We loved our lunch at the Barefoot Cook. We received a warm welcome and attentive service throughout. The venue is beautifully decorated with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu was interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed a lunch special which came with a glass of wine. The food was fresh and delicious. The Barefoot Cook is definitely worth a visit!
Situated on Aberdeen Street, close to the town centre, this restaurant is certainly worth discovering. Anton is, without doubt, the best chef in Hermanus and your dining experience at this intimate courtyard restaurant will, I am sure, delight and surprise you. Whilst maintaining his success at the famous Fisherman's Cottage restaurant, Anton is now setting his creative culinary skills free with the menus at The Barefoot Cook. Go and enjoy.

Superb. Every bite was bliss. Cannot fault the meal. It was sublime. The restaurant itself is intimate and cosy. You feel immediately welcome and relaxed (as if you were in the comfort of your own home). The service is brilliant. Our waiter was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. A perfect experience. Would highly recommend.

Well made wholesome food and good service. We have visited this restaurant a couple of times over the last 5 years and the quality of the food and service have remained consistent. We love the unique and cozy setting of the restaurant sharing the space with a book shop.

Tranquil location hidden away from the hustle of Hermanus. Has the most amazing blackboard menu, great character and Anton (owner and head chef) is quite a character. Highly recommended! 🤙🏽
Amazing cappuccino for a very reasonable price. They didn’t have any pastries left by the time I went at 11am, so it is definitely recommended to go there much earlier if you want any of their freshly baked pastries. Really nice little shop with friendly staff!
Under new ownership, lovely garden space. The food is still great, they have stuck to the concept of really good seasonal food. Dessert is made in house, as are things like jams for teas etc. It's like visiting a old friend who is a incredibly cook. Great!
This is not dinner, this is an experience... wow! What incredible flavours and personalised service. Every bite was delicious and I never knew onion could be the star of a dish until eating here. If you are looking for a place of romance and something a little different, this is it- you will not be disappointed.

Great decor, ambiance, and service. Truly a great experience eating there. The waiter is highly educated on the meals, gives great inside info and advice on dishes, explains everything clearly and enthusiastically.
This place is always excellent. Lovely setting and the atmosphere relaxed. Food a fusion from different countries from chef Anton. Wine list from local farms is well chosen.
Wonderful, well priced food in the centre of Hermanus. Excellent host, who explained the menu well and gave helpful suggestions about our wine choices and also how to make the most of our drive back to Cape Town airport!
