One of Hout Bays hidden gems. The Wagyu Beef Burger with Truffled Fries is sheer luxury hamburger heaven! The Bao Bar Counter space is a cool and intimate spot; great ambient music and super-friendly staff.. Love, love, love.
I love this place! Best pork ramen ever and the burger is to die for. Authentic and honest food.
Very impressive. Was there with a few friends and everything was just awesome...especially the attention to detail when it came to the food.Waitress called Cynthia was just awesome
Lucky Bao, a gem in the realm of Asian cuisine, seamlessly blends flavors to offer a delightful experience of tapas, bao, ramen, and burgers. Every visit is a culinary journey through deliciousness, with an impressive selection of tapas that never fails to impress.
The menu's diversity extends to the drink offerings, and the cocktails, in particular, stand out as masterfully crafted companions to the flavorful dishes. The combination of unique flavors and well-balanced drinks adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall dining experience.
While the atmosphere at Lucky Bao is generally pleasant, it's worth noting that during peak hours, the restaurant tends to face delays in service. When full, the wait times can be a bit extended. However, this minor setback is overshadowed by the vibrant ambiance and the quality of the cuisine.
The restaurant's commitment to delivering mouthwatering Asian fusion dishes is evident, making it a go-to spot for those seeking an adventure in flavors. Lucky Bao's only hiccup seems to be the pace when at full capacity, but for those willing to exercise a bit of patience, the overall experience is worth the wait. If you're in the mood for a culinary exploration with a side of great cocktails, Lucky Bao is sure to leave your taste buds delighted.
Cheyne's walk-in street food is no less flavourful and exciting than the main restaurant. With a simpler menu and easygoing atmosphere, Lucky Bao is a definite win!
Look out for the winter specials as well - absolutely top dining at a very reasonable price.
If your looking for a good solid Ramen, look no further! Bao buns are equally great !
Lucky Bao is much nicer with regards to menu, prices, atmosphere and food compared to Cheynes (which shares the same venue). Pity they cant switch the table numbers around and make more space for Lucky Bao. The Lucky Bao food is out of this world - my favourite Cape Town restaurant.
Cosy and relaxed atmosphere, with a small but versatile menu. Only seats 8 inside at the bar and a small table outside. The bao, ramen fried chicken and lucky dog are all excellent! Get a bunch of things and share with friends, so you can try as much as possible. Friendly staff, fantastic wine menu and very reasonably priced.
A very modern pub style Cafe to enjoy Asian street food. Very delicious bao. I had the duck bao and hubby had the pork in black fried rice. Delicious but a bit on the salty side for us. Would love to try their other interesting dishes.
Very good cocktails (try Wild Turkey Plum Sour & Passionate Buddha) and amazing food. We had bao buns with duck as appertizers (so so good), ramen burger and crispy chicken (super super crispy) as mains. The portions are sizeble and we couldn't eat everything.
Great little spot in Houtbay with awesome asian dishes, the decor is very nice especially the back garden. We had the bao’s - they were great (just a little bit on the smallish side) . Awesome vibe.
I stumbled on this undiscovered gem right in our neighboorhood. Everything was just so yummy. The waitress did an ok job, could have been better. However, the food more than made up for it. This was one of the best mouth-watering burgers I've had grace my taste buds in a long time. After my meal, I was knocked into a food coma. I would eat here every day if I could afford it!
