Outstanding, Outstanding, Absolutely the best meal in 12 days of being in South Africa. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked, could cut with a fork tender, and no fat or waste. Great drinks and desserts. Michael the server was wonderful!

We had an awesome time, we were welcomed in by the friendly staff at the entrance. Our waitress was Fezile and she kept on checking us, our orders were as requested. She was friendly, professional and helpful. Our mixed grilled orders were big portions, we ended up taking doggy bags. Our cocktails were really nice. I ordered Dom pedro and there wasn't much amarula, I had it replaced without me paying for the extra one. It was warm inside the restaurant and everything was perfect for us. We got moved to a table outside and it was still nice and warm. I would definitely recommend the Grillhouse.

If you need or are looking for some very good meat, THIS IS THE PLACE. My wife ordered a ribeye steak and it was delicious 👍 If you are one of those like me, that loves meat WITHOUT fat, bones and stuff. Then take the Fillet 500g and let every bite go slow, let the mind and body get the taste of some insanely well cooked and beautiful meat. Don't forget the 'Pepper sauce' Best meat I've tasted in South Africa 👌

This is a one of famous restaurant for steak. They have many outside seats, so you can enjoy meals casually.

Excellent service from the server, keep tidying up the table and check out needs, foods and drinks are at a reasonable price, a good idea to try S.A. red wines, the quality is not bad

Absolutely loved the service here, beautiful atmosphere. Delicious food and tasty drinks. Our waiter was amazing and so attentive and caring. The place is so chilled and clean. We definitely enjoyed our Sunday lunch date.

The restaurant was empty when we arrived but we were told that they are full due to weekend reservation. We told them that we will only take 1 hour maximum. Finally we were led to a table and made our order. The restaurant is nice and food is very average.

The Grillhouse definitely knows how to treat their patron's because from the minute we entered we were welcomed with a smile until we left. The staff are very friendly and helpful and welcoming. Their food is out of this world, you can tell their food is well cooked and prepared. Even their drinks they are mouthwatering. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for quality food and chilled environment...

Extremely popular, and for good reason. Well priced, great portion sizes and dishes always pack the signature Grillhouse Flavours. Tends to get a little loud, so wouldn't recommend for date nights, but amazing for any other occasion. An award winning wine collection and some decent whiskeys make this the perfect all in one. Recommend any steak with their pepper sauce, and be sure to ask for any special cuts. The lamb shank is killer.

With love from Miami Florida. Solo female traveler in JoBurg for a few days just arrived from Dubai. This restaurant was situated right next to my hotel Marriott Melrose Arch. Came recommended by hotel front desk staff. The hostess had the bubbliest personality. She didn’t have a table for me as a walk up but promised to have one ready in 45 Mins which she did. Only negative I didn’t have any cloth napkin so I had to ask and was given paper. Not enough to make me feel bad. My service was offered by a wonderful woman Elizabeth. I gave her permission to make dinner recommendations for me. I’m happy to report I enjoyed all options especially the Stellenbosch Cabernet. I’ll be back for the ostrich medallions. Wasn’t brave enough to try that yet.

Honestly had the most amazing experience here last night. Decided to tell my girlfriend I love her for the first time last night. Just asked for a small favour to write “I love you” on the plate. Well let me tell you the manager Kelly went above and beyond! She organised a very cool introduction with writing on a paper once water was placed on it followed by a beautiful I love you message with the dessert. Let’s not even mention her going to go get a bouquet of flowers. Without even needing to ask the team went above and beyond. 12/10 recommend!

Service with smile. They genuinely care about their customers. Steak on bone is one of the best steaks I have had after a long time. Best wines and by glass to go with your steak. Thank You all for a wonderful and memorable evening.

The service @ this restaurant is exquisite which is why I keep going back 😀. I also like the ambience, not to mention the food!!! Their steak is so tender, even their healthy chicken breast is so juicey & their veggies take the cup for me, ever so fresh & crunchy. Their sauces taste great, they don't have that artificial powder taste I hate.🙏 My niece loves her vegetarian cottage pie, she says it tastes "meaty" 🤣🤣 I've been to other Grillhouses but this one remains my favorite.😍

One of the best meals I had and I been travelling for 15 years trying food all over the world . I had rib eye ( medium rare) with creamy spinach . They have a good selection of steaks and also sharing platters if you want to try few things at the same time . Wine was good and service was prompt even though the restaurant was packed . Kyle was an amazing host who recommended me the house specials and answered all my questions regarding the food and drinks. I even got to try Don Pedro which was a nice way to finish the meal if you got a sweet tooth . They also sell meat which is vacuum packed . Definitely a nice spot for lunch and dinner .

