Super friendly and helpful staff. They do a great job with helping you mix in and enjoy the local scene. Lots of cool people and energy in the area to feel inspired by the culture, learn about the history, and appreciate the beauty of the community.
Very helpful and friendly people. Loved the vibe, felt very safe in the hostel. The neighborhood is not always as safe, but staff offered us to walk us to the ATM, which was very sweet. Would recommend everyone to go to Curiocity!
First time visiting Joh-berg and I stayed here with my friend. Being from Australia we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into but Curiocity Staff and other residents staying there welcomed us in straight away. Stayed in an 8 person dorm which was basic but spacious. The public spaces are wh
While we didn't stay at Curiocity Backpackers this time, we dropped by to chill and work while waiting for car repairs nearby. My husband has stayed here before and found it clean and reasonably priced for a hostel. The common areas were impressively clean, and we had a delightful dining experience
The staff are super helpful with information. The hostel vibe was amazing and the common areas are beautiful with enough sitting areas. I loved that there was a common area only for residents. The staff are really concerned about the safety of their guests. Disliked · The music at the nearby bars p
Great entrypoint into Maboneng and Joburg as a whole. Don’t skip the tours. They’re really good (shout-out to Eko!). Keep in mind that Foxstreet is loud and getting to sleep is difficult! The best things are the staff and the fact that travelers and locals get to mingle. This will often result in ha
For anyone that loves backpacking this place defines it. Casual visit for a Friday night, you are in for a good vibe. Good class of people
I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean and vibey. As far as an SA backpackers it's styling.
Great place to chill and watch people. Their beef stew is so delicious.
A really lovely place with nice culture and people. A great mix between locality and tourism. The place is so unique and special, but I do have to say that two things were harder for me during my stay. 1. The beds creaking and being quite unstable in the shared dormitory. Every move could be felt a
Really good vibes with friendly staff and locals. Great place to stay or even just pop in for a drink.
Great stay, I wish I could have been there longer. The place has a super feel, staff are great and Maboneng is a super area that you'll feel at home in. The only downside, to stay was the loud noise/music until after midnight and that the Wi-Fi did not connect to my devices. Otherwise, spot on! Don'
It was a really nice and very pleasant stay. I get to meet different people from different locations. Have insightful conversations. I would definitely recommend this place. Thinking of going back just for the vibe.
this is a super lovely place to stay. The vibes the cool streets and the cool people are just amazing. Want to experience a place with amazing riggae, R and B, street arts and dance? Maboneng is the place to explore and Curiocity is the place to stay!
We had a beautiful stay at your place! So many lovely people and many new experiences for example the rugby game! Every evening there is a place to catch up people and have a nice chat with good music! Thank you so much for having us! We will come again!
It’s a great hostel and jazz night on sundays is pretty great. However, if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs, it can get loud at night due to the parties on the street.
Everything is amazing, staff, tours. But wifi and connectivity are practically unexistant and unpredictable. Wifi (when it does work) doesn't reach the rooms, and 4G/5G signal is very weak. With load shedding this gets worse, since they don't have a generator.
I enjoyed the inner city walking tour organized by Curiocity. A great way to learn about the arts district and downtown area, which includes many murals, sculptors/statues, and a stop in the Rand Club (semi private and very old club).
A truly different place, great location on a vibey street surrounded by bars and restaurants! They offer great activities for the solo traveller or groups. Friendly and helpful staff! A definite stay over when visiting Johannesburg!
