Review Casa Bella Grand West - Goodwood

What a lovely experience visiting Casa Bella today at Grandwest today as a kid, we once visited them, but that was long ago, so it was quite an exciting moment today to visit them again. 5 + Stars 🌟 as we had the best time ever, we booked a table for our Ladies Team building function, and they were so accommodating with their quick and efficient service, and the food was amazing. From the wine to the pasta and even the pizza was amazing. The best part is that while you wait for your food, you get these little pizza dough balls that you can eat, and it's also amazing. I will definitely recommend this restaurant 👌

I was highly impressed with the food and service here. Was abit disappointed that my reservation had not been marked even though it was confirmed via email two weeks in advance. But the food and good service made up for it. I had the best birthday celebration here and I would come back here. The pasta and pizza are top notch.

Had a lovely staff lunch there. We ordered pizzas. You get nice condiments with tiny vetkoek to snack before your pizza arrives. A good selection of pizza and also a build a pizza option. We were there at 1pm. I'm sure at night it has more atmosphere. The staff were attentive and professional.

We dropped in for a quick supper. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The house wine is good and the service was very friendly. Fundi, our waitress, was witty and knowledgeable. The food arrived quickly, was fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic food, great service... Our new fav restaurant! We arranged a surprise 50th birthday celebration with about 30 ppl in the upstairs area. Everything was absolutely fabulous and ppl raved about the food - just 1 negative - we were not served their complimentary little breads on the table - that was a disappointing

The good: we ordered steak & pizza. Both were quite good, although our waitress forgot the mushroom sauce. The house red wine was good. The not so good: I got the sense that the place is not as organized as it should be. We made a booking but when we arrived noone knew about us. There should surely be a book at the entrance with the names of those who booked. Orders gets mixed up, some customer requests are forgotten...... Our waitress, Fundi, did well, trying her best to hold things together.

The mini breads that we received was wonderful just missed butter. The starter of Mussels was perfectly cooked and creamy. There was a lack of flavour to the sauce but nothing that salt, pepper and garlic can’t fix. The bread with the mussels was also slightly stale. The mains, overall, was delicious. 1. The pasta is freshly made and is cooked to perfection. I had the Saltimbocca and found that all the seasoning and flavour sat on top of the dish. With a layer of ham just below the mushrooms and bacon. I found that this layer of ham made it slightly difficult to mix the pasta and the flavours. However, I found that the pasta got better when I ate it the next day. 2. The rest of the mains, was said to be lovely. Finally the ambience and our server (Nomvuyo if I’m not mistaken) was delightful. If you are looking for a date night, this is the place to go.

We go to Casa Bella often, and usually very happy with all round good service and food, but our experience on Saturday was disappointing because of very poor service. Firstly we waited very long for drinks and food to be served. I then accidentally knocked over my full drink all over myself, table, chair and the floor. We called our waitress and apologized and explained what happened. She then only gave us extra napkins and walked away. I ended up cleaning the floor, table, chair and myself as best I could and left the wet napkins on the floor. I would have expected somebody to bring a mop and at least clean the floor and offer us a new table ....there was about 8 open tables available.

Excellent starters that me skipped mains and went for cheese cake. Creme Brule had to be returned even though the flame thrower came to table. Enjoyable evening.

Great place to have a romantic supper. They have the best, the best, I repeat, the absolute best bread starters. It's one of the main reasons we go back everytime. Steaks are not bad for an Italian restaurant.

Casa Bella GrandWest has been one of my absolute favourite restaurants. The staff are always 100% friendly, kind, helpful and caring. Eaten here 10+ times and always love the friendly staff. The food is delicious. The wine is great. Stunning restaurant and a great Tuesday date night special to note!!! Thank you

I really like the simple and concise menu with a nice selection of pasta, pizza and few other grills and meat options. The portions for the pasta is well appreciated and the pizza tastes really great. The service was pretty good, we were in a rush because of a show but the waitress accommodated us well. Zapper is a form of payment here as well. Would return for the pizza and pastas.

