Great steakhouse in Rosebank with a large variety of meats. They also had plenty of vegetarian options. The ostrich and oxtail were both delicious. It was a great place to try some traditional SA foods. They had a large selection of wines as well as South African liquors and a lot of scotch and whiskies too. Staff was friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable.

300g Fillet with roast veggies + butternut. Steak was cooked very well (medium). Was tender and full of flavour. Dessert was a condensed milk and raspberry ice cream loaf. Dessert sounds too sweet but the raspberries broke it up and it was very nice.

I am not sure why we dressed so colourful during a recent visit to The Grillhouse Rosebank but we owned it! đŸ„ł I had Hallomi cheese and @SirNoid had the Bone Marrow for starters. Both were great! I chose the Fillet on the bone with mash and vegetables (didn't get a picture of the pumpkin smiling sorry!) which was delicious but I took most of it home as it was simply too much. @SirNoid stuck with his favourite cut, Rib Eye. Both were rare as requested and full of flavour. As a side note, I've had the Salmon not so long ago and it is also highly recommended. We were a bit boring with Dessert but with the current state of the heat down in Africa... Ice cream and chocolate sauce... Hit all the right spots. We always have Cappuccino to end a meal. 😊 Food is always great at The Grillhouse At Rosebank and I love that the Staff has clearly been there for many years. I do find the plating quite boring but it is on point with classic, dark wood, Steakhouse vibes. Came here for an early dinner and had the beef fillet on the bone and the beef platter, with sides of sweet potato chips and veg. Both were good value for the amount of meat provided. The rub on the beef fillet was excellent - no sauce needed. My main complaint is that my steak was not cooked correctly - I asked for medium and it was medium rare, close to rare. For a restaurant that specializes in high end grilled meat, I expected better.

Always a fantastic experience at the Grillhouse Rosebank. The prices are fair and the quality is always top notch. Staff can sometimes be a bit overwhelmed but nothing too serious. The thing I love most about the Grillhouse is that they will cook your meal for you any which way you want with little to no questions asked. For me, as a meat "heathen" this is perfect. The ostrich medallions are always a winner.

Fillet steak, rare to medium rare, mustard seed and pepper encrusted basting, delicious chips and Springbok Carpaccio to boot. That steak though, wow. When combined with the special basting, the chips, and the specially matched glass of shiraz (or two), it was the best steak meal I've eaten. Coming from an Australian that is high praise.<br/><br/>Just the tenderness, the technique in cooking, the quality of the cut, and natural flavour was exactly what I needed on this very chilly Johannesburg night.<br/><br/>The five stars are for the steak. The Springbok Carpaccio was also interesting, while not everyone's cup of tea: the texture is not like beef carpaccio, and I couldn't quite put my finger on what it reminded me of in terms of texture and flavour. But then it hit me (and my dining companions) - it tasted like a subtle and more substantial variation of smoked salmon. Don't laugh until you try it - it honestly resembled smoked salmon more than game.<br/><br/>The bottom line is this: if you're in Rosebank and enjoy a good steak, hearty food, and bold wine - go to the Grillhouse. Pricey by Johannesburg standards, but on this occasion you do get what you pay for. I had to go back there twice to make sure, but I say five stars.

Sunday lunch with the Mrs. We were both in need of a steak. Boy did we find it. All the way from the service to the fillet and New York sirloin was excellent. I think obviously a night time arrangement would probably have suited the decor and ambience but we didn’t care. We were happy.

What a lovely restaurant. I have always wanted to come here because I have heard such good things. The service is amazing from the time you enter, super attentive staff. The complimentary bread looked really good, I just didn't have any space in my belly for it as we just came from a movie where I devoured quite a bit of popcorn. The fillet I ordered was phenomenal,  I had it with a side of greek salad which was delicious (most creamiest feta imaginable). I wish I had the mashed potato and onion rings though as I have been told that it is divine, maybe next time. :) I had a glass of Merlot with my meal and it was goooood. I feel it is a little overpriced but worth the experience.

