Currently the best pizza in JHB , look forward to the new menu . Also probably the best wine by the glass list in JHB and overall great wine list, you have a winner here James & Robyn
My second time here, both times were wonderful, the foreign guests I had with me tonight declared everything excellent. The food is scrumptious, the cocktails and wine wonderful, the staff diligent, and friendly. The only possible criticism is that we found ourselves much too full to try dessert, but there is always next time :)
We stumbled upon this restaurant by mistake but what a delight! Firstly, the decor is stunning with exposed brick and craft lighting. The service was awesome. We were served and checked up on. The food arrived really fast too. The duck ravioli was creamy and decadent. But the pizza was the real start. Nothing beats real wood oven pizza. Cannot wait to go back and try the calzone version

My Wednesday morning breakfast hangout. Try finding another place that serves up farm to plate food, at such incredible value you for money. I'll wait. Have the Il Contadino breakfast, it's superb.
Great food that is on the more affordable side when it comes to trendy Joburg north restaurants. Great vibe whether you are seated inside or outside. Friendly staff - would recommend.
Wow!!! This is my favorite restaurant, EVER! Officially at the top of my list. Can't wait to go back. We went on Saturday, the food didn't take more than 10 minutes after we ordered. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered the crumbed chicken with creamy napoletana sauce and the chicken alfredo - WOW! Perfection! We enjoyed every bite. Will definitely be going back all the time.
Brilliant! I’ve been meaning to try Il Contandino for a while and I was quite chuffed that a party of 7 decided to join me because I had ample opportunity to sample everything! The ambience is amazing; it is loud, it’s very Cape-Towney and more importantly it’s well lit. Small tables though but that’s standard for Parktown.
The starters were nice. Bruschetta and the Zuchini Flowers were the clear winners.
The mains were GREAT. Love the portion sizes (literally a full bowl of Pasta), the Pizza’s were fully loaded and the Risotto was on point. The big bummer was the Chicken that they have on special but then again who orders Chicken at an Italian place and expects to have their needs met.
Dessert at this place is a bit of a show stopper. The Lemon Tart and Brownies were well presented and were enjoyed by the whole table.
Random fact about the place which I noticed is that they happen to be one of the three restaurants in the whole of Joburg that stock Fable Mountain wine; so if you’re a fan of great wine; order yourself a glass of the Fable Mountain.

Beautiful fresh food with superb flavours. Homemade pasta and all ingredients organically grown. Interesting cocktail menu. Excellent service. Highly recommended.
Recipes are very basic, but delicious. Service wasn’t great but good enough, but that might have been because it was late afternoon and the lunch crew was tired. Very interesting cocktails. Great coffee art! :-) I do intend to come again.
Very nice breakfast in a relaxed setting. Portion sizes spot on and packed with flavour. Service could be a bit more attentive, but all-in-all a good experience. Will be back for lunch/dinner!

Visited il Contadino on Saturday evening, I have to say, everything was on point. Booking was painless and quick and the manager Thapz called the following day to confirm. The Manager on the night, James was very friendly and attentive, gave us detailed descriptions of the specials. Our waiter Henry was very friendly, attentive, not in anyway intrusive, and we never waited long for anything. We had the Carpaccio starter to share, which was well balanced and generously topped with shaved Parmesan. Mains were generous and mouthwatering, had the signature Wild Boar Ragu(perfection in a bowl) my girlfriend and mother inlaw had the Wood Fired Lamb and Oven Roasted Pumpkin, everything was Delicious. To end the night we had beautifully plated and perfectly balanced Vanilla Panna Cotta with Plum Ice cream & Spiced Plum Reduction and the Belgian Chocolate Ganache with Bruleed Croissants. Not Hard to see why its still fully booked a year in. Well Done!!
