I visited Cape Town for one week and I am sad that I didn’t discover this cosy place from my first day of my visit!
The first time I took breakfast, cappuccino and omelette both very delicious and second time an amazing “Bobotie” for lunch.
The atmosphere is very cosy and the amazing staff makes you feeling very comfortable!
Next time it will be my first choice!

Howdy Y'All!Had lunch with a dear ol' friend at this lovely lovely spot in the Southern Suburbs.Met Len, the owner and chatted a bit..(well, I chatted myself into an appetite really😉).He is so creative, we admired his arty calendars and birthday cards. So gifted.🤣Anyway, so enjoyed my Salmon Quiche&something so divine in it.(Excuse 'Blondie')With a side salad and homemade pickles.😉My friend, from Yorkshire had Cheese,Cherry Tomatoe Quiche with something something too.(I think)? Must read the menu properly, next time. Promise.Nevertheless, let me get to the simply best part of my most DIvine experience. I had Lipton's Earl Grey tea with Lemon Meringue Pie. Golly Miss Molly! It was soooooo exquisitely delicious😋.And I daresay, I know the baker, Ms Fran Mitchell.Simply the best,Lemon Meringue Pie eveeeeer.👏👏👏👏Cannot wait to have another excuse to visit this ever delightful Ellen Jay's Restaurant ,once again.🌞🌷🌹💛🌸🌻⛲🇿🇦🌏
Ellen Jay is a little cafe gem secretly hidden inside the Constancia Fabric store.
Sit inside a Soho styled dinning area complete with the sound of soft running water which forms part of the triple story pond set just outside the double volume stackable french doorway, and enjoy their cafe selection of phyllo pastries, salmon salads or homemade baboti and you'll fall in love with their decor and food instantly.
Their service is above average, with ice cold water carafes set upon your tables when you're seated to quench your thurst. While heavy linen table clothes and napkins in trendy colours line the tables.
It's an absolute delight to take guest's to enjoy light meals or decadent cakes and coffees at Ellen Jay.
Highly recommended 👌
Such a lovely gem of a cafe, tucked away within Constantia Fabrics. A warm and friendly atmosphere with delightful furnishings. Excellent light meals complete the welcoming ambience. Highly recommended.
What a special place this is! Len and Johann always make you feel special, welcoming all like long lost friends. I had lunch and a catch-up with a special friend, both of us having their smoked salmon and cream cheese salad, followed by cappuccinos (works of art). Delicious!
Lovely period and homely atmosphere. Menu is creative and there baked pies are really good. Presentation is excellent. Prices are on the high side and service was very slow in our case
The owners are amazing, competent and friendly staff . Tasty and beautiful presented food and coffee to die for!! Make it a bucket list!!
Len & Johanns delightful coffeeshop. Great food lovely setting & fabulous staff . Very yummy 😋
Curbside pickup of order at Ellen Jay! The most fantastic preserves, jams & marmalades, pecan & ginger rusks, variety of quiches, spinach, feta & dill pie in phyllo pastry and of course the carrot cake! Lots of beautiful gifts to choose from. All beautifully boxed. Thank you Len & Johan and your wonderful staff.
Constantia Curtains! Had the pleasure to visit a week ago, received a very warm welcome on that rainy day, the manager Saleh even took the time to have a cup of coffee with me. Excellent, friendly staff!