I visited the Grillhouse last week Friday. I was so excited to have dinner here with my dad because they never disappoint. This time I was so disappointed. There was no bread on arrival. The towels that we were served to wipe our hands were ice cold. The food was great, as usual, but my experience this time was watered down because I didn't get the excellent service that I'm used to.🙁

Went there last week for my partner’s 30th Birthday, & not only did they let us bring our own cake, but they also gave him ice-cream & chocolate to say Happy Birthday! How sweet! <br/><br/>But onto the real stuff:<br/>Service 5/5 - attentive without being overbearing<br/>Food 5/5 - that welcome bread is just everything (please, where can I buy it???). My partner had the Black Angus Steak - perfection!!! I had the wild mushroom steak - amazing! The food here literally never disappoints. And always take your servers advice on the steak <br/>Vibe 5/5 - laid back & relaxed - perfect for an intimate dinner. <br/>Decor 3/5 - the only thing this place needs is a decor update. One of the seats in our booth was flat, and those statues are a bit out of touch in the current climate<br/>Overall 5/5 - I’m sticking with 5 because this place really is just great. Let’s start with the positives....... the waiter was excellent and knowledgeable and that’s basically where it ended. I ordered a lack luster 300g Sirloin which was the blandest, toughest piece of meat I had ever had, the chips were obviously heated and reheated and were so hard to chew, my wife had a vegetarian curry which was great tasting but almost was a starter portion for the price so overall not a great dining experience unfortunately.

This time around, wasn't such a great experience. We were there for drinks at the bar with a friend last Friday. I ordered an apple Martini and the waiter brought me Apple sours in a martini glass garnished nicely with olives. Apple sour guys for a Martini? It's not even part of the mix.

This restaurant is a meat lovers heaven. I don’t eat red meat but I managed to find my perfect pork ribs. Flame grilled to perfection, I added this to a baked potato and then finished it off with a refreshing sorbet shared with my fiancĂ©.

The Grillhouse is an easy choice when craving good steak. They are a no-fuss steakhouse and the meat is always cooked to perfection. It does get a bit stuffy though, with the restaurant always being poorly lit and packed with people. Nonetheless, I always enjoy the food.

This place didn’t live up to my expectations. I was expecting to be blown away but was left underwhelmed . For the price you’re paying, they really need to up their game. Starters were okay, I went with fried calamari, nothing too exciting there. For mains, I went with a fillet steak, mash, creamed spinach and fried onion rings. My steak came out well done, so I sent it back. Second time it was on point, medium rare. The sides were a let down though, just so bland and unexciting. I would return, but I’m in no hurry to do so.

We felt like a steak last night and opted to go to Grillhouse Rosebank for a change. It was a stark reminder that this is a place that stands out from its competitors. From the positive greeting at the door, the willingness to give us a table, the service that was faultless, and the food that was just perfect. Steaks done to perfection. Beautiful baked potato. Wonderful chips cooked in clean oil. The most delicious Madagascar sauce. Not to mention the ice cream and chocolate sauce that we finished off with. Top quality stuff. What a pleasure and worth the little extra you pay for a smooth evening that is without complaint. And how many restaurants bring you freshly baked bread on a board? Lashings of fresh butter melting into it. Delicious and hearty and wonderful!

Service was excellent. Waiter knew his dishes and specials. He was always there to top up wine and drinks and had a really good manner without being intrusive. Food was excellent. We sat on the outside as the inside was a hit dark for us. Had a great time and would definitely recommend it!

This restaurant is beautifully kitted out with a very spacious feel to it. The food however is definitely not of the Grillhouse standard... the healthy chicken breasts have the oddest texture-almost a crunchy grisley type texture ( First time I thought it was perhaps a bad day,2nd time same thing), the salad had hardly any lettuce and what was there was wet ,black and soggy. The steak had a tough layer of unchewable fat around it. The only great thing is the service. I asked for a take away and gave it to a beggar on the street. Hope he enjoyed it!

We’ve been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Best steak in Johannesburg by far. It melts in your mouth. The calamari and cheesecake are also delicious. The chefs are outstanding. We were lucky enough to have Coco as our waiter today. He is really incredible! He sets the bar.

An amazing menu and the food lives up to it. The restaurant was very full and seem to try accommodate more that it should. We unfortunately had a table that was in the way of the waiters' walk paths and it was pre booked. The staff was trying to be very accommodating especially on such a packed day.

First, I want to have a shoutout to the staff, who are not only welcoming, but extremely friendly and are more than willing to help with anything the customer needs. My father lives nearby this venue and I visit regularly when I have a uni break from overseas. I never knew my appetite could be this expand until we decided to go to the girl house again. I ate so much and the food was beyond delicious and prepared. Can't wait to come back home and try this again.

