The food is amazing and the curries come in almost any way and flavour. Its really an experience that i would recommend, but it is on the expensive side
Amazing food and service. Made a reservation for 3 as it was my parents anniversary. They had visited the restaurant before and this was my first time. So tasty! All 3 dishes tasted like I needed more 😀 Cinzia was very professional and answered all questions we had about the menu. Would definitely come back. Only down side was the Roti that my parents wanted was not available, and also the wine which we selected was out of stock.
Bukhara is located inside the Grand West Casino and is an Indian fine dine restaurant. We had come here on a Sunday evening to try our luck at gambling and to savour good Indian food. The restaurant was about to close we were happy they choose to entertain us. The decor has been kept rustic with the setting of Indian Palace with large intricate cravings on the wall.
We didn't waste much time and our orders included the following - Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken Masala, Palak Panner and Butter Naan and Garlic Naan. The order has a modest waiting time.
Tandoori Chicken - Moist chicken pieces with most authentic Indian spices provided abundant flavouring of India in South Africa. The chicken pieces are soft and juicy and delectable.
Butter Chicken Masala - the abundance of spicy flavours burst in our mouth and makes it essential for the right balance of spices to be good for a dish.
Palak Panner - we were disappointed with the dish. The dish was largely sweet instead of being savoury. Also, the lumps of Panner requires to be soft.
Naan- the huge Naan are soft breads and is quite desirable. The dish doesn't seem to be heavy on stomach.
A good fine dine experience but heavy on pocket.
The service was good. Especially since I knocked my drink all over myself, the table and the floor. They were very quick to help and reassure me it was not a problem. The food was absolutely delicious. Ordered the dhal makani and naan bread. The flavours were beautiful.
We've been meaning to go to bukhara for a while but we were always deterred by the prices. We ended up sharing a Curry and Naan bread and dessert between two. The curry was one of the best I've ever had, we ordered a mild one and it was really a delicious combination of flavours. The service was good and the food came quickly. The dessert was an Indian bread and butter pudding, but seemed exactly like an English bread pudding. It was still good, but I expected interesting Indian spices in it. Overall would highly recommend the restaurant!
One of the better restaurants at Grand West, but not fantastic! The dishes are pretty authentic, and the service is friendly, but not very quick. The food quality is also good, but not exceptional. Given their location and the brand's reputation, I was expecting more.
This Bukhara is situated inside grandwest, the food is good - my family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, we waited a bit to be seated and honestly I find the decor a little outdated.
We went on a Monday night which probably wasn't the best night to go if seeking a vibe as the restaurant was completely empty. We decided to try something new and stayed. The food was out of this world! We had the lamb korma, butter chicken, lemon rice, garlic naan bread and a Roti to share. I'm not a big curry eater but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, empty restaurant and all! Can't wait to try the one in Stellenbosh!
We had a delicious meal at Bukhara last week. We were celebrating hubby's birthday and wanted a place that served a good sit-down meal before going to the Josh Groban concert. We made sure we were there earlier enough to get a good spot, and chose to sit "outside" along the walkway so we could soak in the atmosphere of the passerby's. Good choice and we enjoyed the vibe as the centre got busier ahead of the concert. The service was great and they knew we wanted to finish the meal without any stress of waiting for bills, etc. The food, oh the food. It's been a while since we had really good Indian food and this was exceptional. To be honest, I did take a gulp when I saw the prices of the curries, but in faith we ordered and were not disappointed. We ordered the Rogan Josh (we thought appropriate!), the Lamb Korma and a Butter Chicken with Naan bread and rice to share between us. Well, once every morsel was devoured, we decided to order one last bowl of curry and rice to share - it really was that good! Will definitely go back :)
The food here is authentic Indian although a little pricey it is one of the longest going Indian restaurants in Cape Town and great for any occasion. Exotic food to tantalise those taste buds! Try the paneer and butter chicken or be a little more daring and try the chicken tikka - also do not forget to try a REAL Indian drink - their famous SALTY lassi!