Celebrated my daughter and grand daughter's birthday here. Ten adults and 7 children. Lovely venue for such parties. We took the complete top section. Wine and drink menu have a good selection but thought it quite pricy. Pizzas reasonably prices and tasty. Service was found acceptable although we did 3 waitrons. Had a very enjoyable evening

Best food in Cape Town. Great top class service. Kitchen staff are VERY avwrage and need to be trained more or watched. Seen things fall and put in a plate. Personally had many times items missing from my salad or sauces forgotten. But the waitresses, managers, food is all wonderful. Highly recommend them

Casa Bella Dining was the best choice we could have made for our evening out! We sat upstairs and had a perfect view of the whole floor including the kitchen. The decor is on point! Our waiter Fortune was thoughtful, attentive and just dang nice! And I haven't even mentioned the food yet. I still can't get over the fact that I got 12 mussels in my Mussel Pot!! 12 yummy, juicy, lekker mussels. And it's classified as a Light Meal. Overall, great value for money!

The food was horrible! Worst dining experience of my life and the worse attitude from the kitchen staff. I ordered a lamb shank and I got something close to puke with off color meat.

Food was great, service was Excellent. And so glad we got Lovejoy to be our waitress. A bit on the expensive side, but the Service and food is really good.

We were a party of 9 people. On arrival we were greeted very friendly and helped speedily to our table. We placed our orders. Everyone received their food except me. The waitre forgot to place my order. He apologized but everyone else already finished their food and I was still hungry. Not a good experience for me.

Being vegetarian I often struggle to find restaurants that serve quality food but this place had me smiling from the second I walked in and I'm still having a hard time forgetting about it. The restaurant is beautiful, staff are super friendly and the food was quality. Nothing dissapointed from the complimentary pizza dough balls right through to the perfect desserts.

First visit and definitely will be the last visit. Worst service and the worst waitress. Horrible pasta. Worst management. Please train your waitress.
Aurore Fleurette
The pizza and Bolognese was hot and cheesy (truly amazing) and the Margarita was delicious. Water was kinda overpriced but the atmosphere was excellent and the service was great. Would definitely come back.

Who doesn’t love Italian 😊<br/>On a night out with colleagues we ended up at this cosy unhalaal restaurant.<br/>The waiter advised that the only thing safe for me to consume is the chicken.<br/>I decided to have the Fettucine Chicken Alfredo with a side salad. It was by the far the best Alfredo I have ever tasted!!!<br/>The salad was fresh and yummy too.<br/>Their portions are large and their prices are really not bad considering the location.<br/>The carrot cake was mouth watering and I was dying for another serving.<br/>My colleagues all enjoyed their meals and none of them complained even though they are very fond of critisising.<br/>The waiters are professional and well trained and the chef is an absolute star!<br/>

Food is average in terms of value for money. Their items are quite pricey but we wanted to go experience something different.<br/><br/>I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, it didn’t taste as wow as i had thought it would. The sauce was something anyone would be able to make if they make chicken mushroom with white sauce. My boyfriend ordered the Carne pizza. It was nice. <br/><br/>They give bread that comes in small brown paper bags. Cute bread cubes, tastey as well. Maybe other items on the menu are better.

Thee worst service.<br/><br/>Literally sitting in the restaurant writing this review. I don't even know where to begin. From having one waiter to serve an entire area on a Saturday night, to the food only coming out for a table of 5 almost an hour later, let me not forget that my friend ordered a margherita pizza, one of the simplest things to make, which was brought out ICE COLD! The drinks took forever to come out, and let me not start on trying to reorder drinks! How could the waiter not feel that the dish was ice cold. Apart from that, we asked for the bill and waited almost 20 minutes for the waiter to bring a card machine. My first abd definitely my last visit to this house of horrors.