Well situated at The Firs and quite very popular amongst the tourists. Everyone was raving about their Ribs and I had to try them being the foodie I am. <br/><br/>Honestly I don't care about the sides, I had Chips and Vegetables which I both did not like, the vegetables are too oily and chips dry. Lets talk about the Ribs though, yummy! The ribs were cooked well and flavoured well, they were tender and juice. Your first sight at them makes you want to dive in. <br/><br/>The second time we went there we decided to try the chicken not forgetting the ribs. 🙈<br/>I'm never ordering chicken from this place again sorry to say. The chicken was dry and not tasty.

My friend Andy treated me to this insane flavour fest! What a treat. It was like Channing Tatum was bumping and grinding on my tongue, but even more 'Magic'. We had the fillet on the bone, pepper encrusted (Freud is not yet dead). Mary! It was one of the best steaks I have ever tasted in my life, and I have had my fair share of beefcake, lemme tell ya! <br/><br/>My tastebuds got the full spa treatment tonight. Everything, literally everything, was delicious! The steak melted in my mouth in a way that made me redefine the cliché as a realistic descriptor rather than an example of hyperbole. It actually did melt, for realzies. In fact the overused description is putting it mildly. It was the most flavoursome fillet I've ever had (I usually opt for rump or sirloin if I want to savor the flavour selecting a juicy piece of beef). The creamed spinach inspired more than just the spinach feeling creamed, and the cheesecake was moist and fluffy. So fluffy I could die! I had it with ice cream and BarOne chocolate sauce and can now confirm that Belinda Carlisle was right, heaven truly is a place on earth. The only mini-micro gripe I had was that the decaf cappuccino I ordered was just as teensy as my gripe, I like a big ole cuppa joe not an espresso sized coffee and foam,but everything else was stellar. Oh, and this place is prime husband-hunting grounds. Titilating cuisine coupled with tittivating surroundings. Yum! Thanks Andy!

The service here is about average however the food is very good. The complimentary bread is freshly baked and satisfying. Had the steak with mash and a mushroom sauce - excellently prepared. It's on the pricier side but always good when you want a great steak.

On the few occasions I've ventured through the svelte doors of The Grillhouse I've always been impressed. The service is first class and the food sumptuous.<br/>I've not been disappointed in a single meal there. Butcher Shop has work to do.<br/><br/>Only 4.5 because I do think that you can get similar quality at slightly cheaper prices. But as a whole difficult to beat The Grillhouse. Love it's classic theme and dark colours. Makes you centre on the meal in front of you. Definitely worth the visit.

If I thought I loved beef before, I was in a puppy love romance until I walked through the doors to The Grillhouse and truly experienced the l o v e of beef.<br/><br/>With a rather large group of 8/9 of us we all ordered steaks.. Duh! My chosen cut of the cow being a medium rare marinated t bone accompanied by creamed spinach and vegetables.<br/><br/>It was absolutely delightful, I don't know whether because we were 3 bottles into the Beyerskloof Pinotage or because that meal was the absolute bomb dot com. <br/><br/>Service was amazing, struggled with our accents but we got there in the end. Safe to say when I roam the supermarket chillers and I spot beef I'm transported to a place 12,000km away. Made my first time in SA that much more memorable

An absolutely beautiful steakhouse. <br/><br/>Last night I ordered a 200g fillet with a side of steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes, accomplished by a seductive mushroom sauce. Let me just say what a wonderful experience it was. <br/><br/>When in Johannesburg I feel like it's a crime not to indulge in red meat, and if you were only there for a night and had to choose a place, this is the one. Hardly ever travel to Rosebank but this place stood out on zomato. Went with the steak because this is a grill house. Rump is not my favourite cut of meat but opted for the 250g pepper covered steak. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare and I coupled it with a thick and creamy mushroom sauce. The side garden salad was a large portion. What stood out for me is that the waiters were impeccably trained; from clearing the table to pouring wine to their knowledge on which wines pair vest with foods, I was impressed. Tried their creme brulee for dessert and the only mistake I made was sharing it with my friend. It was delicious.

After being away from South Africa for 7 months and travelling 27 hours to get home, this is the first place I went to for a proper South African fillet - and it was all worth it. Best fillet !

