We really enjoyed our breakfast at Bootleggers. There’s some interesting options on the menu, for sure. The setting is excellent.
Right on the main road with views over False Bay, this is a great spot. At first the menu seems a bit limited, but there is actually a great variety.
Came in for a lunch - had a Croissant Melt, a Chicken Avo wrap, and a Chickpea and Cauliflower salad. All three were really tasty and well presented.
And the coffee is awesome!
Had the most delicious Eggs Benedict and Chai latte for breakfast with a beautiful view of the sea/ harbour. Would definitely recommend Bootlegger Coffee Company in Kalk Bay, very lovely place with kind staff.
A definite must when you’re in the Kalk Bay area. The coffee is a little on the pricey side, but the quality, taste and smoothness was worth it.
For those peanut butter fans (like me), the power smoothie is fantastic!

Bootlegger Kalk Bay was our family's choice for Sunday breakfast. With space at a premium inside we were seated outside. I imagine this is normally very pleasant for this elegantly situated cafe on main road, but on the day we had to contend with a very chilly south Easter!
We ordered cappuccinos which were warm, not hot, and served in glasses, which I suppose is quite innovative but the idea will take me, for one, some time to get used to.
Mercifully, our waiter managed to find us a table inside before we ordered food and the second cappuccino went down really well in the much warmer and pretty vibrant atmosphere inside.
Bootlegger's breakfast menu is extensive with lots of interesting and different options, all at pretty reasonable prices. You can also build your own if you prefer.
I ordered truffle infused mushrooms on ciabatta with poached eggs which was beautifully presented and equally delicious. My wife and son had the eggs Benedict which they too loved. My daughter chose the 'scrambowl' which she said was tasty. I noted that it was quite a small portion probably not suited to the very hungry.
So, close to top marks for the food. We were in no rush and enjoyed the family catch up time but, I think the majority of diners would find the waiting time unacceptably long. That said, our waiter was very friendly and apologized profusely for the long wait and we left feeling happy.
Definitely worth a visit!
Great location. Love sitting outside on a sunny day. The food was yummy. Homemade pizzas are delicious. The crispy chicken Burger was good, but lacked a bit of flavour. Service was great. Will definitely be back!
Stopped by for a quick cup of tea & ended up have the Power Smoothy with the Cos Salad. Yum! My better half had a pot of Earl Grey tea & the eggs Benedict on rye. We both liked the decor although it was definitely right up my alley. The service was super efficient but friendly. Certainly a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
Since I've started cycling socially I have discovered the bootleggers flat white coffee. This delicious coffee had succeed ed in tempting me into the different franchises around the peninsula. The food have proved consistently tasty and fresh (although with dubious availability) but it's the service which is consistently lacking. Surely sending all waitrons on some kind of training will improve overall service and give the brand a service to be proud of. I used to choose vidae coffee (even though it wasn't my favorite) because I knew wherever I went I would receive having interactive service. Bootleggers could take a page out if that book.
Great location with many seating options. We enjoyed sitting outside and had a delicious mocha and cappuccino. The chocolate cake was not memorable. Service was excellent.