I had passed this restaurant many times and finally decided to try it. The restaurant is Italian themed lovely decor which gives a nice cozy feel. While scanning the menu we received complimentary Italian fritters which we enjoyed. A very nice light pre-dinner snack. We had the Casa Bella Sauvignon Blanc house wine. The mains arrived hot, freshly made. I had the Fettuccine Con Pesce a creamy napoletana sauce with a dash of chilli...wow wow wow. The portion was huge and there was plenty of mussels, prawns and calamari...the calamari was tender. The Frutti Di Mare pizza was good. The only dissapointment was when I wanted dessert my first choice was the chocolate torte and second choice chocolate fondant, unfortunately when I ordered I was told both were not available. So we opted for the Tiramisu and Fudge Picasso instead. Dessert portions were a nice size, both were very tasty, not too sweet just right. We were there for almost 3 hours, waitress was good no hovering and also no rush to make us leave, lovely relaxing evening. I will definitely be back to try the chocolate fondant and chocolate torte. Excellent Service and Excellent Food.

Quite romantic spot with a Italian feel to it. Love the ambiance of the restaurant and the food divine! Perfect for a couples date with lots of menu options to choose from.

We called to make a booking for dinner for the Friday before the Michael Macintyre show knowing that it would be busy. We were looking forward to a nice family dinner before the show. On arrival there was no record of our booking and a queue a mile long. The manager did absolutely nothing to try and help us. His attitude was simply one of ‘tough luck, there is nothing I can do’. Needless to say all the restaurants were full so we never got to eat before the show and what would have been a wonderful evening was ruined.
Brigitte Lewis
We have eaten there a few times and always received excellent service and very good food. The steaks and lamb shank can give any steakhouse a run for their money. My only complaint is it's a bit pricey .

Kiddie-go-Round👨‍👩‍👧‍👧<br/><br/>Spent some time at the Entertainment Arcade with the kids and had just over an hour to spare for a bite to eat.<br/>After standing dead still for like 5minutes we decided on Casa Bella.<br/>Staff met us at the entrance and escorted us upstairs to our seating. Decor really nice, rusty warm feel.<br/>We did inform our waitress that we had about an hour to spare as we had a timed game at the Lazer Tag.<br/>She took our order and came back to tell us how long the meal preparation would be, we agreed and she then put through our order👏that’s really taking initiative.<br/>Our food came and it was really good, nothing under done everything was perfect. <br/>Due to time constraints we had to dash and asked for boxing for doggy bags...<br/>What gives this restaurant a good rating is the fact that when the food was re-heated it still tased awesome 👍🏻<br/>Nice restaurant, but not a family recommended restaurant for kiddies (Toddlers)<br/><br/>

My experience was really great here one evening! The ambience was warm and relaxed, the service was friendly and most importantly the food was brilliant 😍 I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, and my boyfriend had the T-bone steak with sweet potato. It's hard not to dream about coming back and eating the same meals every night of the week 😂😱

We had gone to the restaurant a few times and had no issues. Service was great and for amazing. We tried to place an order to collect via the phone and we were told that they don't take orders over the phone.

Friends and I visited the branch at the Grandwest for a birthday and had an amazing time. Our waiter's name was Simon and he did not disappoint us as he provided excellent and attentive service, he knew exactly when he was needed without hovering too much and also super friendly and knew how to treat his customers well. The food was excellent, I had the crumbed parmesan chicken with creamed spinach and mushroom sauce - incredible. One friend had a pizza and said it was very delicious. Other friends each had different pasta dishes and raved about them being extremely tasty. I also had the panacotta for desert, which I had never tasted before but was interested to try. It was amazing. One of the best deserts I've had in a long time. Excellent service and excellent food. We left with big smiles being happy customers

Reasonably priced, authentic dishes and friendly service. <br/>I liked that the menu wasn't too extensive. Each section had between 4 and 6 items. <br/>Good kids menu, but not really a kids restaurant.
Natasha Bella
The food [Pasta Di Pollo] was excellent especially the gluten free option. They have an excellent Two course menu, the gelato was superb. The service was excellent and friendly. The ambience is fresh and lively.