It was our birthday and a friend recommended we visit them, our reservation was made and we were welcomed well, they gave us bread as part of their culture which we really appreciated, Sherpard was our waiter and he made the experience so free and lovely. It was the 6 of us and woow what we ordered was great, everyone had a positive comment on their order, absolutely enjoyed my steak salad☺️☺️☺️, I highly recommend you visit them

1.The service was shocking. We arrived at 18.00 and were only served at 18.55, upstairs. 22/12/2017 2. I had to settle with a medium cooked warm t-bone steak instead of a burning medium-rare as ordered 3.The wife was served with a full portion of lamb chops when she ordered only a half. The extra two chops were removed from her plate with bare fingers and put in a polystyrene container and returned to the kitchen. Good luck to whoever ate them afterwards! 4.The waiter spoke so fast that we often had to request him to slow down and explain again. 5. We paid the waiter in cash with a reasonable tip (which he did not deserve) without receiving a "thank you". Good luck........

My parents had oxtail and they enjoyed their meal however I had ceaser salad and I must say I was pretty much disappointed, its like they just took leaves and threw them there and granted parmasen cheese, I had to look for my anchovies. For full portion/meal I was rather dissatisfied...

We ate there last night. Hubby had a fabulous steak. My son ate all the table bread and said it was the best he's ever had. Unfortunately my Caesar salad was very disappointing as it was lettuce, a bit of very dry chopped bacon and one lonely anchovy. However, the service was good and we had a great chat with the manager, on our way out, over the building pictures on the wall.

Amazing service and amazing steak! Nigel and Michel were amazing , wine glass was never empty, Nigel was attentive and always there. And when our friends left their jacket on the other table, Michel went running after them outside the place to catch them! Thank you for a great night!

Thank you to Sean and Alex for saving my anniversary! After a horrible experience at a nearby restaurant, we were treated like gold here with the most amazing service and the most amazing food! The kingklip was absolute perfection and the steak just to die for. 10/10 will definitely be back!

The food at the Grillhouse in Melrose Arch is fantastic. The quality of their meat is outstanding. Nothing beats their beef ribs! I have eaten here many times of the years and simply cannot get enough. More than just having great food- they have wonderful service. Our favourite waiter is a lovely gentleman named Shepherd. If you are lucky enough for him to take care of you, you are in for a real treat. A little bit on the pricier side, but nevertheless it is still an unbelievable establishment. Highly recommend for business dinners, date nights and special events. #beefribs #steakhouse

Just had dinner at The Grill House in Melrose Arch. It is a Sunday night. Service was shocking, slow, unfriendly and just bad. We ordered a salad to start which landed up coming after the mains. The manager was very apologetic and took it off the bill. The salad wasn’t great. The beef ribs were terrible, the sauce was horrible. The baked potato was very average. The ribs were actually warm not even hot. The pepper sauce that my friend had for his steak was disgusting. A very disappointing meal. I think the Rosebank branch is a lot better. Very disappointed

Service is really good. Love their steaks. It's my second time in the city and second time here too. They have a diversified menu, great ambience and tasty food

One of the best clean and friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff and the food was amazing. Definitely going back again. Went there for lunch after a very long day from my graduation. I really enjoyed my saddle Lamb chops and Rib Lamb chops🙌🏾👌🏾<br/>

Our waiter was friendly and the service was good. Ordered a fillet from the specials menu, was really good but the butternut was a little cold, everything else was great through

It is really sad to have to say that its not worth an anticipated visit. Drinks: the cocktails were just badly made. My advice, don’t offer something you are not good at. I’m a wine drinker but I enjoy a negroni upon arrival and it was good as it is a hard drink to mess up but my partners Long Islands were tragic even after a subtle complaint. The food: Below average, my rump was beyond horrible, I know, I know, rump is sinewy anyway bla bla bla but this was on some OTHER level, I really do appreciate rump steak for this flavor WHICH I didn’t even get to as it was like chewing cartilage. The butternut and spinach were under seasoned and basic. The service: Good, I was struggling to open a salt shaker and a waiter noticed from a far and came to help, I really liked and appreciated his vigilance, our own waiter was always there to make sure the drinks aren’t lacking however it was a late Sunday night (9:45) so it was rushed as they started packing with us and other tables sitting right there which I normally hate but in this instance, I understood. My recommendation: I’m half half really. I’d say, give it a go, try something else rather than a straight up steak (which is sad since it is the “GrillHouse” or don’t go. Either way you’re really not missing much.

