What a pleasant find my wife and I had yesterday (Saturday) afternoon for lunch. We visited as a friend of mine was performing there so we figured we would go and support him and have lunch there. The atmosphere is great...more of a pub vibe but all I can say is we were pleasantly suprised. We both ordered the Fish and Chips...I had it with Chips and Veggies and my wife had chips and salad. The Fish was beautifuly fried, not oily and was delicious. They have a varied menu including burgers, Pizzas, steaks etc and we will definitely return. Highly reccommended.
Great food and a great place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Waiters are very helpful and on the ball. Food that you recieve is a actually a big portion for the price you pay, great value.
Wow. What a great little spot. We spent 3 nights in Kommetjie and all 3 days we ate at Fishermans.
The vibe was fantastic with musicians singing chilled tunes in the background.
While we had to wait for a table on our first day we managed to book for the other 2 and a good thing we did.
The food is amazing and we all tried a variety of things from pizza to fish to burgers to calamari, which for me was the winner!
But best of all was the secret jalapeño poppers for starters. Don't miss these!
A great place and I'll def be back next time we in the hood!
The legendary Fisherman's
As it's more commonly known.
Situated in the heart of Kommetjie (that’s way way south peninsula for the lesser informed) lies the Fisherman.
Ample outdoor seating - kiddie’s corner included - for the sunny and not so sunny Cape Town days.
A huge TV lounge / open bar area - great for upcoming Rugby - a cosy 'Local' corner pub and an interesting restaurant all under one roof.
Saturday afternoon, time for some frosted lagers and a bite to eat
There to entertain us on arrival – Entertainment every Saturday afternoon - was Saxophone / guitarist Gary 'The Lips' Sletcher. Doing what he does best .Some amazing sax and a play-list that entertained all.
With the sounds of Gerry Raffety's Baker Street still ringing in our ears, we sat down to an enjoyable medley of light snacks and pizza.
A foursome of Chilli poppers (R45.00), a dozen plus crumbed mushrooms (R42.00) and some delightful wood oven prepared pizza.(Various)
The chilli poppers came up trumps. Creamy and enough bite to warrant a second round. Don’t forget to add a touch of 'Jou Ma se Chilli'
All food served was tasty, flavorsome and enough thereof. Meal presentation skills need a bit of a bump up. Garnish etc. bland and not adding value to visual appeal of the dishes served. Pizzas - wood oven, thin base - at this venue are always a good call. Have enjoyed many a take home and always meet expectations.
In summary. The Fisherman's is an all-round good venue to visit. Food is good, service is attentive and friendly with menu pricing reasonable. The venue caters for all - from the local visitor to the passing tourist.
Take a walk through the venue and admire some amazing works of art that adorn the walls.Truly some amazing art.
When passing through Kommetjie, worthy of a visit, even if it’s just a quick beer a light snack & some laid back music, Kommetjie style.(Pet friendly)
Thanks to You All
See you again soon

A great local watering hole with decent meal portions, quality food, and many drink specials. There's a kiddies area, large smoking area, and plenty of shade. Good service and chilled vibes all round.
Steak Egg and chips was amazing. Great value and delicious. Nice atmosphere with musicians playing outside. Chocolate milkshakes were so good too.
Great place. Found it by accident on an unplanned Sunday afternoon drive. Good food, great service and live music too!
Fantastic food and wonderful staff. The steak, ribs, and pizza are top notch. Amazing waitstaff I always have a great time coming here.
Lovely comfortable dining experience. Great food at reasonable prices. Lovely views of False Bay. Permanet reliable car gaurd ensuring your car safety.
Enjoyed the atmosphere especially the fact that they allow dogs to come with you as I am a dog lover and owner but I didn't like the fact that they didn't have any water to flush the toilet I think that is something that they should make provision for
Great fun for the whole family with the kids play area on one side and live music on the other side of the restaurant.
We all enjoyed Peri-Peri chicken braai. Food was OK, but atmosphere was fantastic, live music was briliant. I have never seen so much dogs in my life. Big sign that says no pets, but almost every second table had a doggy friend. We love dogs and they were part of the fun. People who do not like dogs might have an issue. Very interesting locals. We had lots of fun and laughter.
Service is very very quick n food is amazing n tasty... staff super friendly n the drinks prices is very reasonable food abit on the expensive side not to hectic thou... my child couldn't get enough of the chalk board the have put up at the park...that a nice feature as she loves writing more then playin lol... does get realy dark at night thou n the candles at the tables doesnt doo much .. further on amazing place...one of my go to places.. oohh yes there chips are the best nice n big crispy outside n nice n soft on the inside
Not a pristine seafood restaurant, but perfectly imperfect. One should always enjoy any restaurant within its genre. This place is old and quaint, past its glory days, but great! For me, it is a 'real place, cosy and interesting, with good 'fish and chipsy' kind of food and always frugal and awash with feelings of 'fellowship ' from happy chatty patrons, -
like an old English pub.
