Review Esther's Country Lodge - Hekpoort

Lovely place, so peaceful! Good for unwinding because there is no network in most parts of the property, and the WiFi also struggles 90% of the time. Close to hiking trails, well kept swimming pool and good food. Esther, her husband and Arthur were amazing hosts, and we always felt safe.

Awesome place! Great, friendly service from all staff. Neat and comfortable rooms. Owner/hostess Esther is an amazing and interesting person and made us feel right at home. We loved the time we stayed here and can definitely recommend Esther's Country Lodge to anyone.

We simply love the setting in the garden and the food and service was simply amazing. Loved the home made lemon ice cream. Prawns and fish was a bit dry and tasteless but what to expect from frozen seafood. Loved the rösti which is simply divine.

We went for Sunday lunch. Perfect setting, super friendly and efficient service, owners are hosting guests, food options wide and simply delectable starters, mains and desert, super delicious. Well worth the 50 min drive from Jhb, and terrific value for money. Memorable. Thank you Esther.

The food is amazing. Best oxtail and cremé brulé I have ever had in my life! Do yourself a favour and pop in at Esther's Country Lodge! Best food, great service in a peaceful, tranquil environment. You just want to stay and not leave.... You also have to try their homemade bread and their chocolate brownies and cream for dessert. Definitely going to go back again and also try out their accommodation next time!

Best Eisben we have had. Gammon and the sides were very good as well. Good service and the owners are quite welcoming and attentive. The garden setting is nice and tranquil.

Regularly visit the restaurant for good food, perfect coffee and friendly service.

Esther is a wonderful, accommodating host. The restaurant serves a delicious variety of food. Lovely to have supper there after a day of exploring. The breakfasts are huge and so yum. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are a very nice size, clean and modern. The location is also great being about 20 minutes away from different attractions.

My wife and I were happy except that they don't allow their staff to get tips.

Really high quality cuisine in a stunning country atmosphere. The gardens are magnificent, and the staff and owners are attentive and welcoming. Ester has the biggest smile I have ever seen. I enjoyed my grilled Panga with very tasty sides. The wine-list was good and the prices are very affordable for such fine food. We will definitely return.