The food was good - well prepared and flavorful. Not one soul complained. <br/><br/>The peri peri chicken livers must be the best I have ever tasted! Just the right amount of spicy. I love them. <br/><br/>The desert was absolutely yummy - could have had those chocolate brownies all day! <br/><br/>I guess a large group of people at a place like this is not really ideal - the somewhat disappointing service is evidence of that. The waiters tried but could not keep up or keep track of all orders and requests.

I took my friend who is Visiting South Africa to get taste South African food ! <br/>He absolutely enjoyed the steak and lamb cutlets <br/>He ordered the grill house platter so that he can taste a bit of everything with pap Chakalaka . <br/>I had fillet on the bone it was good as well .<br/>The complementary bread they serve at the grill house is to die for ! <br/>I enjoyed the sautéed mushrooms as well. <br/>Definitely a must try if you in the mood for good steak !<br/>Service was good ! Undoubtedly the best steakhouse I've been to. Service was excellent and food outstanding.<br/><br/>We started off with beautifully fresh Namibian oysters before having their speciality steaks. I opted for a fillet on the bone, basted in barbecue sauce which was absolutely divine, whilst my partner loved his ribeye with garlic butter sauce.<br/><br/>I loved their art deco furnishings, low lighting and black and white images of New York - classic and timeless.

One of the best steakhouses in Johannesburg. It would be a sin to come here for anything else but steak! It's a no fuss place and steaks come with the good ol' spinach and butternut veg on the side. (Other sides are available of course). Choose your cuts and your basting or sauces. I'd recommend just having their house basting, as a good steak should never be drowned out by sauce. Their steaks are always cooked to perfection and the fresh complimentary bread has become something I always look forward to. The restaurant setting reminds me of an old style but upscale American diner, with its leather booths and dark interior. Good service with waiters being just there when you need it. Booking are recommended as this spot is popular with business lunches and dinners. Their next door neighbour, Katzys, is part of the same establishment and makes a great place for after dinner drinks with live music on the weekends.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! Went here for a post Valentine's day dinner, and unfortunately because it was a surprise based on cuisine we felt like we hadn't made a reservation. However we were escorted to the beautiful bar area and even though we waited for a while it was definitely worth the wait! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. We were well looked after and our waiter checked in frequently to see if we needed anything else or if we were still happy. The decor is also very cozy and steampunk like to an extent, with old artworks and portraits on the walls, with deep, dark coloured woods and comfortable seats. I can definitely understand why this restaurant would make it onto the list of one of the top restaurants in Johannesburg. We had snails for starters with the complimentary bread, which was delicious (and I'm not a bread person at all so you must know), we shared the seafood platter and finished off the evening with a lovely chocolate and caramel tart. Cannot wait to visit here again!

Enjoyed an impromptu dinner with a friend on a Friday night. They put us in the outside courtyard as we didn't have a booking which was fine. So I do recommend booking if you want to sit inside and enjoy the full experience of the dark wood interior with its luxurious atmosphere. <br/><br/>The tempting bread roll they bring you is not to be missed. Fresh and warm the butter simply melts into it. <br/><br/>The beef cappaciou, drizzled in olive oil and topped with rocket, parmesan shavings, black pepper and capers is the perfect starter for two. It's generous and delicious. <br/><br/>I enjoyed the wild mushroom fillet special served with spinach and mash topped with a wild mushroom sauce. It was lovely, meat done medium rare to perfection. The sauce is what made for me. A rich sauce with different mushrooms in was flavoursome and perfectly complemented the meat. <br/><br/>With the roll and cappaciou starter I only ordered the 200g fillet and it was more than ample. I could not finish the mash. <br/><br/>My friend enjoyed the fillet on the bone. Just as excellent and worth a try. Ordered the mushroom sauce as a compliment and while it was nice it came no where near to the wild mushroom sauce with my fillet. <br/><br/>Good service and friendly staff. As mentioned earlier book to to ensure inside seating so you can get the full rich experience of the ambiance, leather and old school gentleman's club vibe. <br/><br/>

The steaks at the Grillhouse are without a doubt delicious! Well cooked and a perfect taste of a South African. It can get pricy, but worth paying for the quality. The service was efficient, however our waiter seemed continuously distracted - maybe we just happened to get him on a bad day.

Met a couple of friends over here for a catch. I must say that the food is really good but I'm not convinced it's the best it could be. This place could be a solid 4 if the waiter didn't continuously forget our orders and the marque outside (Katzy's) didn't almost collapse on us.

