We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Thava! It was fantastic the food was delicious the service was amazing! Vibin treated us to some of their signature dishes and they were sublime! Overall a great dining experience!
I went recently. I had some excellent food. I highly recommend Thava for those keen on South Indian and North Indian cuisine.
Thava Norwood never disappoints. Definitely my favorite curry restaurant. The food is amazing, price is affordable and the service is always perfect.

Whilst away on business I decided to take myself for an Indian treat at one of the top rated Indian restaurants! I ordered deep fried kale/spinach starter, salty lassi and a paneer dish. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The service was certainly five stars as the staff were all very friendly and I had a very enjoyable evening!
So when I visit a restaurant more than once, it's really to enjoy the same dish as my previous visit.....having said that, the masala chops breyani is particularly tasty, and you can choose your heat level...medium, hot, etc...their naan is quite good as well.
The ambiance is good, not noisy, some business dinners, some regulars....the quality and flavor of the food is consistent.
On my last visit, I tried the dessert and was pleasantly surprised to find deep-fried ice-cream....something different to the stock-standard halwa or rice pudding.The service was good...food preparation is a bit long, but the food is fresh, waiters are friendly and attentive...a great experience all round!
This was a great place. We had my grandfathers 85th Birthday party for 60 people at the function venue.Awesome atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service. Definitely a place to have a decadant meal or a great place to host a function. We will definitely be back.

Recently had my mom’s 60th birthday dinner there and I was glad I finally got to try out this hidden gem! Loved the great variety of Indian food... very flavorful and generous! There’s so much to try, we had a feast and I’ll definitely be going back there again! 😋😋
Looking for place to eat Indian we finally chose Thava for the birthday celebration .We started chicken starters which were flavoursome.Proceeded to have chicken tikka with garlic naan , chicken was tender and I loved lots garlic on the naan .Dessert was kulfi with masala tea ,tea was nice and strong . Service overall was friendly and welcoming ,starters delayed to get out but otherwise we were really happy with food and service here.Heat on dishes was catered to be less spicy
So glad I finally got to try out this restuarant since it is so highly rated. Very easy to find, good parking, lovely spot- owners are very friendly, staff are nice. We ordered the chicken samosas and dumplings for starters- excellent! Then the lamb and the chicken masala curries for mains with rice for two, again EXCELLENT. Will be back for more that’s for sure! Also had a take away dessert- these donut like balls with a syrup (unsure what they are called) but I’d definitely recommend them too :) keep up the good work!
This could well be Johannesburg’s top curry experience - from starters to mains. Difficult to pick out from so many favorites. And always consistent quality and extremely friendly and obliging staff. What more could one ask for!
It’s been a while since I’ve had a good paneer makhni - especially with the butter naan. Extremely good service - bonganj very amazing, very polite and great service !
