Wide variety in the grill menu backed up by excellent customer service! Went out of the way to rectify & make up for the chef errors in grilling correctly. Don’t see this level of customer service in recent times. Enjoyed the food experience!
I don't often give a 5 but it is hard to fault Turn 'n Tender. We have been here a number of times and I can honestly say that the service is always friendly and efficient, and more importantly the food and atmosphere is always GREAT!!!!
My favourite is any of the meat dishes with the Dianne sauce, which is not on the menu.
A wow experience everytime. Amazing food, staff and great atmosphere. They always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Definitely will be going back soonest. I would recommend it to any foodies out there.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere- it’s been busy every time we have dined here. Good consistent quality of food. Desserts are huge and so always end up sharing with the children.
Absolutely amazing dining experience ! Yesterday evening my partner and I went out for dinner at Turn n Tender Bassoina and we were thoroughly impressed . The ambience, food, service and over all experience was lovely. Make sure to book, if possible to get the best seating, as it tends to get full.
We came here for Sunday lunch and the food didn't disappoint. We had the squid heads (best I've had) and beef rib rashers. For main pork loins with Sweet potatoes and a rib and chicken combo. Cooked to perfection.
Service does need a bit of work but overall it was a pleasant experience
I’ve been here a couple of times. It’s me and my boyfriend’s special dining place. We love their grilled biltong, fillet with bordelaise sauce, ribs, chicken and their cocktails (of coarse). We have always had the best service and the food never disappoints.

If you’re looking for a brilliant dinner or Sunday lunch, this is the place. They have the best steak dishes (at least the best I’ve had). I do however they need to serve those starter breads and butter while we wait for our food. But I’m quite happy with the service and the dishes. They’re worth the price.

This is one of my go-to places. The steak is usually amazing and it has service to match. The menu selection is limited to meat... Which I like, but if you're looking for pizza and other such foods this isn't your place. They make meat and they make it gooood.

The serving staff here might just be some of the friendliest and lovely people I have ever had the pleasure of being served by.
They always go above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied with your meal.
So so well informed about the menu as well as all the specials.
The managers and hosts go out of their way to make a seating plan for you even on their most busy nights.
Food.
I don't think I'm the six hundred times I have been here I have ever had a meal that I didn't enough every last bit of!
Their steaks are cooked to perfection, if you ask for medium you're gonna get it, if you ask for blue you're gonna get it.
Their portions of sides are always more than generous and are every bit as delicious as the meal itself.
Ambiance.
Love the vibe here. They always have a great sound track playing and just the perfect volume to enjoy it but not so loud that you can't here each other.
I highly recommend coming her for any special occasion or if you in the mood for some amazing service and even better food!

One of my favorite restaurants as the food quality and preparation is consistently very good. The steaks are excellent especially with the bordelaise sauce. The waiters are knowledgeable on the menu and provide very good service. Overall food standard is exceptional!

I have been to the Turn 'n Tender in bassonia and have never been dissapointed with their service. This time was no exception.
The four of us shared, between two, the Cut for Two, 700 grams of meat - cut of meat picanha. Ordered medium rare. One was Pepper crusted and the other basted and as you will tell from the pictures both were was done to perfection!
Presented to the table whole on a board with the juices seaping out just inviting you to enjoy it. They cut it at the table to your preferred thickness. Served with your side of choice, we chose vegetables, mash, fries and onion rings among us. You also get a sauce with the meal. We each chose something different so we could share them; mushroom, barbecue, peri peri and Madagascan green pepper. The best was the barbecue and mushroom sauce.
It's a value for money meal that meat lovers will enjoy immensely. You leave feeling simply satisfied with a smile on your face.
We shared the lemon cheesecake parfait for dessert. Light and just sweet enough to close the meal off with something sweet.
The service as always was superb.

Known for their great steaks , Turn & Tender in Bassonia doesn't disappoint . My starter special of spicy sticky chicken wings basted in lovely peri-peri sauce was flavourful and well worth the price. Onto the mains .. both my wife's steak and mines was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent ! There are various lovely desserts to choose from , and the decadent chocolate sponge cake with chocolate mousse is a delightful treat . On the whole we had a lovely evening with excellent service from our waiter. The restaurant boasts a lovely vibrant atmosphere, and it's probably best to book especially if you plan going on a weekend. Definitely worth a visit !
Never really been disappointed here. It was the best place to go in southern Johannesburg until the Mall of the South opened with all its new restaurants. Still a local favorite with good cuts of meat as a standard. Somewhat expensive but worth it.