This is a steak experience that never disappoints. In the style of an American gourmet steakhouse, they put on a good show and the meat is always excellent. A little pricey, but for a business dinner or spoil with your spouse, it's a safe bet.

This is one of those old-fashioned steakhouses with elegance and style to boot. It's a Rosebank institution. The management is excellent and ensures this place runs like a well-oiled machine. Staff are efficient, friendly and seem to know exactly what their customers want before they've even asked for it! The menu is as you'd expect it to be - with a few local tasters added - this is where many bring their overseas visitors to experience SA culinary delights. Try not to overdo it on the delicious bread and butter that's presented to your table on arrival. I don't know what they put in that stuff but wow!!! It's a winner! I've had various things off the menu, steak, beef ribs, lamb and all have been excellent. Their mash is amazing and the chips too are very moreish!! The creme brulee is an absolute must!! Double the size of what you normally get, it's simply heavenly!! <br/>This isn't somewhere you go when you're watching the calories. Just get stuck in and enjoy the experience!

The best restaurant in the world<br/><br/>Quite a bold statement I know, but it's true. At least in my years of dining out (42) and countries visited (more than I can remember).<br/><br/>I would love to hear from someone somewhere that has eaten here and eaten better. The meat is aged to perfection, tenderised so that even the rump is as tender as a fillet. The fat isn't gristle, it tastes like a rich salty gravy in solid form. The pepper crusting or basting doesn't detracts but acts as dynamite for the flavour to burst forth. Fries are crisp, not a hint of grease. And the peri peri sauce is hotter than the surface of the sun.<br/><br/>Waiters are professional and efficient. The feel of the place is like a gentleman's club with interesting and individual decorations that you feel all have a story attached to them. The wine list is extensive and complements the richness of the steak perfectly. And moreover if you're lucky enough to be paid in a currency other than rands, it's a bargain. <br/><br/>If hostile aliens invaded earth, find their leader, take them to Grillhouse, get the a bit tipsy on a Meerlust Rubicon, and treat them to a basted fillet (medium rare). The alien hordes would leave in peace, Hollywood would make a movie of you, and it would likely be the start of a wonderful intergalactic alliance.

The Grillhouse in Rosebank is a firm favourite venue for sophisticated work lunches. I must admit the only times I have ever eaten here is when I am invited by my company. The food and service is great, strange as it sounds my favourite thing about coming to the Grillhouse is the delicious bread they serve you when you sit down. On my last visit I had a calamari starter which was nice and and tender and for main I had the pepper crusted fillet on the bone which was well cooked and very tasty. Although not my absolute favourite steakhouse around this restaurant is definitely amongst the best in its class.

I had always heard about this place and today one of my suppliers invited me to their end of year do. The food was good, considering that there were many groups and did not have to wait too long. Good portions were fantastic, many had 'take home bags.' The staff was reasonably friendly but the management was superb! The waiters could learn a few lessons.

Busy, busy, busy especially at this time of the year with huge tables doing the Xmas party thing. But we waited at the bar (also busy - no seats available) and the manager bent over backwards to seat us ASAP. We waited longer than usual for our food; dry-grilled kingklip (excellent) and king prawns although don't trust the classification - in my day, these were queens - but they were delicious nevertheless. Silly to eat fish at this restaurant. Eat steak. It's generally outstanding! And we liked our waiter Everest's sense of humour! And don't eat the bread! It's evil. You will finish it and there goes your low-carb diet! Fabulous wine offerings (although we brought our own - Hartenberg The Stork, 2008. Wow!! I think I've had too much 🙄)

Been coming here for ages and the standard never drops. Food is great and you can order just about any piece of meat and be happy with it. Service is good and friendly. Only problem that I have is the management. They fault the staff in front of the patrons and I think this is unnecessary.

