I really enjoy Nu. I basically get it everytime I’m at the gym.
I always get the vegan rainbow pad thai wrap or immunity wrap with a peanut butter blue smoothie. The taste of the wraps are not very consistent but always taste great. The wraps ingredients could also be mixed better because sometimes you only get a bite of one ingredient instead of a mix.
There are lots of vegan options such as vegan and gf waffels, vegan ice cream sandwiches, vegan wraps/salads and smoothies.
Staff are very friendly and food always comes fast.
I love the menu at Nü - a huge selection of healthy eats, juices, smoothies and coffee/ tea. Everything I’ve tasted from here has been delicious and value for money. As it’s a small cafe, located in a gym, you can’t expect gourmet dining - nonetheless their inventive menu is better than competitors’.
I ordered a breakfast spicy bean wrap and a Refresher smoothie as take away delivery.
The wrap was brilliant. The mix of scrambled eggs, coriander, feta, spiced red kidney beans, spinach, avo and corn salsa was unusual and yummy. I really enjoyed this meal.
The smoothie, a mix of strawberries, blueberries, apple juice, black pepper and mint was absolutely delicious. I loved it.
I loved the food and will definitely order again!
Delicious and healthy! After our workout at Virgin Active we wanted something yummy but healthy. We had the whey flapjacks and they did not disappoint! No sugar, no gluten, no guilt. Enjoyed it thoroughly and the service was fast.
The reason why I go to gym is to experience the delight of a healthy meal and drink after a workout! Never a bad experience and the staff are super friendly.
I have always been a huge fan of Nu since my Cape Town days. I was so glad when one opened up in JHB at the gym I go to. Their food is always delicious, fresh and bursting with flavor and healthy vibes. I am a huge fan of the breakfast wrap (have it with scrambled eggs). The iron kick is also a must. The protein flapjacks are incredible and my favorite smoothies are the blueberry reefer and the basic with added blueberries (try it!). Their portion sizes are big and they don't skimp on filling their wraps which is great. Definitely a must if you're into healthy, wholesome food.
I used to go to the Nu cafe by waterfall corner all the time. Would almost get smoothies every other day. Very sad that they have reallocated to East Gate. Nu offered a range of meals with super foods in it which was great because often I wouldn't know how to cook or use the super foods in my meals. My fav meal at Nu is the oat porridge as well as the pancakes ! The smoothie bowl was a bit disappointing, it looked great but it had a very watery base - but what was I thinking, its called a "smoothie" bowl for a reason.
Nu cafe is the new heathy lifestyle option at Virgin Active, complementing the well established Kauai outlets across the network. The food options are fresh and look very interesting. I've tried the refresher salad and mexi-taco bowl. Both were very tasty, well prepared generous portions of all the good stuff, including the avo! My partner had the Protein plate which was equally tasty
I wish the cafe had listed itself as inside a gym because if you're not a member then you can't enter. Luckily my friend is a member so I got in as a guest. The juice was fresh and sweet. The protein flapjacks were so soft and fluffy!
Very clean and neat eating space. We had scrambled eggs and toast, as well as an Open omelette with ricotta, rosa tomatoes and basil. These were Very filling and delicious, and the service was quick too.