Went here for an office dinner and was super impressed, bar for two issues. I ordered the point rump with the paprika and brandy butter with a sweet potato. Rump was delicious and perfectly medium rare. The sweet potato was massive and really yummy. Two issues was supremely blunt steak knives so that I was hacking at my beautiful rump and secondly, in the middle of my sweet potato there was an entire rotten core, and due to being there with the office I didn't want to complain. The sweet potato up until the rotten part was really good though. I would not recommend there cappuccinos, it was way too hot and subsequently the coffee was burnt and bitter.
Turn 'n tender is always a great place to have a get together. The tables can easily seat any number of guests (and if you need more space, you are always able to move a table around). The service is efficient and the wait staff are friendly enough. Now for the food... The meat is prepared to perfection. If you ask for medium rare it's exactly what you want. The food is served hot and full of flavour while it's cooked and presented to order (love being able to pick between my food being served on a skillet or a plate). I've never left feeling hungry or unsatisfied. It's definitely worth a try (and multiple return trips).

Always heard about TNT and we brought someone for their birthday.
We had had their squid heads for the starter but also tasted the trinchado. Both were really delicious and flawlessly prepared. The portions were also larger than expected which was a nice surprise compared to other restaurants.
I had the 200g fillet with extra onion rings, and my girlfriend had their burgers. Again, both were delicious, well prepared and really filling!
Their milkshakes are also a winner so try them out.
Our waiter- Ray, was also very friendly, jokey and provided top-class service. I will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone in the area.
By far the best snails I have had in a long time. Portions are just perfect. Fillet on a skillet is a must so order medium rare and cook the fillet to the way you want it. Cocktails are exceptional and all in all priced competitively.

Great place for supper on a rainy night. The place is friendly and can be listed amongst some of the great fine dining restaurants in Johannesburg . Whilst there are few vegetarian options majority of the food is catered for non-vegetarians. The setting is vibrant and lively however the restaurant does not have the best of lighting but this may be the type of setting they are aiming for .
For starters , we had a salad , squid heads and focaccia bread. The salad was fresh and crunchy . The squid heads were crunchy and a great appetiser. The focaccia being the very best . The bread had a light puffiness and the rectangular shape made it alot more appealing. The food was served timeously and displayed of a flat plate with the food sizzling on the top. If you have an indian tongue like I do , the food may be too mild but this can be resolved using the chopped chilli and garlic . The food was tasteful and tender. Some highlight include : Pork Ribs and Calamari, Steak and Mash, Prawns, Deboned Chicken. The desserts are divine. You are shown a selection of desserts to make your decision simpler , however once you see that platter ,you may want to taste everything on it. My favourite was the red velvet cheese cake.
The service is impeccable. The waiters were friendly , helpful and attended to our every need. The managers and barmen were friendly too. Great place for a romantic dinner or celebrations . Definitely worth the price

If you have a rib craving, this is the place to go! I can't eat pork (intolerance) so I always get the beef ribs and they are so good. Many places only offer pork. This place is open, clean, and had agree at vibe. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only thing, be sure I book on a weekend.
Relaxed ambience sets the tone for a chilled dining experience. Great music in the back ground. Lovely atmosphere in the summer if you sit out side on the balcony in the evening... This is more an adult restaurant although kids are catered for. Steak excellent! Chicken really good! Also like that you can have steamed spinach instead of creamed.. Helps when you are watching what you eat but still want good tasting food. There salads are amazing. The whole menu is tasty. We eat here often. The waiters are always smiling and very friendly and the manager greets everyone.

My family and I, absolutely adore Turn 'n Tender in Bassonia. If you are a carnivore at heart and demand prime cuts of meat; Turn 'n Tender will satisfy your need to devour succulence. What I love most about this restaurant is that their ingredients are of high quality and all of their meals have a personal or signature touch such as the specialty combos that the four owners have crafted themselves. As they are four brothers, the way they run their restaurant is naturally embedded with a family orientated service. They have a knack whereby they combine dishes with sauces that simply burst with flavour, but at the same time still allows the meat itself to shine because there is nothing worse than having a sauce or garnish that overpowers everything else.
One of my favourite aspects about this place is that they have a balcony section that overlooks Bassonia which is perfect after a long week as the wind and fresh air simply soothes oneself.
Turn 'n Tender seamlessly creates an experience that appeals to those seeking fine dining or those that simply want a good old steakhouse classic.
I understand why this restaurant is always full. I always have a great experience here. The manager/owner greets you upon entry, they have charming waiters, the smoking room doesn't smell like a shebeen which was great cause I don't smoke. My salmon had this wasabi mayonnaise which was creamy and delicious with a little bite in the end, amazing! Really loved this experience. Truly a restaurant others need to go to.
WOW!! Very impressed great food and great service and a nice vibe. Took my girlfriend on a date night and we both felt like a nice steak, and I must say we were by no means dissapointed. For starters we had a biltong carpaccia to share which was light but tasted great. Then we both had a rump steak for main meal. Which blew us away. The servings were generous and tasted great. Both our steaks were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the staff were very professional. Yum!! If you want a steak this is the place to go! The staff are friendly and very professional, and the food was honestly heaven. One of the best steaks I have ever had. My boyfriend was so obsessed with it that when he woke up the next morning the first thing he said was : "Sho, that steak was amazing last night." A definite recommendation for all.

