A friend introduced me to Turkish cuisine, and it was an absolute delight(pun intended). Excellent service, delicious Turkish tea, and I ate the kunefe like I’d never seen dessert before in my life. The ambiance is so relaxing, decor authentic and stunning, and the background music transports you quite literally to another land.

Their staff are friendly and will always leave you smiling, the owners will always accommodate all your requests and ensure you have an amazing meal. It's the perfect place to gather with friends or family and most of all the food is DELICIOUS 😋!! I wouldn't go anywhere else! It's also halaal for those who require this.
30th September 2023. Visited Sofra Istanbul in Florida Road with my family. The hosts/owners were so friendly and amazing. The atmosphere and ambience was so lovely. The food was delicious. The baklava Milkshake was super delicious. Definately going back there. The Tiramisu was thee best I ever had... an awesome experience and outing
The food portions are very generous. Everything is well flavored, well presented and divine to eat.
We ordered the platter for 2, which could easily feed 3 to 4 people. Milkshakes are very tasty. Bread was fresh out of the oven.
The service was excellent!
To top it off the provided a unique, delicious dessert for free! A must try if you are in durban.
A taste of Turkey on your doorstep. This was our first dining experience at Istanbul. Pearl the lady who served us, was very pleasant. We were treated with a complimentary steaming Turkish tea, which we enjoyed, it warmed us up, coming in from the cold and rain.
We chose the mezze platter for 2 as starters. It consisted of grilled brinjal, peppers n potatoes. It was accompanied by a bowl of chickpeas, yogurt, Turkish salsa, hummus and lavash (Turkish bread). It was delicious and can be shared between 2 people.
The main we chose king prawns, served on bulgar, with sides of chips, salad, garlic butter n a hot sauce. Prawns was cooked to perfection. Dessert was delicious, I had the semolina cake, crumbs evident on the plate next to the baklava that my hubby chose. I had to have 1 of the 3. Lol. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit to Istanbul. It's a great place for family and friends to enjoy a delicious meal n socialise.
Food is always excellent. Every single dish I have tried so far has been good. The service is also great! The owners are pleasant and warm, they will even make unique dishes to cater to your dietary needs/likes. On our last visit the hostest made us a roasted veg platter- it was absolutely delicious. Hope it gets added to the main menu. The kunefe is a must try too. Love this spot!
Istanbul is a cosy restaurant. It was the first time eating turkish food overall it was a good experience the flavors were very unique and our waiter benny was so awesome. I would definitely recommend you trying it atleast once. I ate the prawns it was very tasty. We also had the princess kabab amd donor wraps.
The best in fine dining. It's a whole new level of experiencing cultural.food. Every bite just tantalize your taste buds... You taste the garlic and herbs. The deserts is light on the pallet and melts in your mouth.... just loved it. Going back soon