My daughter turned 18 and asked us to take her to the Grillhouse. Now being very loyal to another steak restaurant I have to admit, The Grillhouse, make me feel very fickle, very fast. <br/>We were welcomed in a warm manner and seated at our table. We were brought sweet bread and butter, yummy and my tummy must have known there was better to come. Now I have never ordered anything larger than a 200gm steak at any steakhouse but I was scared that sitting in a restaurant with such great atmosphere and awesome service that I would miss out on something, so like the old story of the dog with a bone looking into the water, I jumped in and ordered a 450gm T-Bone (never ever ordered a T-Bone in a restaurant, and please note the size. Yip more than twice the size)<br/>My daughter ordered a 750gm, and hubby a 300gm Fillet. <br/><br/>Steak was done to perfection, and someone please explain to me why I have never ordered this particular cut before. I had a Greek Salad which was crispy and to die for. Daughter had mash potatoes, soo good I can't even begin to explain.<br/><br/>Give this restaurant a go. I can imagine they would have to try damn hard to disappoint. And to our waiter, you warned me about how hot the sauce was, well next time, and there will be a next, and a next and a next, I will listen to you.<br/><br/>Thank you The Grillhouse for the best meal in have ever had.<br/><br/>P.S. Thank you for the ice cream and chocolate sauce with sparkler for my daughters birthday, nothing like seeing your 18 year old look like a 6 year old twinkle in her eye.

Warm & hearty food served here! <br/>We ordered the boerewors for starters, along with chicken livers & it was mind blowing. Cooked to perfection, not oily & very juicy. <br/>The table bread was fresh and warm, the butter just melted onto it. <br/>My mouth is watering as I'm typing this thinking about this delicious & delectable meal. <br/>For main course we shared the BBQ pork ribs along with an order of chips and the usual side veggies, spinach & butternut. <br/>The ribs were amazing, not too sweet for a BBQ sauce and not too fatty for ribs either! The spinach above all Blew my mind! This is mostly due to my immense love for veggies. It was not the usual creamed spinach, the spinach was grilled and seasoned perfectly. <br/>Overall a lovely dining experience! <br/>

What a great steakhouse. Starters were delicious, I had the grilled haloumi which came with a jam (I think it was jam). The combination of the two was all so yummy. Oh, and that freshly baked bread is to die for, I kept going back for more. I ordered the fillet on the bone (spiced, not basted with marinade) and it just melted in my mouth. Serving portions are very very generous which I appreciated as I could take the other half home to enjoy with a fried egg the following morning. 😃

Service was good. Bread was tasty but not warm. Fillet was well season and cooked well. T bone was done well however the prices don't make it well worth it in comparison to other restaurants to serve grass and grain fed steaks whereas Grillhouse only serves Grain fed steaks

It's definitely a place to checkout! The service, food and ambience is on point. The bread alone is amazing. I had the peri peri chicken drummettes for starters and the cheese burgers for main. I have no complaints at all, truly enjoy it!

Best fine dining 'steakhouse' around. I doubt you'll find a better cut of meat anywhere in Gauteng - their fillet-on-the-bone has to be one of their flagship dishes. Apart from the awesome food, the service and ambiance are really fantastic.

The reason the grillhouse is getting a 3.5 and not a 4 is due too my last two meals, steaks were very bland however it has always been my top steakhouse and hopefully it was just a bad couple weeks as previously they are absolutely brilliant

Very rustic and awesome place. Love old feel of leather and wood and the food is amazing. I had the ostrich fillet which was absolutely heavenly. This was paired with some divine red wine. This made my birthday dinner absolutely special.

Grill house is beautiful beautiful restaurant to go with a group of friend or a couple.The t-Bone stake with mushroom sauce is simply amazing.Bit noisy tho cause the table are very close to each other but apart from that it's a place definitely go.

Love the old school feel of this restaurant. We came on a Thursday and the place was full yet service remained excellent and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered steaks with a variety of sides and I ordered Scottish salmon. My salmon was perfectly cooked and my sautéed mushroom side was generous and had amazing flavour. The wild mushroom steak sauce is a winner. We had to return one steak as it was undercooked but this was quickly remedied and everyone enjoyed their meals. The steaks were excellent and worth the wait.

I love the dimly lit, leather and wood theme of The Grillhouse. It has that old school Boys<br/>Club feeling that makes you want to smoke a cigar, drink red wine and eat red meat. Service is excellent and this is a great venue for a work function if you're allowed to break the bank. But for your own pocket - there is much better quality steak down the road...<br/>

I fail to see they hype of this place. Went last week for our anniversary dinner. The place literally turns tables, once your food is ordered it arrives like it's ready made and they just keep it warm. We both had fillet for main course, my partner had to send hers back as it didn't even look like a fillet and was over cooked and cold. You feel completely rushed and we got stuck into a tiny room behind the pub which is also very noisy. Seems they continue to live on their yester year food and service. It seems the place thrives off tourists who are in and out and probably will never return. I reckon there are far better places for a good steak than the Grillhouse and far better value for money.

