Beautiful service and the food is on point. Thank you to Gavin for turning us into future regulars. Lovely spot in GB. A must visit.
Beautiful views from top floor, fish and calamari was outstanding. One restaurant where you can order vegetables in stead of chips and get decent vegetables.
I was excited to go to the Thirsty Oyster . I have been cooped up for the past weeks, my only car rides being to the hospital and back. For my person and her significant other person it was their year and a half anniversary. That’s almost 16 dog years! I will love my person forever.
We did a day trip to Gordon’s Bay but were sadly unable to have lunch as I was denied entry by management. The manager (Pino) refused to look at my paperwork or contact my information lines. He told us that all service dogs are denied and than in any case my person’s epilepsy is a ‘lesser’ disability.
The owners of the Thirsty Oyster were proactive and kind in helping correct the situation over the following weeks . Its 5 stars from me because all of my 5 senses were buzzing with the rich smells of fried fish , garlic and butter; the savoy aurora of paella and the fresh bite of lemon wafting from the kitchen . A live Musician crooned from the bar area, audible over the hum of sports, banter and the clink of patrons glasses. What a marvelous place!
The owners made a great effort with a situation that was taken out of their hands on social media by an ableist employee.
The Thirsty Oyster is a one of a kind destination location and an excellent Seafood pub. I love it when we do seafood because my person simply can not resist prawns and always brings home a big bag of fleshy shells for us to devour 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤
I only post my review on our resolved incident to created awareness for other owners of how the cruel bias of their management can taint their business.
The Thirsty Oyster has confirmed that they do grant entry to service dogs . I hope that our loss that day will be the gain of many other working dogs like me and their special persons .
I have been to the Thirsty Oyster a few times and I’ve yet to be disappointed. The menu on offer is fairly diverse, but if you find yourself here - treat yourself to any one of the fresh fish dishes on the menu. On my most recent visit, I opted for a simple hake and chips and it was a great meal. My girlfriend ordered the butterfish and was incredibly impressed.
Besides offering quality meals, the prices are very good, especially considering that you’re fish right on the harbour.
A definite must if you’re in Gordon’s Bay.
Initially it seemed a little run down. But this is a typical Pub style eatery.
The staff was friendly and the food is excellent.
As we were not staying far away we returned 3 nights in a row.
Great Eisbein and Calamari Rings.
Prices are fair.
Really fresh seafood. Great vibe even for the kiddies. Looking forward to the next visit. Try the calamari tentacles they are really really awesome especially with a little peri peri sauce!!!

My Hubby nd I popped in on Tuesday night and both had the calamari and rice. Both meals had to be sent back as it was cold. Rather disappointing the second time aroud because the calamari was tough. Nontheless we returned on Sunday after the 7s rugby and both had a fabulous meal. Hubby had the pork ribs which was delicious and fell off the bone. I had the hake and chips. Fish was delicious and the tartar sauce was the best I've ever had. Chips to die for.....
We will definately be back
Great food, great vibe an authentic Cape Town. The portions are big and not expensive, with a table of 7 we had only compliments to offer!! Very fresh and tasty!! Would definitely recommend this great seafood joint to any friend!!
Absolutely fantastic seafood. Fresh, melt in your mouth fish and associated shellfish! Service was great! Efficient and professional! A definite must visit!
I had an awesome night with friends. Super fresh food, their menu is based on what's available. The waiter made great recommendations. I would recommend the calamari and mussels. Constant Grové
Stopped here en-route to Cape Town for a drink. Screens are plentiful, the live band brings a good vibe and packed to the rafter all add to a pub-seafood kind of vibe. One of the busier and more popular restaurants in the town. Sharp service, cold beer and (from what we saw) good food.
Consistently good food. The best in Gordon's Bay. Enough said................................................................................
