Great service, great food, relaxed atmosphere. Love popping in for a takeaway, or parking gor a relaxing lunch. Have always been satisfied with the service and food.
Huge menu at very agreeable prices. And an awesome meal. It is a roadhouse, so no airs and graces - just straight simple large portions and tasty food. The kind of place to bring a hungry family!

Always great food and more than enough to have at least two times, thus good if you need lunch for the next day, too.
The service here can be poor even on quiet days but the food is worth the wait.
Make sure you put in you drink & meal order at the same time.
Enjoy having a meal in you car like the good old days
Recently, I drove through to Burger Box Roadhouse Grill on Voortrekker Road in Factoria. This old tried and tested gem takes me back to my childhood, to drive in movies and roller-skates (you heard me, not rollerblades). Granted, its not to everyones tastes, but I enjoyed the trip back in time.
So first, a bit about Burger Box Roadhouse Grill.. This particular Burger Box is the original and has been around over sixty years. It was a fast food store in the 50's, and has evolved from there, only changing its name to include Burger Box in the 1980's. From there branches were opened in Kempton Park, Benoni and Rustenburg. The The Burger Box motto is "Good Food and a Smile.. That's Roadhouse Style".
My food: I ordered a stew (for some reason) which was full of fat and bones and not particularly good. However, I am told that when frequenting this establishment you really should just stick to what they do well: ribs, the footlong hotdog, milkshakes and their burgers (so I plan to do that on future visits).
I did however also try their double thick milkshake served with a marshmallow and wafer. DELICIOUS!
The service: Service with a smile and everything arrived quickly.
*Recommendation: Where in Johannesburg can you order your lunch from your parked car under a tree, and then sit and eat it in the traditional roadhouse manner still? History and character are not lacking in this establishment (although I'd steer clear of the stew). I highly recommend their double thick milkshakes!

Been eating at Burgerbox for years now. Great food (especially the ribs). They also serve the best milkshakes ever. Great as a takeaway place but not the greatest to sit and eat in. Service very slow and better to call and order before heading their way.
Wow, the best eating experience ever! be it a take away or a sit down (car) ! the food is out of this world and best value for your money! At least once a month we indulge and get to this most wonderful food and service! thank you ! your food is amazing and well worth the wait!!!!!
Burger Box has the BEST footlong hotdog, ribs, chips, onion rings and milkshakes. The location isn't the best, but I will go there anytime for the food. Service is always great, and staff friendly. You can relax in your car with a drink while you wait for your food, very old school. Love the experience.

As soon as we pulled into the Burger Box parking lot, images of rollerskating waitresses in hot pants and old Elvis Holly songs popped into my head...then my tastebuds kicked in and I started salivating over the Holy Trinity of roadhouse food: the BFS (burger, fries and shake).
Possibly the most cheerful soul on the West Rand, Da General ¬- no really, that is his name - came bounding up to our window to welcome us and take our order. This guy absolutely lives Burger Box’s tag line: "Good Food and a Smile... That's Roadhouse Style".
Although their menu offers more choices than there are blades of grass on a cricket pitch at remarkably good prices, I instinctively knew I would order a cheeseburger, fries and strawberry shake - the stalwart order by which any good burger joint should be benchmarked.
When that trademark roadhouse tray was hooked onto our window, I knew I was in the presence of BFS greatness. A gigantic burger with a patty made of beef from an actual cow, and crispy fries which were most definitely potatoes before they ended up on my plate; beckoned me. Oh and the milkshakes were perfect...you know ones that are made with loads of creamy vanilla ice-cream, strawberry syrup and full-cream milk, none of this fat-free soya nonsense.
My chance encounter with Burger Box was the closest thing to BFS Nirvana I’ve ever experienced. But then again, Burger Box has been in the same spot for more than half a century so they have perfected the art of Roadhouse food. In the ‘50s a fast food fast food store was located in the same spot which became a roadhouse in the ’60s, and during the ’80s it took the name Burger Box and evolved into the business it is today.
If eating in your car in the traditional roadhouse manner is not really your thing, never fear...you can take a seat in the sit-down restaurant or outside in the garden area (which also has a playground for the little peeps).
Excellent old school food that's far from over priced. Incredible milkshake and chips that are to die for. Service can be a bit slow at times, but that's no worries when you're able to kick up your feet in your own car.
Service not to bad. Could be a bit faster but overall not too bad. Nice variety on the menu. Catering for kids and adults. Prices are okay, reasonable. Food is delicious and worth it. Will recommend it if you want the roadhouse effect
Such an awesome vibe! Very impressive milkshake that has set the bar for "double thick" it was more like soft seve ice-cream 😍🥳
I loved my chicken strips with the potato chips. The salad was ok. It is always nice to sit outside.
Haven't been there in years and popped in for a quick milkshake... Ended up having the best burger and chips with 2 chocolate milkshakes. Food is still great and best value for money
Great selection from burgers, to pizza and something for the whole family. I enjoyed a toasted sandwich with a butterscotch milkshake, was very satisfied with my choice. Park and eat in your car, dine inside or outside with and very good and clean kiddies play area. This is a great place for food on the go or to spoil the family. The waitrons that served me was well mannered but had a different person coming to my window everytime.
As a very darn regular client, I expect the food quantity the same through out. It's not the first time.... to ight I have had the worst. Beef curry as though as rubber. Potatoes raw. Not good at all.
Recently renovated and updated. One of the few original Roadhouses left. Great service, food well prepared and options that will make the entire family happy! In car dining experience with a big screen television that tunes into your car audio system. Additionally step into the dining area equipped with a playground that will keep the kids entertained for hours.
I love the variety. From big meals for a big appetite, to smaller choices for the not so hungry! Very generous with their chips (It is like having a potato on your plate) and the service is always super friendly!
We popped in to have some milkshakes and chips. Service was friendly and quick. Waiter had his mask on and he carried a sanitizer spray for your hands for paying. The milkshakes were ice cold and thick and very tasty. The chips were thick cut and hot.
There is a child friendly pay area as well as a sit down area. They serve alcohol as well - super bock.
The one blemish was the plastics straws given with the milkshake and the plastic cups for takeaway. But apart from that we will be back!!
Awesome place and scrumptious food. Great service.