Seriously not impressed with our experience. The longest wait, 30 mins, for 2 chai lattes. The restaurant whilst clean, and tidy is grossly understaffed. :-( today is #ColourSunday at the Arena, the restaurant should have been made aware of this and thus rostered more staff to avoid delays in service. After being seated and ordered we were forgotten. There were no cups, but the waiter, after we complained made us chai lattes in milkshake glasses. Only after asking if we would receive a discount did the waiter ask the manager. We ended paying for one drink. Thank you.

Great Food , Great Service , Awesome staff , very friendly waitress . Only thing that wasn't nice was the chocolate fondant pudding. But who cares when everything else was so nice ! First time going there and you definitely will see myself and my friends coming back for more pretty soon. Not agreeing with all the negative reviews below .Can hardly believe it as we only have positive feedback after our visit last night .

So much went wrong and the non shalon attitude we got from management was the cherry on top. Booked for 22 covers at 19:30 tonight. Admittedly, we were 15 minutes late but pur table was broken up. That was still fine. We ordered water to start off with as we were playing lazer tag earlier. The water literally took 30 minutes to arrive. Drinks were then ordered but this was also a disaster! The first person at our table got food last the last to order got food first! How does that work?????? I went to management to ask whats going on as we were pretty annoyed with the whole situation, they weren't even bothered by my concern of crappy service and food orders coming out cold. This is a definite MUSN'T visit!!!!!!! Stay away, rather get take out go to your hotel room.

Nothing to write home about really. Service wasnt that great. Was okay until we had our food and there were only 2-3 tables left. Then the music got turned up so loud we could barely have a conversation. Waiter didn't seem very happy about the fact that we wanted a desert menu either....so much that we rather skipped it. Its clear everyone wants to go home at 22:30. <br/><br/>Food was okay, not really worth the price you pay...really hard to justify a basic chicken salad at R125. Pasta was average (same price as a salad...HOW does that make sense). Setting was nice. Nothing fancy, nothing too casual. <br/><br/>Not sure I would visit this place again. Tried it and moving on
Tiara Jorissen
Service is super attentive and friendly to the point where they check up on you every 10 minutes or so. Prices are far too expensive!!! So we ordered the spinach and ricotta cannelloni and another tomato based pasta. Whats nice is they give you these tiny dough type starters while you wait or as they call them itailian fritters. The pastas were good but not worthy of the price and the tomato pasta had chilli in but did not mention it on the menu. No wonder the restaurant was a quarter full!
Bev Moss-Reilly
Shocking service. Extremely overpriced.<br/>Food nothing special. Lovely decor and setting.<br/>With such service and prices they wont survive. <br/>I would by no means return.<br/>When one orders a pizza the condiments should be on the table and not only come 10 minutes upon request.<br/>My spouse requested a garlic pita bread with butter on the side. The butter came much later once the pita was cold. It was presented in an ugly way.<br/>Not to be recommended.

Opted to try a new place on a empty stomach, almost starving actually. We waited about 20mins before a waiter came around to our table, we ordered the good and drinks together. We waited for what felt like forever to finally get our food. I ordered the seafood pasta which was good, nice and creamy. My friend ordered the steak and prawns and she said hers 'wasn't bad'. A side portion of fries is R22 but oh man the portion is so tiny wow. The prices are quite intense. I feel like the service seriously needs to be faster considering the place wasn't full at all.

I visited Casabella Grandwest lastnight, The food was spectacular. Best lamb shank ever. <br/><br/>Management attantivenes is out of this world. Thanks to the managers Mahier and Thabo for the excellent service. <br/><br/>Keep up the excellent work.<br/><br/>

The worst pizza I have ever had!! Go to supermarket and get a froze pizza is better than this, I don't know how they cooked pizza, don't even think about to try any pizza here !!!!
Candice

Had the most amazing experience at Casa Bella! The vibe was so authentic (like real Italy), food so fresh and flavoursone and the staff so friendly! Go go go 💛