The atmosphere was good, staff was friendly. Overall it was a really good experience. <br/>WARNING: if you are going to ofer the spatchcock chicken, make sure you come hungry!!!<br/>The hot towels at the end was a nice touch that I didn’t expect. <br/>The reason this place doesn’t get a five star was because one of the streaks were a tad over cooked. <br/>I would recommend this place to people who don’t want to be in a uptight environment but still impress friends and family.

Service was ok. If they are going to charge those prices then we expect the food to be good. Avoid the sad salads and overcooked veg. Very disappointing.

We spent a wonderful spring afternoon on the patio at the melrose arch grillhouse. The table had the mushroom fillet, pork ribs, salmon , lamb shank and ostrich - all of which were perfectly cooked. Michael was our waiter today- and he did a fabulous job making our afternoon memorable. <br/>We will be back!

Business lunch here was a great experience. Had the pepper crusted saddle lamb cutlets and colleagues had the 300g steak dishes. The wine pairing was perfect and the service was on point. We were in a massive hurry and the food arrived on time and was prepared to everyone’s spec. Awesome job guys.

The Grillhouse is a nice addition to Melrose Arch and is well located in the square. The ambiance was relaxed and warm and felt like you were in a steakhouse with the simple fine dining touches. There service we received for our table with family and friends was very good. We had an amazing waiter taking care of us on a cold evening. <br/><br/>There is a good variety of options on the menu for vegetarians - however it is a pity that there was no vegi burger available. Even though the prices on the menu seem high it is really not that bad (excluding wine per glass prices) as the quality of food and service you receive should justify it.<br/><br/>I will be back again in the future.

Eating at the Grillhouse is like staying at a Holiday Inn you know what your getting the standard is likely to be decent no matter which one you go to and the wine always awesome. They’re consistent

What a great ambience! Friendly staff and all round good service. Loved the food, myself and my boyfriend has a rump steak with chips and to top it off we had tiramisu. The whole vibe of the place is great and enjoyable!

Have been to the Grillhouse Rosebank a few times where the service is just awful.  In my opinion the Melrose Branch is much better.  I cant say that I like the decor that much, it feels a bit 'cold' and 'dark' but the service is very good.  My steak is always done to perfection, although I think they can improve on their chips as it does not really have any flavour, it might be the oil they use.  Their pepper sauce is delicous and the snails too.  The waiters seems experienced and know the menu well.  The portions are generous perhaps a bit too generous.  Love their onion rings but sometimes it is slightly overcooked. Definately dont like the fact that the outside area is being used as a smoking area which means we can never enjoy the outside space as we are not smokers. All and all I like going there just wished it felt a bit more 'cosy' but I think with all the glass doors that can be difficult to achieve.  Will definately be going back as so far I think they offer really good steak.

We had an amazing first experience at the Grillhouse! Our steaks were perfection to say the least and the service we received from Othue and Isaac was phenomenal- they were both professional, friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for a good steak.

I took my bf here last night for his birthday. We ordered steak with chips and i had a burger with mushroom sauce. I asked for a salad on the side and the salad was huge. Very impressed. The food came very quickly too. Steak was cooked perfectly. The only negative is the waiter mumbled and spoke quickly so we struggled to understand him. None of the waiters smile which is a bit sad. Also, once we asked for the bill, all service disappeared. We waited and waited for someone to come take payment. @iamGabriel Levy

Ok?so tonight it was the first time we have been to this Grill House,although we have been to their other branch before it closed many many times. So our table had steaks,schnitzel,burger, bean curry,calamarie, mash,salads,veg and chips. We had wine and beers and ciders. All the food came at the same time which I loved! We all found our meals tasty and of a high standard. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and Ari the manager was wonderful too. Thank you!

Visted the Grill House over the festive season. Lovely service, friendly and helpful staff. Steak was really cooked medium rare as requested and the accompanying sides were fresh and delicious. I ordered the ostrich cutlets - it juicy and done perfectly! Really enjoyed it and would order it again. Had mash and spinach on the side - felt that the side portion was far too big and the spinach was bland. Wouldn't opt for that side again. Wine list is also quite pricey. On a whole - good food and would return.

Visited here last night for dinner without a reservation and managed to get a table on outside deck. It the same classic decor of the original firs branch. It has the inside, upstairs and outside areas that make it a spacious restaurant. <br/><br/>The complimentary bread is delicious. We went straight to mains with the rib lamb cutlets and the peri peri spatchcock. Flavours and spiciness of the chicken were good. My lamb perfectly spiced and even though mash was not mentioned on menu I got mash. Service was on the ball. In addition the wine, drinks selection is impressive with a signation cocktail menu. Next time I will be having the steaks.

