Situated in gold reef city casino Ocean basket franchise and i found that food was really good and fresh,chips were well cooked and fish was really nice ,enjoyable time .

I stopped in at this Gold Reef City Ocean Basket recently for a light meal before a show at Lyric theatre (with a girlfriend) and this was the only packed restaurant on a Friday night which I think is always a telltale sign! Despite OB not being fine dining, there is definitely something to be said for this little franchise being voted South Africa's most loved seafood restaurant, and when I am in unfamiliar territory I tend to always stick to the tried and tested staples.
As such, I waited a short period of time, before being seated. When we sat down, I ordered a glass of the Ocean Basket wine and settled in to look over the menu and have a chat.
On the food side, we both chose to share a seared salmon salad and assortment of sushi platters and in terms of the value for money and portions, I have no complaints.
On the service side, our sushi took at least thirty minutes and the bill even longer, which I would not have minded, if we didn't have a show to get to.
*Recommendation: Despite the slow service (partly due to the fact that there wasn't an empty table in the place), the food was of a good standard and incredibly well-priced. If I had more time to spare before a show, I would definitely return!

Wow, fast service!! Pity I can't remember the guys name, but he was quick and friendly.
We were late for a show but had to grab something to eat before it started. Sat down ordered and then the drinks were there went straight to starters and while eating, mains arrived, we were so impressed given the fact that it was a full house that day. The sushi presentation was beautiful :-)The pace was amazing!!
Our food was lovely and fresh, we left satisfied.
Keep it up and we might be coming to just this OB in Gauteng

This is the best ocean basket to visit, their food is beyond perfect and their servers are fantastic. It was brought to my attention by my dad who could eat only the garlic bread that at this ocean basket they really are spoiling you with what you are receiving in comparison to the other ocean baskets where the garlic bread wasn't the same. The fish is cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Of the many times I've indulged in their sushi, I can tell you that they really are perfecting the technique. The dessert is as perfect as you could ever wish it to be.
Am a bit boring when it comes to Ocean Basket, I always have the hake grilled with salad, a winner and always consistently delicious, a great family spot for a quick dinner before a movie at Gold Reef City
Attended a team lunch on Sunday. Table was set and ready for our party of 12 when we arrived. Food did take a while to arrive, as did drinks. But Donald, our waiter, was really good. He remembered who ordered what (which is very rare nowadays) and also made a note of extra requests, with not even a notepad. Props to Donald. The table was very impressed. Had the Pick Of The Ocean, with a side of stir fried veg instead of chips and rice. Great meal, stir fry was fresh and al dente, and the selection of fish (calamari, grilled fish & prawns) was very tasty and full of flavour. Things to improve would just be speed of delivery, everything else was great.
We were at the casino and opted to eat at the Ocean Basket. We were seated immediately by a friendly hostess and our waiter was friendly and efficient. I had the prawn and hake combo with a side Greek salad which was fresh and tasty. Overall everything was great but the air conditioning in the restaurant was not working which made us hot and uncomfortable which spoilt an otherwise good experience.