Upon entering Casa Bella, you get taken aback by the decor and ambiance alone. We went for a team building so we were quite a big group of people. <br/><br/>A group of us ordered the antipasto platter as a starter to share, which was devoured within a few minutes, not only due to us all being starving but because it was just so delicious! <br/><br/>Service was great, our food from starters, main & dessert all came timeously. The waiters always checked to see if you needed anything else, which was great as it wasn't too much.<br/><br/>For my main, I ordered a fillet saltimbocca, with zucchini shoestring fries, as a side. When my main arrived, portion sizes was a bit overwhelming. Definitely value for your money as I would not finish even half of the meal & ended up taking it home.<br/><br/>Sadly had no space to try any of their desserts but they offered a good variety. Some of my colleague had ordered desserts and said it was mouth-watering.<br/><br/>The quality of the food and the atmosphere was just amazing. A fine dining experience and I would definitely recommend dining at Casa Bella and hope to be back again soon so try some of their other meals.

Randomly ended up picking this restaurant for dinner, mostly because of its inviting look and the ABSOLUTE WONDERFUL smell of warm garlic and pizza! What an excellent choice! The snack doughy-bites that were presented as a little starter was delicious and the firewood oven pizzas were gorgeous! The Gorgonzola, pancetta & fig preserve (their signature) was beautiful and SO full of flavour! Totally impressed with this random stunning little hidden gem!

We came through to the restaurant as it was for a family lunch. My daughter and son in - law were in town from Dubai visiting my other daughter. (So this was a special occasion)<br/>Wjen we walked in , staff greeted me/ us immediately. Very beautiful restaurant, and the music was great , it added to the warm atmosphere. <br/>The waiter that we had Denzel introduced himself with a great smile. <br/>Gave us time to look at menu and got our drinks. I had a delicious black forest milkshake.<br/>Nice to see them cook the food in the open.<br/>Fabulous menu, unusual pizzas that were not predictable .<br/>Food hot which was great<br/>Big size pizza and value for money. I really enjoyed the pizza I had as it was my sweet and savoury style. It had gorganzola and fig preserve on it.<br/>Which had lots of topping and crispy crust.<br/>A very pleasant 1st time experience at restaurant. <br/>Will definitely recommend it to others and would love to go back.<br/><br/>Thank you again for a great meal.<br/><br/>Lorraine van Lelyveld.

What a lovely Italian gem!!! Casa Bella definitely deserves to be rated one of Cape Town's Top 10 Italian Eat Outs. My boyfriend and I were impressed with the excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices, appetizing food filled with bursts of flavour and an amazing atmosphere. <br/><br/>We had a mussel pot and the Casa Bella Gorgonzola pizza with de-boned roast lamb shank. Unforgettable!  <br/><br/>Thank you to the staff of Casa Bella Grand West for making 5 June 2016 a wonderful date night experience for us both. <br/><br/>We will definitely be back.

Being Pizza and Pasta's number one fan I couldn't wait for this place to open and the Month's of waiting was totally worth it...<br/><br/>Unfortunately and very sadly the atmosphere and decor has changed immensely from the quaint and romantic little set up it was before which is sad because I felt like I was in a different country when there :-) <br/><br/>BUT... The food is Delicious and that's what's been worth the wait, the service was a little slow but the staff were helpful and very friendly..<br/><br/>We had shared a Caprese Salad to start off with for mains we had pasta I had the Chorizo Fettuccine and it was insane, definitely one of the best pasta's I have had at a restaurant.  The portion size was big enough that I ate till I  couldnt anymore AND had enough for lunch the next day, and let me tell you it was just a YUM the next day after reheating...<br/><br/>When going to Grand-west for a night out, some gambling or a show do yourself a favour and try this place out...<br/><br/>Good Food, Good Vibe, Good Value.

The new incarnation of an old favourite. Sadly not on par. Restaurant empty at Friday lunch hour but manager did not even come and enquire about our meal. <br/>350.00 for a pizza and simple pasta. Mmm<br/>Lovely waitress however.