Brilliant service from Everest and the manager. Attentive and not overbearing. The food was really good. Not an extensive menu but the food is prepared really well exactly as ordered. One of my peeves is not getting the meat done the way I order it. Here every single meal was prepared to perfection. The sauces are also delicious. Will definitely recommend if you want a well prepared steak. The fillet on the bone, lamb chops and the chicken schnitzel were all faultless.<br/>Note: the only disappointment is the toilets are on an upper floor. Not convenient or great if you have mobility challenges.

I had the chicken schnitzel and tasted the fillet. Both were delicious! A highlight was the mushroom sauce. The New York baked cheese cake was a bit of a disappointment - the base was too sweet and the cheese cake wasn't sweet enough.<br/>

I've eaten a lot at the Firs branch, but the Melrose Arch branch is a great venue for sunny South African days! As always, the waiter was on point, super polite, super professional, but still with some personality to engage in some friendly banter. I ordered the ribs, and they were excellent as usual. My only complaint... the cappuccinos are served in real "Italian sized" cups which are really like two-and-a-half sips of coffee. I will be back!

The Grillhouse brand never ceases to disappoint! <br/><br/>The service remains impeccable and friendly, whilst the food consistent to a T in comparison to the other branches, and the perfect selection of wines.<br/><br/>I  rarely try something new from the Grillhouse menu and tend to stick to what i enjoy as don't eat beef often, but when i crave a beefy steak, off to the Grillhouse we go .... because it's the best!<br/>So med-rare fillet (basted) with mustard sauce, a fluffy baked potato with extra sour cream - delicious! My husband also had his usual, med-rare rump steak with monkey gland sauce and fries.<br/><br/>We were unable to get a table at our preferred branch (Rosebank), so at least we got to try this branch. I felt the space a little too open, and "naked". To me, it lacked a sense of intimacy which i feel at the Rosebank branch and the now closed Athol branch. But, we are there for the steak, wine and service. :<br/><br/>)

The food was top drawer, everything from the starters to the mains was absolutely amazing. 750g T bone paired with a pepper sauce on the side, ambiance of the restaurant was low lit with old school music on the background. This is one restaurant that has the capability of making anyone feeling important, to really enjoy yourself do not be cost sensitive here!🙌🏽💪🔥

What an awesome place to be. The Grillhouse is a cosy place and the atmosphere is just great. Waiters were always available and ready to offer their services. We had the chicken platter and the grillhouse platter. The chicken was too spicy for all of us but I guess we are just not into spicy food. I had the chocolate brownies and ice cream for dessert. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Today we had Ribs to share with fries and we thoroughly enjoyed them .<br/><br/>The Grillhouse has one of the best Pork Ribs in town , not fatty and they also meaty, the basting just works perfectly. I have tried the Ribs in all their outlets and have never been disappointed . <br/>We sat by the patio ; beautiful scenery, enjoyed the sunset, great ambiance and the service was good . <br/><br/>This has officially became my fav Grillhouse will sure be back soon . <br/>I love the fact that the kitchen opens the whole day that's jut a cherry on top ....

The reason we choose The Grill House is because it the closest to the jumping castle , I would be appreciated if we request a table outside and the waitress could tell us straight away if there is availability or not and not send us inside the restaurant so the Manager could arrange us a table. Overall the food is good and fresh .

The staff need a lot more training nowhere near the rosebank branch the steaks were ok the ribs were very good the meza was poor the oysters were not good but the desert was very good

Yesterday, I started my evening here and could not have been more impressed with The Grillhouse's new Melrose Arch offering.. <br/><br/>Interiors: <br/>Think well lit skylines, great views, an excellent use of space and their signature dark wood and leather booth interiors with an emphasis on comfort. I actually spent at least twenty minutes yesterday (before I sat down) walking around and photographing these beautiful interiors so I will let the pics do the talking.. <br/><br/>This, along with great steak (of course) and wine is what has given The Grillhouse a signature trademark in Johannesburg since 1995 but there is so much more..I have said this before and I will say it again.. What is not to love about great steak paired with a huge selection of fine wines (cognacs and whiskeys) in an upmarket atmosphere with stunning skyline views? I'm a fan of the grillhouse...so the more the merrier ;-)<br/>I think I visited this one in its first couple of days of opening...still got the fresh smell of wood. They still serve their famous bread. I opted for the fillet with blue cheese sauce and mash...made to perfection. I had the creme brûlée for dessert...their could've been a better crack in the caramel 🙈 So old great name but awesome new venue...works well together :-)
