Love Meade Café. Simple, delicious food, beautifully presented. Polite and friendly staff in a gorgeous setting. Definitely worth a visit when in George.
Omg. This place is life right now! Its a must for anyone suffering from a morning hangover, to a cute daytime date. The food is incredible. Even though the servers do need improvement and if you love a bloody marry to cure that hangover, you would be disappointed because they don't have that in stock, the food definitely makes up for that.
Great ambience - lighting, soft background music. Had the Meade burger, with wedges as a side. What a delicious patty - presented on a traditional, toasted roll. I quite enjoyed the meal. From Meade street, the pink door that opens into a printer's shop could deceive you into thinking you're at the wrong location. You're not. Leading from that printers shop is a short passage, which all in all lends an interesting dimension.
What an amazing place to stop and have breakfast! Initially we were a little skeptical because from the outside it looks like Meade Cafe is in a abandoned parking lot but once you go inside you are instantly transported away.
The cafe is quiet with soft music in the background which is occasionally broken but a little hiss from the milk steamer. The staff are all very friendly and eager to assist and serve without being invasive or overbearing.
And of course, the food. Jürgen opted for the eggs benedict which came with perfectly poached eggs and a good hollandaise sauce. I had the french toast with bacon and fried banana and it was delicious! The french toast had a perfectly crispy crust but the inside was still soft and it wasn't at all eggy. The coffee was great and the barista obviously knows his stuff.
It was an absolute pleasure to visit this establishment and we will definitely be returning and recommending it to others.

We haven't been here for years so tried it out. The breakfast of Salmon Benedict was great. I would definitely come back for the lunch as well.
A beautiful venue sadly my fish was terribly overcooked. Waitress was so friendly and efficient however and really accommodating. I will definitely be back but will give the fish a miss
This is one of my "must stop" spots when in the Garden Route. Located in the center of George, once you walk in, you don't even realize that you are actually in the middle of downtown George. I especially love sitting under the trees in their garden area. On colder days, inside's decor make me think of what it would be like to be sitting in a cafe in Paris.
Not only is the food always good, the presentation is always beautiful and all round very consistent.
The quality you get is well worth it - very reasonably priced.
Meade Cafe is a cute, oasis of a restaurants, situated in the center of George. It has a very European, tea room type feel, where you can sit inside or in the outdoor courtyard. The food, however, is the real star here. Everything we tried was delicious. We opted for two of the specials (beef pie with gravy and a lentil and aubergine soup), as well as a curry dish. All were flavorful and delivered promptly. The price is also very reasonable. Service is great, as well. For some place that I just stumbled into, I will definitely be back! They have a great selection of wines, which I think would be great to enjoy in the courtyard!
Lovely place, cozy in winter with a big, blazing fireplace and a beautiful sunny garden to sit in on a warm summers day. Service is great, everyone is friendly. Definitely with a visit :)
Best food and ambience: Had a delightful morning meal at Meade Café! Their menu, while not extensive (which I personally like), features incredibly intriguing choices!! Our selection of a fruit and nut bowl, a chicken burger, accompanied by orange juice and coffee, was fantastic! The flavorsome food was skillfully cooked and beautifully plated. I can certainly offer my recommendation. The service is prompt and attentive, and the ambiance of the setting and decor feels rejuvenating and airy. Kudos to Meade Café for a job well done!!
I must say, calling this place a hidden gem might sound cliche, but it's undeniably true! The open garden courtyard is simply beautiful for summertime, and the interior with its lovely decorations and fireplace makes it perfect for winter too. The atmosphere is delightful, and I love that they have entrances from both the front and back with ample parking. The food is delicious, and their cappuccinos are great, but the real standout is their filter coffee – it's the best I've ever had, always warm and fresh at the Mead Cafe. And let's not forget about their menu – it's so diverse and interesting! I highly recommend visiting and experiencing the Mead Cafe's unique offerings.
Lovely breakfast at Meade Café! Their menu is smallish (which I prefer), but contains very interesting offerings!! Our meal of The Texan and The Meade Full House breakfast was great! Tasty food, well prepared and well presented. I can definitely recommend. Service is quick and attentive and the setting/decor and atmosphere fresh and light. Well done Meade Café!!
Amazing place to eat, food is delicious, service is exceptional. Nice healthy food options on the menu. Will come again when I’m in town to enjoy the courtyard and amazing atmosphere!

Lovely outside area, one forgets it is on a main road. Good service, reasonably priced meals. Good portion size. Will return. We all enjoyed our brunch. Glad the salad wasn't just iceberg lettuce!

The food was incredible. We had breakfast and it was worth writing a book and sending it home just to describe it. Very special place this! The decor is also interesting and the little shop upstairs was worth a visit too.
