Consistently excellent cappucinos and a range of baked desserts so well presented that you'll find yourself admiring them through the glass for longer than is usually socially acceptable.
The bar-1 cake is the best chocolate cake that I've ever tasted and the almond danish is the perfect pastry.
Top class service, and it's the small touches like the mini pastry that comes with each cappucino that really puts Chateaux Gateaux on my list of Durban favourites.
I'm not a fan of cheesecakes and don't really like ordering them but after trying out almost all the cakes of this franchise I decided to try out the New York baked cheesecake and wow was I impressed, it was so smooth and creamy. I Really enjoyed it. As always service is friendly and stores neat and tidy.
To die for, one of the best bakery in Durban. This is where I get my cakes for majority of the special occasions in our family. My favourite is definitely the Mozart cake however the red velvet isn't great, it's a bit too sweet

Love the cakes from here. We bought my cousins bday cakes from here last weekend it was pure deliciousness! We had the Mozart and every bite was heavenly. It was so rich but not too sweet. Love the setting of the restaurant and the smell of the coffee when you walk in is addictive. It's a must when In the area.

The red velvet is definitely my first choice but everything is really fantastic. Service is always excellent and I especially love the setting.
The only thing I can fault Chateau Gateaux on is that they don't have a branch in Cape Town, which is where I live. There's definitely a need for one and I'm sure you guys would make a killing.

A gem of a coffee shop in Durban! This little coffee shop has got the most amazing atmosphere and an incredible selection of sweet things, which I could describe as the Eden for those with a sweet tooth. One may consider this to be quite pricey, however you are definitely getting your money's worth! After experiencing inner turmoil in deciding what to order, I go with the Red Velvet cake and the Chai tea latte, accompanied by 2 savory pastries. If my taste buds could sing and dance, my mouth would be hosting a concert with a complete orchestra! Possibly the tastiest Red Velvet cake I have ever tasted! The Cheese pastry was lovely and the spinach pastry was dee-lish....but I would say that sweet things are more the area of expertise....I hear from the grape Vine that the chocolate volcano is to die for! And I can vouch for the chocolate croissants aswel as I took 2 to go. The choc croissants were superb! The chocolate inside is very very rich and the pastry is perfect! Highly recommended by me and many other! Thank you Chateau Gateaux for such a wonderful treat!
Chateux gateaux still produces some of the best cakes I’ve tasted. The consistency is unmatched.
The branch in Durban North is a bit more spacious than some of the other branches in Durban. The staff were friendly and as always, the cake was good.

Has some of the best and friendliest staff. They have amazing cakes, drinks and freshly baked goods, their chocolate croissants are my personal favourite.

The Chateau Gateaux cafe frappe is the best ice coffee I’ve had to be honest - it’s icy but not watery and flavorful but not too powerful!

Chateau Gateaux Durban north is amazing. It's 1 of my favorite chateau branches and for me the first 1 which was opened as an individual store some 11 years ago (or so).
Food and cakes is amazing but this store is currently under renovation.

Live a minute away frm gateway one, but after the pathetic service by zombie like staff at gateway a few weeks ago , I now travel to the dbn north one to get my stuff, it's well worth the drive with the friendly atmosphere and way better service than gateway one thank u guys
