The owners welcome you in and the food is heaven. The best melenzane with no stint on the parmigiana. The panna cotta is soothing soul food! I’ve never had a meal that failed to please!
Ate at Ristorante La Trinita last night. First of all, if you have to book for a Tuesday night you know something must be good and it was fully booked when we got there. This mom and daughter owned Italian gem is fabulosity! The ambience is fun, friendly and cozy and it was warm inside... a must in Jozi at winter time. The owner is just amazing taking you through the magic of the menu with suggestions along the way. You get these little vetkoek type breads on the table, to die for and then the pasta..... I died and went to pasta heaven. Fresh, light, delicious and really reasonable. It's in Kyalami. We will be back for sure. Book before you go .
The best Italian restaurant in Jozi!!!!!! I love this spot!!!!
I have been to La Trinita 3 times and each time has been better than the last. I actually dream about the food. Simple, Italian food - fresh ingredients, uncomplicated and breathtakingly delicious. If you like lots of ingredients and complicated food - this place is not for you. If you enjoy simple, delicious food with simple ingredients like just pasta and sauce - this is the place for you. I highly recommend the gnocchi dolce latte (for cheese lovers) and melanzane. Chicken livers are also good. Lala, the owner and chef, takes the time to chat about the meals and will alter to your preference. Definitely a place to “try before you die”! Time for another visit.
This place is a 10/5. No need to look at the menu, let lala decide your meal. I am speechless about this place. In all honesty a friend has been telling me for ages to go there, but looking at the restaurant I always declined, oh how I regret not going there sooner. The food is insanely good, great service, great wine selection. Very well managed place. Dessert is amazing. My new go to place. Well done Lala
Ristorante la Trinita is small, homely family-run Italian restaurant nestled in a small center in Kyalami, Johannesburg. Your immediate first impression as you enter is that of going to enjoy a nice dinner at your favourite aunt - the owner and chest are very welcoming and friendly.
Food wise (as the name would suggest) is all Italian. The menu is filled with a variety of pasta dishes and pizzas. In my case, the special main dish of the day (3days cooked oxtail served with creamy polenta and steamed seasonal vegetables) was a winner. My wife absolutely loved the pasta dish -the taglioni la trinita which is fresh cooked tagliette tossed in olive oil, garlic and chilli and topped with bacon, mushroom and parmesan shavings.
Word of advice though - even though its not in a mainstream area, do make an reservation. They tend to get fully booked.
Service 4.5/5

Overall 4/5
If you're looking for a quaint, unassuming little spot with a romantic ambiance and great food, this is definitely it!
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were so glad that we did. The owner was lovely and made us feel very welcome and excited to be there. We ordered a veggie brinjal type starter and the seafood pasta and lasagne for mains. Every bite was delicious and service was speedy. We didn't have space for dessert as mains were quite large, but will definitely give it a shot next time.
Really awesome food and great service.
Complimentary bread sticks on arrival. The owner is amazing. She sat at our table and explained in detail all the pasta dishes and how it’s prepared- she makes all the dishes sound Devine. Food is very taste and well presented.
The panna cotta is the best I have ever had and a good portion is served.
Very good homemade pasta , we did try the tortelloni with salmon and the gnocchi with napoletana sauce and salmon , really tasty and creamish .. The service is always “Italian style” with Lala coming at the table to explain the best dishes of the day , she is very funny and super friendly !
Absolutely incredible restaurant. I feel like I am eating at home. The hostess and her mother welcome you as if you are part of family just coming over for a quick bite to eat. The food is absolutely sensational and big portion sizes. The place is filled with passion for food and family. Always spotless and excellent staff. You leave feeling satisfied and thinking of when you can come back.
An old favorite that regained a new level of excellence after a melanzane that surpasses anything I’ve had anywhere else. Perfectly balanced, piping hot, leaving you wanting more. Congratulations. And that is not the only dish to knock your socks off. Try the Gnocci! And the salads! And and and! Go treat yourself to an amazing home-style Italian meal!!!