It is ever so satisfying when you crave a good steak and get exactly that !! I cannot fault anything here. Food is fantastic as always. Service impeccable! We had a great time and the best steaks and lamb cutlets. I also think the food is great value for the price you pay and the quality you get !! Unfortunately I did not have enough space left for the new york cheese cake but I will be back for you! I will happily eat here any day of the week !!'

Went for lunch over the weekend.  It was very busy but we could find a table.  I was extremely cramped inside, I definitely feel that some of the tables are too close to each other.  My husband and I could barely hear each talk.  Our waiter had somewhat of an attitude and did the basic bare minimum, it was almost as if he was doing us a favour.  My son had the soup which he liked very much.  My husband had the rib eye which he asked for medium rare and it came well done.  My husband never ever complains in a restaurant so he just ate it.  If I was paying the bill I would have sent it back as for that price I expect what I ask for.  I had the fillet.  Frankly it tasted of nothing.  The chips we had with it was 'ok'.  I also had the snails which were severely overcooked.  The food although the restaurant was very busy came out quite quickly.  It wasnt very enjoyable with everyone packed like sardines, you not being able to hear yourself talk and then being disappointed by the food.  I expect a lot, a lot more from this place.  I wont be back as Im not willing to take another chance and ending up paying a huge amount for below average food.

Was here the other day for the first time in a few years and the standards are still impeccable. Everything from the service to the food is absolutely amazing. We were a table of 9 and all our dishes were cooked to perfection and served quickly. I had the fillet on the bone and it was the epitome of perfection. The prices are definitely high but for the best steak in Johannesburg I feel it's worth it if you're planning to treat yourself.

There is definitely a reason that The Grillhouse has such a good repuation, and why they are always so busy.  And I almost don't know how to start this review... The Grillhouse exceded my expectations, and was simply spectacular.<br/>The service was very good, specially considering we were a rather large table, and a rather loud bunch as well. The waiter we had on the night was very well spoken, and knew what he was talking about. He was able to easily recommend meals, and speak about the different dishes with ease. The specials were given, and most of the table ordered different things. All the food was brought out together, and none of the orderd were messed up. The drink flowed the whole time, and there wasn't ever a time when you had to try catch the waiters attention to get any service.<br/>The food was something else entirely. No one at the table had any complaints, and all the different cuts of meat were cooked exactly as requested - And the vegetable side was delicious.<br/>An absolutely stunning place, and most definitely worth it...

Very disappointing, spent R4500 on dinner and went next door to their establishment Katzys. Was asked to pay R150 entrance fee. When I said I just spent R4500 at Grillhouse, I was basically told tough luck. I went to the manager at grillhouse at he nonchalantly said - "that's the way it is" . Think I will support another steakhouse going forward. Sad thing that it won't make a difference to them... Anyone else experience this?

The Grillhouse, Rosebank- there is something so special about this restaurant. We dined here Tuesday 26th July for our anniversary, and I am entirely glad that we chose The Grillhouse! We were treated like royalty from the moment we were greeted, to the moment we left. The service at the Grillhouse is absolutely phenomenal. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and more than once, our plates were cleared as if by magic- one moment they were there, the next, the were gone! The ambiance is just right, and the decor is tasteful. The wine and spirit list will ensure that everyone's tastes and preferences are satisfied. Our steaks were absolutely perfect. But the dessert... Chocolate brownies with ice cream, and malva pudding with custard. I thoroughly enjoy dessert, and I can safely say that I have never tasted malva like that before.  Enormous thanks to the Managing team and Staff of The Grillhouse- most definitely an anniversary to remember!

We went there for a friend's farewell and as always the restaurant is full - which is definitely a good sign. The Mediterranean platter was great and everyone enjoyed their steaks with veggies. The baked cheese cake was delicious and definitely a must have!

I was recommended this place by a friend,,,, although the Fillet is good it is not amazing. You leave feeling like youve paid a lot for a steak. Where as a place like Kong in Fourways you don't remember what the price was because the steak is that good and worth whatever they charge for it. If you want a top class steak I would head for Kong. <br/>The managers were very accommodating and friendly but the waiter had the cheek to complain that his tip was not enough.

The staff and mangers are friendly and very attentive. <br/><br/>Love the complimentary bread that they serve. I mean, how can you not love freshly baked bread?! The fillet with wild mushroom sauce and lamb shank from the specials menu was delicious. Overall a great place for excellent steak!
