Review Coffee On The Rocks - Gansbaai

BEST coffee (I'm not exaggerating... ) with the BEST view while you are Whale watching. I won't recommend the specific chocolate cake served on that day. Menu looked appetising, they also serve alcohol, but we came for the coffee. Recommended.

What a wonderful little spot that delivers a great view of the ocean. It's perfect on a warm day when you can sit at the tables on the balcony but there are also tables indoors for colder temperatures. De Kelders is just outside Hermanus but here, it feels so far away because of the lack of several tourists. It appeared that locals frequent this place and the food is pretty good. Shoutout to the ladies Julia and Danielle deliver good, sharp service that doesn't feel intrusive at all. Don't know what to order? The chocolate cake is wonderful - it reminds you of a distant time in the past when you were young and the pleasures of life were simple. Stairs don't work for wheelchair users.

Great place to relax and have breakfast, lunch snack or just coffee. Watching the whales go by. Great view of the bay. Danielle excellent host.

Frankly I just went for a coffee, and to gaze on the bay. The view is incredible: on the lip of coastal brushland which slopes down to cliffs, maybe 50m down, with a wide vista of the bay with Hermanus in the distance. In half an hour I saw three whales, another 100m or so beyond the cliffs. The menu looks interesting and varied. I will definitely return to try the food.

If you sit outside, you have an awesome view of the sea, but space is limited. Not much parking available. It was bisy and service was slow but still friendly.

We unfortunately went at peak time so it was quite busy. So after 12h30 is best. Unless you want breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Prices are fair, considering its the only coffee shop in De Kelders. Food was tasty. Coffee good and strong!

Lovely sea-facing breakfast and coffee stop. One of the only places open on a Sunday. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was delicious and I love the homely decor. Excellent views as well!

Nice food and a stunning view!! If you are lucky, you maybe see whales. The sandwiches and the cake are perfect. I really enjoyed my time here.

Good small restaurant with the best view. Cakes are a bit too sweet for my taste but otherwise it was good food.

Lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the dolphins go by. Delicious food and coffee, just remember though that they only open at 10am.

Am amazing setting for a meal or drinks... The tranquility of the place is just phenomenal... The food is excellent, the service is great... The views are unrivaled...its away from the maddening crowds and you can just sit there and relax and leave your stress behind... Its a bit of a drive down the coast but we'll worth a stop over...

Great view and service. The food was exceptional, quickly prepared and delicious. I will recommend to everyone for brunch or lunch. It's a must if you are close to Gansbaai.

I haven't been there in many years and going there again brings back many good memories and i look forward to making many more, they have great drinks and the atmosphere is just immaculate.

I love the view from the veranda overlooking the ocean an mountains of Hermanus. We sighted a whale and calf from here and was served excellent porkbelly for lunch. Keep in mind that brunch is till 11:30, and lunch only starts at 12:00 so be patient if you visit over this hour. So take a walk and enjoy tye scenery!

Great lunch while watching whales breaching in a very calm bay. Made to order!!

Lovely place to watch the whales or just chill out over looking the rocks and sea. Good, uncomplicated food and laid back vibe. Perfect place to chill on the weekend. Highly recommended (not sure if I should be sharing this info as it is already difficult to get a booking!!)

Great view of the bay (including dolphins & whales). Our waitress was very friendly & seated us at a better table when other guests did not arrive. My mom and I had the pork belly and her friend the chicken parmigiana, and it was fantastic. Real coffee & espresso afterwards. We will be back�

Pictureque cove where we spotted some Southern Right whales in the distance and enjoyed a nice trout salad. Memorable.

Coffee on the Rocks is our favorite place! Divine home cooking and the best view of Walker Bay!

I had a wonderful experience at Coffee on the Rocks. The food was really tasty and freshly prepared. The service was fantastic and everyone was really friendly. It was the such a relaxing afternoon and what an amazing view!....oh and the cake was Devine! Possibly my only suggestion is to offer 2 different size coffees, one normal and one for the coffee addicts! Can't wait to go back!

Stunning view. The food was lovely, but ran out of a lot of items on the menu. Waitress run off her feet, but great service. Toilets not easily accessible, limiting who can go there. A plan should be made for easy access.

Coffee on the Rocks is THE place to go to if you want to see the whales and have a great lunch as well. Everyone was very friendly and the service was excellent. Will definitely go there again!

This is the most well kept secret around!!! They have the best whale watching seats in the house, the best coffee ever and lets not forget Gayle's chocolate cake and her pyramid cheese cake, my mouth is watering just thinking about it... There is always a heartwarming welcome and everyone is always so friendly, Well Done to you all.
