The place itself is like a maze where many of the stores are packed compactly next to each other. It does make it an interesting experience when one explores the many hidden gems such as the Salvation Cafe, which sells the best cheesecake I have ever tasted and I don't normally like cheesecake.
I had not explored the mall side but walking around the stores was a fun experience. I would not suggest going there alone since the carguards tend to be fairly aggressive when it comes to tipping them and there are a few homeless people loitering around the area.
Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and it is a great place to go with friends as a uni student.
The place demonstrates strong support for the community and boasts aesthetic with its industrial-chic architecture. The overall ambiance creates a trendy and inviting atmosphere. Would love to pay another visit when there are events hosted.
Stunning little collection of alcoves offering great coffee and grub, clothes, proper shoe care for quality footwear, Atelier art, second hand books...
A true Joburg gem.
Absolutely gorgeous setting with a lot of amazing stores. Books, music, plants, food, etc. Most stores close early, be sure to check the trading hours
44 Stanley is a really interesting place to visit. It is truly a gem in the city, both because of its vibey atmosphere and because of its aesthetic setup. It has lots of easy access parking (both free and paid options), and is relatively easy to find.
Despite this, 44 Stanley is not a place I would regularly come to for leisure or entertainment. It is very expensive. Tickets for the Bioscope are about R300 for 2 people (including a pizza), and Peachy is R45 for a slider (see attached picture). Personally I only thought that the ice cream shop (Forest Gelato) was reasonable at R38 for a scoop of ice cream (but I was served 1,5 scoops).
I did not indulge in the other stores (there is stationery, ceramics, clothes, vinyls, and more). However, I will say that both the Library and the le’Elephant Terrible Bookshop are must sees.
Great vibe. Everyone should check this place out if you come to Joburg. It's got a good day and night vibe. I do think that there is an opportunity for the night life scene to be slightly enhanced.
A really beautiful chill out space. Has a beautiful vibe any day of the week. The home of handcrafted furniture and artisan works. This spaces hosts handmade chocolate deli, Bean There coffee, Mr Vinyl, Salvation Cafe and Deli. There is a beautiful gallery, bookstore, bag store and also homes the Petagonia suppliers for South Africa. It’s a beautiful hang out spot for more mature crowds a bit intimate. There is a lot of parking outside.
Bought the most delicious chocolates here. Nice wide range that comes in a small beautiful gift box. Staff are friendly and the enviroment is so pretty.
So worth the drive! Eclectic atmosphere and beautiful shops make it a mini-break in the middle of Jozi. You could be in Prague, but it's more affordable! Safe parking. Great ice cream. Bookstores. Galleries. Plants. Heaven, basically.
Many little shops... loved the 2nd hand bookshops... and the place selling Indian clothes and especially linen..
Many places to eat
Went to the coffee shop to read
There were people remote working as there are plugs and wifi...