The service is on par and they have the best steaks around, very consistent with delivery excellent quality meat. Their Argentina style steaks are highly recommended for a reason and if you like marrow, try the bonalaise sauce topping.
Second time at T&T in Bassonia. Arrived feeling like a steak and boy we weren't disappointed. Service is great, waiters are knowledgeable and know menu items. The cheese and biltong focaccia is a must, light enough to substitute for a starter and tasty beyond words. A lovely wine list that caters for most tastes, we opted for the Reyneke Organic Shiraz Can Sav. Well aged and beautiful drinks my wine, easy enough for most red meat dishes. On recommendation, we tried the Picanha Rump for 2. A beautiful, tender and juicy piece of meat arrived with hot skillets to ensure out individual tastes were catered for. The meat was melt in your mouth accompanied by a pepper and mushroom sauce respectively. Anyone coming for a first time, try the Pichana, I highly recommend. All in all a great evening out and one for the return list.

This Turn 'n Tender always delivers. My partner and I shared a biltong and cheese flat bread and it was to die for, the point rump and sirloin steaks were a perfect medium, a generous portion of crispy chips and don't even get me started on the hot chocolate volcano.

My boyfriend loves this place and we've been there on many occasions. I just feel the need to compliment the restaurant on the level of service it gives its customers. From the doorman to the manager, everyone is welcoming, happy and friendly. The food is beyond... I love their combos and so does the giant. Ordered the steak and calamari combo and of course Thando's favourite, the steak and chops combo. I appreciate that the food is always cooked as I have requested because we are very particular about how our steaks should be cooked. Great spinach as well. I would visit this restaurant everyday if I could afford it.

I went to Turn and Tender for their lunch sirloin special last week and I was actually blown away!! The steak was done exactly how I like it. Often I ask for a rare steak which arrives medium to rare or even medium, but this time the steak was perfect! I ordered crispy chips which arrived again, perfectly! I ordered a side order of squid heads which were delicious!
The lunch special is fantastic food for a fantastic price!

I have recommended Turn 'n Tender to many of my friends and been there many times - pre Zomato days - however on my last venture there I was sadly disappointed.
My wife and I were craving for a good burger and didn't feel like driving out far nor did we feel like taking the easy route and go to Steers or McDonalds. We decided to go to Turn 'n Tender, they have great steaks so they should have great burgers.
Boy was that assumption wrong. Our burgers were tasteless and uninspiring - I sadly would have enjoyed a Steers burger more. Granted I wasn't expecting a masterpiece but was expecting more..
Will give them another chance and stick to their steak and ribs... Watch out for my follow up review on Turn 'n Tender

The first time i tried Turn 'n Tender was really a meant to be situation, It was a late Thursday afternoon and i was feeling for a steak and at the time i did not know there was a Turn 'n Tender right down the road.

However other plans were in store for my day, As i got down the road my car broke down and i had to call my mechanic who then said he could only be there in 2 hours, but What was this i see, a great big sign calling my name, saying come Nicholas seek refuge in my steak. And OH MY GREATNESS I'm grateful for that talking sign
The Restaurant is styled modern and sophisticated, a place you would take some special to, like your best friend that enjoys steak the way you enjoy it. the service is exceptional and all employees are dressed well and always have a smile to share.
i ordered a starter Trinchado, which arrived hot and cooked to perfection, it was Delicious and the sauce used really compliments the meat.
but when my 400g Fillet arrived for main, i lost all concept of time and emotion, my eyes began to tear and i had a lump in my throat, the aroma was astounding, it was the steak of my dreams.
It was cooked to a medium rare that i didn't even know existed,
the first bite already had me planning my next visit, the steak was tender and the the flavour was just right, not too harsh as to drown the natural flavour of the steak and not too little.
honestly the prices might look a bit hectic at first glance but for the quality you getting its not bad at all. This is definitely a place to try if you looking for great grills and a super steak

Had a date with my husband because we were both craving for steak. All I can say is wow wow wow. The steak was medium rare, soft and just melts in your mouth! Definitely recommend the cut for 2 Fillet. Comes with 2 sides and 2 sauces. Super worth it!

Love coming here for a really good steak! The restaurant is well laid out and looks very classy. The service is very good and the staff are well informed on the menu, and give good suggestions/recommendations of the selections and combinations available. This is always a good sign, as it sugggests that staff training is a priority. The steaks are awesome, I always opt for mine to be served perfectly on hot stone. Their sauces are so good, especially the brandy, mushroom and cream inhouse sauce. On the last two occasions, I have had my steak with pap and gravy. Yummy! I also always opt to sit on the sunny balcony.
Everything was perfect, from the booking right down to dessert. Our waitress Brilliant, was just that, brilliant 👏. The managers on duty were very friendly too and checked on us very often. Would definitely recommend this branch of Turn n Tender
