What a gem is this place! Delicious food, all home grown and home made with love and you taste that for sure!
We stayed here for 2 nights and loved our friendly hosts Reuben and Adriaan.
Absolutely remarkable. I am left without words. It is now a personal commitment to never overlook this establishment. Undoubtedly, it stands as the finest place I have ever visited. The level of hospitality and professionalism is exceptional. The evident passion of the owner for this establishment is truly commendable.
As dewy-eyed as this may sound, The Belfry Kitchen is a much needed refreshment in this world of bad everything. It truly is a GEM!! The cafeteria has a great atmosphere that encourages one to unwind & relax using a wonderful mix of Cape Verde Morna, Klezmer, Salsa & Latin Jazz. It was so nice seeing other customers moving to the sound of proper music.
What can I say about the food : its fantastic! We especially enjoyed the Sunday lunch. Its 3 course meal at a comically low price. In fact all meals are priced low because the cafeteria grows the ingredients onsite. Though the meals are affordable they do not reflect the quality of the food you receive.
What stood out to us was the service. Reuben & his family are gracious and hospitable hosts. We stayed at the Orchard Cottage which is positioned with a beautiful view of the farm & mountains. We should have stayed longer, but we will certainly return to stay again soon.
This is not a restaurant so don't treat it as such. It is not a B&B either so don't expect 5 star treatment. Think of it as going back in time, to an era where while you're on a long journey, you stop at a small quaint town and while there you meet a friendly neighbour who invites you over for a meal and a night stay. He engages with you in friendly conversation, and shows genuine interest in you and your story. Do that and you will love it, I guarantee it.
Wonderful menu , local , fresh ingredients , very affordable, friendly staff
Awesome 3 course lunch on Sunday. Excellent quality/price ratio and super friendly owner.
Great hidden gem, an oasis in Langkloof.
Lovely accommodation options on the campus too but not particularly kid friendly.
Absolutely stunning! This is by far the most wonderful experience. All the food is made from scratch and is grown in their own gardens. The 4 course chef's experience was wonderful. Homemade bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for starters. Main course was roast beef in a caramelized onion sauce over smooth mashed potatoes with a side of fresh spinach and cherry tomatoes. A selection of homemade cheeses and crackers was our next surprise followed by a medley of homemade sweets for dessert. The chocolate mousse cake was out of this world! All this was washed down with some homemade ginger beer. Very well priced. It felt wonderful to experience this. 10 out of 10
Great coffee (LavAzza) and the BEST chocolate cake we have ever tasted! Love the interior. Love the music. Will never drive past this gem again!
Lovely restaurant in tranquil setting. Food was delicious. Bread is baked daily in their wood-fired oven.
Love this small bistro. Amazing Atmosphere, such humble and friendly service. The cheese and chutney omelet was great and the plunger coffee (load shedding) was very good!! This visit made my day. 2nd time visiting and would def recommend a stop over. I'll def come back again when passing through 😀
