bone. Gareth had the 400g Ribeye steak with the Café de Paris herb and butter sauce. We all shared our sides, that inclided chips, onion rings and spinach and butternut. (My favorite)
For dessert Gareth and I had the Hussar Grill Ice Cream. A combination of vanilla ice cream, peanut brittle, marshmallows, nougat, honeycomb and sprinkled nuts. Drizzled in a chocolate sauce. Cyprian had the Chocolate Fondant served with vanilla ice cream.
And if that wasnt enough, we all tried the Chocolate Vodka Martini - apparently it is a Hussar Grill post dinner tradition.
The venue is well maintained, clean and easy to find. With lots of safe and secure parking. It has a real steak house feel and the service is beyond warm and friendly. If you looking for a good quality steak, I would highly recommend The Hussar Grill.
For my first time visiting this franchise, I was pleasantly impressed. With their latest branch opened in Monte Casino, we opted for this one due to some fab specials, 2 course lunch at R125!
The restaurant is a grillhouse standard decor, white table clothes, dark woods, wine displays and as an added bonus no corkage, though their wine selection is good.
Those complementary olives and sweet potatoes fries were definitely a highlight!
The starter were the calamari and chicken livers. The sauce on those livers, deliciously spicy and generous with some toasty bread. Mains were the parmesan chicken and rump with added side of blue cheese sauce. Chicken was a good portion smothered in sauce and my steak perfectly cooked medium with a spice rub.
Our waitress Sandra was an absolute star, being quite knowledgeable on wines and even allowing us tasters on the before selections(by the glass options and house brands) Service by her and team was exceptional. Outside of of selection of items, food served to other diners looked good and menu options including bar snacks reads well. To end we were given a warm chocolatey alcoholic drink with our bill, which was yum. A fab afternoon lunch indeed.
We regularly return to the Hussar Grill in Waterfall because it is consistently excellent. The fillet on the bone is one of the best steaks in Joburg. The atmosphere is great and the service is also excellent. There is also no corkage charge which is just another plus point for this restaurant.
